Troubleshooting Dash Light that Came on a 2012 Mazda CX-9 after Brake Controller Install
Question:
I have fitted a p3 brake controller to my cx9, picked the brake signal up from the tail light in the boot. Everything works perfectly but I now have an engine light on the dash. Is this the ECU telling me its not happy with the p3 being connected to the brake circuit ? Is there a different way to connect the p3 to a nazda cx9? Thanks

If the light on your dash indicates something is wrong with the engine, then the installation of the P3 part # 90195 would not be related. If the light on your dash indicates something about taillight circuits then it would be related to the stoplight circuit you used for installation of the controller.
If the taillight no longer illuminates that would indicate that maybe you accidentally cut the circuit of the light when you tried to tap into it opening the circuit. Either way you could try removing the connection you made there and see if the light goes away.
It would also be helpful for you to take your vehicle to an auto parts store to have them scan your vehicle for codes.
I also attached an FAQ article on brake controller installs for you to check out.
