The most common cause for some trailer light functions to operate while others do not is a bad ground connection at either the vehicle wiring harness or the trailer-side wiring. This can happen because a weak ground will still allow some current to pass through - say enough for brake lights and turn signals that are not on all the time - but not for other functions like the running lights and license plate light that ARE on continuously.

If you have the trailer wiring harness # 118520 installed according to the instructions and it is not showing power coming out of the converter box then that indicates that the converter is bad and needs to be replaced.

I am not incredibly familiar with the Smart Brake System in your 2019 Mazda CX-9, but I do not see anything mentioning a diode when installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118278 and the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.

You may need to adjust the ball angle on the weight distribution system to level the spring bars with the trailer frame when the unit is hooked up. If the light on your dash indicates something is wrong with the engine, then the installation of the P3 part # 90195 would not be related. If the light on your dash indicates something about taillight circuits then it would be related to the stoplight circuit you used for installation of the controller.

If you notice chipped areas on your Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76020, for your 2018 Mazda CX-9, the best thing to do is lightly sand that area to get it evened out and then paint over it to prevent the rust from spreading. Since hitches are underneath the vehicle where road debris is flying around it's a good practice to routinely check the hitch for any places where it has been hit and needs a touch up.

Since all of the wiring problems are on one side of the trailer that leads me to believe the problem is in the grounding of the light assembly on that side of the trailer. A lot of light assemblies ground through the mounting hardware. You will want to make sure the assembly is connected to a clean metal surface.
