How to Add Taillights on Thule T2 Bike Rack That Blocks Taillights of 2009 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Hi, I have a Toyota Sienna 2009 LE 8-passenger version with the Curt 13105 hitch installed. I use a Thule T2 bike rack and when the bikes are installed, both the lower turn/brake lights are pretty well obscured by the bikes. For safety Id like to add lights either on the back of the rack, or perhaps on a piece of PVC and zip-tie it to the last bike. So Ill need a wiring kit, hookups, and a light kit. Can you suggest what parts I should look at for this project? Thanks!

Although it's intended for a cargo carrier, we have a light kit that work great for you. Part # 98174LED provides long lasting LED lamps that use minimal power but are very bright. You'll also need two brackets for the lamps, part # BK70BB. The brackets could be mounted to the underside of the rack using bolts or even zip ties if the idea of drilling holes in your bike rack doesn't thrill you.
Another option would be magnetic tow lamps like # RM-2120 that could be installed on top of your Sierra at the back of the vehicle.
Any of these solutions would work well for you. To power the lamps, you'd need to install a trailer wiring harness on your Sienna. I'd recommend the Tow Ready # 118304. If you click the provided link, you can see an installation video for the trailer wiring harness.
