Do Frame Holes Need to be Enlarged to Install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch on 2019 Subaru Forester
Question:
Hello! I watched your installation video and it was great. I believe it was for a 2020 forester, and no enlargement of the frame rail holes was necessary. Is that also true for a 2019 forester? I would rather get the Curt class 2 hitch because it costs a good amount less, but it requires enlarging the holes. Please confirm the Draw Tite hitch does not require enlarging the frame rail holes on a 2019 forester. Thanks!!

I can confirm for you that you do not need to enlarge any holes in the frame of your 2019 Subaru Forester in order to install either of the Draw-Tite trailer hitches that fit your vehicle:
- Class II with 1-1/4" Receiver: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36671
- Class III with 2" Receiver: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76271
The reason is, the Draw-Tite hitches use the larger rear frame access hole to fishwire the spacers and bolts through, so the hardware will fit without needing to be enlarged.
Additionally, I wanted to mention that if you were going to be using this hitch for towing and needed a wiring harness, the correct part is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467.
