  • Installation of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on 2018 Subaru Forester
  • I have added a link to a video of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 76182 being installed on a 2018 Subaru Forester for you to check out, and as you can see by the video - as well as the photo of the underside of the hitch which is on the product page - this hitch does fit very snugly with the spare tire. It is also going to set near the muffler bracket and so long as you have properly re-installed the exhaust hangers there is no reason to think it will break off.

  • Are the Square Blocks Needed to Install Trailer Hitch 75876 on a 2015 Subaru Forester
  • Those square spacers will be needed to install trailer hitch # 75876 because without them the bolts would just spin when you went to torque them down. Those blocks prevent that from happening. The blocks and bolts do go into the frame through the access holes on the frame rails using the fishwire technique. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.

  • What Functions Are Controlled By Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness # 118467 On A 2010 Subaru Forester
  • The Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness # 118467 will give you a 4-way trailer connector on the rear of your 2010 Subaru Forester. A 4-way connector will give you the three lighting functions (running, turn and brake lights) and the white wire is the ground wire. It does not have a wire to control the brakes. A boat trailer will normally have a 5-way connector. The extra wire is a blue wire that is connected to the reverse light circuit on the tow vehicle and will disengage the brake actuator...

  • Does Trailer Wiring Harness C56040 Require a Wire to be Run to the Battery on a 2012 Subaru Forester
  • The red wire battery connection is within the factory plug where trailer wiring harness # C56040 plugs into your 2012 Subaru Forester. So you would not have to run a wire manually since the factory wiring already has that connection. Just remember to insert the fuse in the red fuse holder that is in line on the red wire of the wiring harness. The fuse is included.

  • What Supports the Exhaust Once Hanging when Installing a Trailer Hitch on a 2012 Subaru Forester
  • It looks like our installer attached the support strap to something in the vicinity of the anti-sway bar. It doesn't really matter what it is attached to as long as it is a solid structure that won't be damaged when supporting the weight of the exhaust. The strap is supporting the exhaust once it is lowered. It isn't hanging just resting on the support strap. This would not put undue stress on the exhaust manifold. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit #...

  • Does WeatherTech Bug Deflector Affect Visibility When Driving
  • The WeatherTech bug deflector part # WT50261 that fits your 2017 Subaru Forester would not affect visibility when driving. It's just tall enough to deflect bugs and rocks over the windshield but not tall enough that it would actually get in the way.

  • Does the Draw-Tite Hitch 76182 for a 2018 Subaru Forester Require Bumper Trimming
  • Yes, the rear bumper fascia must be trimmed to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76182. This is the drawback of the hidden cross tube design. It does not call this out directly in the instructions but it does provide a diagram of the size opening that needs to be made (see photo). If you don't want to trim the rear bumper fascia then you can use the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75876 but keep in mind you will be able to see the cross tube...

  • Can You Reuse the Fastners When Upgrading to a 2 Inch Hitch on a 2018 Subaru Forester
  • The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76182 will use the same mounting holes as the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36523. However, you cannot use the same fasteners that you have now as they are different sizes (1/2" vs 7/16") and the fasteners are torque to yield which means they must be discarded after the initial torque. Therefore, you must use the new fasteners that come with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver when you install it on your 2018 Subaru...

  • How to Find Brake Switch Wire on 2015 Subaru Forester for Brake Controller Install
  • You are going to have to use a circuit tester like the part # PTW2993 to test the wires that feed into the brake switch to determine which is the correct wire to use. We haven't had the chance to install a controller on a Forester like yours so we don't have that info for you but testing the wires is pretty easy. We have heard that it's a red and white wire so start there. Basically you just need to probe both wires while pressing and releasing the brakes. If the circuit has voltage with...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Location On 2014 Subaru Forester
  • I looked at the installation instructions for your 2014 Subaru Forester and found that the wiring harness is located behind the rear panel on the driver side. The location is very similar to the Crosstrek in the attached video. The video explains how to remove the cargo tray and the panel to access the harness. I have also attached a couple of photos that show the location of the harness per the installation instructions.

  • Is There a Torque Spec for the Bolts on the Fulton Fas-Lok 2" Ball Coupler
  • Yes, there will be torque specs for the bolts that you'll use with the Fulton Fas-Lok Coupler part # F223000301 and these can be found in the included installation instructions. If you need a torque wrench, the 1/2" Drive Torque Wrench part # PTW3001C is plenty capable.

  • Safely Hauling 2 Kayaks 2017 Subaru Forester
  • Hi, that's a good question but I don't think I can answer definitively that yes you can do so "safely". The product is designed and tested with placement on the inside; that is not say that you personally can't be comfortable with the way you have loaded the kayaks. Since, per manufacturer, it has not been tested and approved for that type of placement, my suggestion is to consider use of kayak carrier such as the Rhino-Rack 2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # S512-S512X.

  • Platform Style 2 Bike Rack to Fit 1-1/4 and 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receivers
  • I have a solution for you, but the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack # Y02443 should not be used with any kind of hitch extender or hitch adapter. These are guidelines per Yakima for the HoldUp bike rack. For a great quality 2 bike, platform-style bike rack that will fit both 1-1/4 and 2 inch trailer hitches, I recommend the Kuat Transfer 2 Bike Platform Rack # KU74FR. This rack has some of the same great features as the HoldUp. The Transfer folds up against the vehicle when there are not bike...

  • Plugging Hopkins Trailer Wiring into 2017 Subaru Forester
  • You would need to unplug what's in the current port that you found on your 2017 Subaru Forester to plug in the Hopkins part # HM11143865 that you have. I attached an install video for this on a 2017 Forester for you to check out as well.

  • Do Frame Holes Need to be Enlarged to Install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on 2019 Subaru Forester
  • I can confirm for you that you do not need to enlarge any holes in the frame of your 2019 Subaru Forester in order to install either of the Draw-Tite trailer hitches that fit your vehicle: - Class II with 1-1/4" Receiver: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36671 - Class III with 2" Receiver: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76271 The reason is, the Draw-Tite hitches use the larger rear frame access hole to fishwire the spacers and bolts through, so the hardware will fit without needing...

  • Can Derale D13760 Hyper-Cool Transmission Cooler and D13021 Thermostat Be Installed Upside Down
  • If you're speaking of the # D13021 Hyper Cool Remote cooler with fan, yes the fan can also be mounted upside down. It IS a remote fan and doesn't need to be directly in the wind generated by the vehicle driving down the road, but it will need access to airflow it can pull across the coils. For example you wouldn't want to install in in a confined space. If you're speaking of the thermostat, It can certainly be installed upside down, as a matter of fact that's how it's shown in the instructions...

  • How To Install A Hitch On A 2022 Subaru Forester
  • When installing The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2 inch # e83ZR onto your vehicle you do have to remove the 4 heat shield attachments and remove the underbody panel but you will attach it back on after. After removal of the heat shield you will enlarge the center hole on each side of the frame rail to about 1-1/8 inches to allow the mounting hardware to pass through. Then you will fishwire the 1/2 inch carriage bolt and spacer through the...

  • Will I Need Help Installing the Draw-Tite DT82QR Hitch On My 2020 Rav4 XSE Hybrid
  • It usually a good idea to have an extra set of hands when installing a hitch like the Draw-Tite # DT82QR (and most hitches for that matter), so you'll likely need to find someone to give you a hand. If you're still unable to get it installed, you can try some other things. You can use a ratchet strap to keep the hitch pulled up while you attach the bolts. You could also use a scissor jack or jack stands to help hold the hitch in place while you're securing the bolts; I've seen all of these...
