Comparing Curt Trailer Hitches for a 2017 Ford Explorer
Question:
Hi what is the difference between the Curt #C13386 and #C13100? I see in the reviews that the C13100 and also the Draw-Tite 76034 is touching / bending up the plastic bumper of the Explorer. Does the C13386 have a better fit? Curts website also recommend C13386. C13100 is not even available anymore oh their site. Thanks for your help!

Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13386 replaced C13100 due to a slight design change between the 2017 and 2018 Ford Explorer models. Curt trailer hitch # C13386 is supposed to rest just below the rear fascia on your 2017 Ford Explorer meaning that it would not make contact with that plastic piece you mentioned.
If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
