The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 and the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 do not require the stop light switch. While these brake controllers do not require the stop light switch most proportional controllers like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 do. It uses the inertia to sense the amount of braking but still needs the stop light switch to indicate to the controller when to engage the brakes. As a result the red wire does still need to to be connected in your Mazda.

The install process for the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch part # C13315 is actually pretty simple and you do not need to remove your bumper. The only part that you need to remove is the small plastic trim piece that is on the bottom side of your fascia. Once removed you will not be re-installing it.
