Mounting Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier Trunk Mount to 2016 Mazda CX-5
Question:
I have the saris SA801BL and in the fitment instructions it states to mount the lower arms into the licence plate well. Are you able to give any more information as the images in the instructions only show the lower arms seated on top of the rear bumper? I also watched the video of the fitment to the Honda CRV on you site which has the same fitment recommendations from saris but in the video the lower legs are again seated on top of the rear bumper! Should the lower legs be placed against the trunk lid as opposed to the bumper? Thanks.

I spoke with my contact at Saris and he confirmed that for your 2016 Mazda CX-5, the proper mounting location of the lower feet on the Saris Bones 3 Bike Carrier # SA801BL is in the rear license plate well. I have attached an image with a different model Bones Bike Carrier on a CX-5, but the fitment is the same.
