It sounds like the installation kit is the Reese universal kit # RP30035. To use it on your 2012 Ram 2500 short bed you would need to add bracket # RP58186. You will also need new hardware # 58164 since the bolts are not meant to be used more than once. You can reuse the other brackets and the rails.
