What I recommend is to use Convert-A-Ball cushioned ball mount # AMSC12 and then add a high rise ball. The ball mount takes a ball with a 1 inch diameter shank. If the trailer coupler takes a 2 inch ball use high rise ball # C40034. If you need a 2-5/16 inch ball there isn't a high rise version that would fit so you would need to use a regular ball # 63847.

I have a solution for you.
First, though, the Thule Compass, part # TH890000, will not be suitable for your application. The reason for that is the fact that the Compass can only handle a total weight of 130 pounds. Your two kayaks together will weigh more than that.
