My guess is that your Escape was not equipped with the Tow Package from the factory. The plug for the Hoppy wiring harness will be present behind the bumper, but unless the Escape has the tow package it will NOT be active. To activate, a relay will need to be placed into the wiring block located behind the dash. From what I understand, the relay would need to be obtained from your Ford Dealer.

I'd recommend reviewing the installation instructions. Check the T-connection where the taillight assemblies plug into the # C56345 harness. If the connections aren't fully seated, the vehicle taillights will not work. Push the connections together until they click, they're designed to be a tight fit.

This can occur with some Curt wiring harnesses. On a trailer with LED lights the lights may be dimly lit when the vehicle is off because the harness has a direct connection to the battery and there is some power to the 4-Way all the time.

It is possible, though very remote, that you had two faulty units. However, having two units back to back that die that quickly leads me to believe something is going on with the trailer lighting and wiring. I wonder if your trailer is demanding more power than the Modu-Lite can provide and is burning up the boxes and causing malfunctions.

If the factory trailer wiring harness in your 2014 Ford Escape does not function correctly with the LED lights on your trailer you can correct this issue by installing load resistors at each of the trailer lights. You do not need to replace the factory harness unless it has damage. Usually factory converter harnesses will be installed under dash.

That is an odd problem. Do you have access to a volt meter? You might try checking the volts of both the left and right side to see if there's a voltage drop between the two. Does the trailer have quite a bit of lights that would potentially draw too much amperage? One thing you can try which isn't ideal since it requires cutting trailer wiring is cut the left stop/turn circuit near the connector as well as the right stop/turn circuit and basically reverse the circuits and reattach them... view full answer...
It is possible that you shorted out the converter box of the trailer wiring on your 2013 Ford Escape. You will need to test the wires going into the box and then see if there is the correct output on the output wires of the box. If there isn't voltage going into the box then the connections are at fault.

To power the lightbar on your bike rack you'll need to install a second 4-pole connector # 18002 after the diodes to get the braking and turn signals from your motorhome to transfer to the bike rack as well. You'll wire it in the following fashion:
Green: Right turn/brake light.
Yellow: Left turn/brake light.
Brown: Tail/running lights.
