  • Comparing Curt and Tekonsha Wiring Harnesses for 2020 Ford Explorer
  • The Curt # C56093 and the Tekonsha T-One # 118599 do have some slight differences, but they both install the same way, come with the same basic components you will need to install a wiring harness and will provide you with a 4 way trailer connector. Typically we've found that Tekonsha harnesses have a bit more reliable powered converter on them, but the Curt harness in this case can handle a bit more amperage, so it would be my recommendation for your 2020 Ford Explorer. If you don't have...

  • How to Connect an Older Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar to Direct Connect Base Plates
  • I've got good news for you. All you'll need to do is remove the crossbar from your Falcon 2, RM-520, no adapter necessary. The towbar arms will then attach directly to the removable arms of the # RM-521884-5 base plate. Couldn't be simpler. You can see this at the 1:10 mark of the video I've linked for you. The video shows a direct connect base plate in use on a different vehicle, but it will show you how things fit together. In addition to the base plate and tow bars, you'll need safety...

  • Difference Between The Curt C56278 And C56306 For A 2015 Ford Explorer
  • There is very little difference between the Curt # C56278 and the # C56306. Even the instruction manuals that they come with are identical. The only difference I noted is that the # C56278 is listed for 2011-2015 Ford Explorer, and the # C56306 is listed for 2011-2019 Ford Explorer. So the C56278 would have been the first model that Curt made, then the # C56306 cam along after. Other than that they are identical even down to the wire length and color.

  • Comparing Curt Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Ford Explorer
  • Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13386 replaced C13100 due to a slight design change between the 2017 and 2018 Ford Explorer models. Curt trailer hitch # C13386 is supposed to rest just below the rear fascia on your 2017 Ford Explorer meaning that it would not make contact with that plastic piece you mentioned. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Options for a 2013 Base Ford Explorer
  • The Curt Wiring Harness part # C56172 that you referenced will work on your 2013 Ford Explorer base model. This harness installs by plugging inline with your taillight wiring harness. I attached an installation video for this product for you to check out as well. The Curt Wiring Harness part # 56146KIT is a hardwire option for your vehicle. What is nice about this harness is that it draws all the amperage needed to power your trailer lights from the vehicle battery and only uses the taillight...

  • Comparing Trailer Hitches for 2014 Ford Explorer
  • The Curt # C13386 and Draw-Tite # 76034 trailer hitches for your 2014 Ford Explorer both feature 2 x 2 inch hitch receivers, a Class III rating, and will not require drilling for installation. When used with a weight distribution system, the Curt and Draw-Tite trailer hitches all allow you up to 500 pounds total tongue weight capacity and 5,000 pound gross trailer weight towing capacity. When not using a weight distribution system, the Curt hitch has a 4,000 pound towing capacity with...

  • Comparing the Bulldog Winch #BDW15019 with the Bulldog Winch #BDW15019 For 11 Degree Tilt Trailer
  • The difference between the Bulldog Winch # BDW15019 and the Bulldog Winch # BDW15019 is not only in the synthetic rope versus cable but also in the fairlead. You can be the judge if it is worth the price difference or not. Either winch will give you the capacity you need for the length of cable or rope, but you will be at the max capacity of the winch. If you want a stronger winch for this application, I recommend the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch - Wire Rope - Roller Fairlead - 7,800...

  • Differences Between Available Trailer Wiring Harnesses for 2012 Ford Explorer
  • You can use the Tow Ready # 118540 with no problems, as long as your Explorer is equipped with the connector shown in the photo I provided. The signals used at this connection point are already converted, so no additional converter is needed. This connection is circuit protected by existing fuses, so there is no risk involved with using this harness. The Curt harness that uses the converter attaches directly behind the tail lights, at which point the signals are not converted, which is...

  • Comparing Yakima Rack and Roll vs Malone Microsport XT for Carrying Two Kayaks
  • Both the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 and Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT will work for you to carry your two Hobie kayaks, but I recommend the MicroSport XT because it is the better value of the two trailers. The biggest difference between the two trailers is that the Rack and Roll has independent suspension, while the MicroSportXT has a leaf spring suspension. This is going to give the Rack and Roll a bit of a better ride, but that alone doesn't make up for the gap in...

  • Is Locktite 5699 Gasket Maker. # LT37464 the Same as # 18718
  • I searched the Loctite industrial site and the Locktite 5699 Grey Prod. # LT37464, is the same as the 18718 that you referenced. The product comes in different sizes containers and different container amounts to a case and the 18718 is just a variant of that.

  • Comparing Trailer Hitches For 2014 Ford Explorer XLT
  • The trailer hitches designed to fit your 2014 Explorer are the Draw-Tite Max Frame, part # 76034, and the Curt, part # C13386, and etrailer.com # E98867. Depending on a couple of comparisons you may decide on one or the other. Both are Class lll hitches and have a 2 inch receiver opening. The Curt hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 400 lbs while the Draw-Tite has a 675 Lb tongue weight capacity. The Draw-Tite has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs while the Curt can tow 4,000 lbs. • Comparing Curt Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Ford Explorer
  • There is a very subtle difference between Curt hitches # C13386 and the now discontinued C13100; the orientation of the exhaust hanger brackets attached to the side flanges of the hitches. On hitch C13386 they are at a lower angle than on C13100. This allows the newer hitch, # C13386, to also fit the 2018 Ford Explorer. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4...

  • Bike Rack Comparable to the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack That Fits 2 inch Hitch Without Adapter
  • The difference between the (discontinued) Thule Parkway 958 and the Thule Camber # TH9058 is that the Camber has folding arms, and the anti-sway cradles and the Parkway does not. The anti-sway cradles help to keep your bikes from making contact with each other as you travel. If you are wanting to stick with Thule, then the only bike racks that are available that fit in the 2 inch receivers without an adapter are the 5 bike racks, and the swing-aways. Even though they are similar, they...

  • Comparing Thule AeroBlade & AeroBlade Edge Roof Racks for 2013 Ford Explorer with Raised Side Rails
  • For your 2013 Ford Explorer Sport Thule offers two types of AeroBlade roof racks, the 60-inch thru-bar type and the 39-3/4-inch Edge crossbars that provide more of an OEM look. Both bar lengths are fully compatible with your Explorer's raised side rails. You also have a choice of silver or black crossbars. Both types of rack when installed on your vehicle will have the same 165-lb weight capacity and the same 38-inch crossbar spread (the distance between the centers of the two bars). All...

  • Best Draw Tite Hitch for a 2016 Ford Explorer
  • The Draw-Tite Hitch # 76034 is a fit for your vehicle. The other Draw-Tite hitch you mentioned has been discontinued. Your liftgate will still function just fine. You just might have to run your foot under either side of the hitch opening instead. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 118540 as it is a confirmed fit as well. I attached install videos for this and the hitch for you to check out. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit...

  • Comparing Westin Step Bars for a 2012 Ford Explorer
  • Other than being black and having the same diameter there are not a lot of similarities between # 21-3605 and # 22-5025-1975. Bars # 21-3605 measure 82 inches long and # 22-5025-1975 has bars that are 75 inches long. They are also 2 different bar styles. Bars # 21-3605 are a 90 degree style. This means that they are U-shaped like you see in the picture. Bars # 22-5025-1975 are straight bars. This means that the ends of the bars do not curve in towards the vehicle like the U-shaped bars. We...
