The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2006 Ford Mustang Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11312 which is a confirmed fit for V6 models. Then for a trailer wiring harness, the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester # 18252 would work well for you.
In order to complete the towing setup, you'll need the Draw-Tite Drawbar part # 3592 (Use in the rise position) and the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball part # 19256 or 2" Hitch Ball part # 19258. This setup will give you a hitch ball height of around 15" which... view full answer...

For a 2017 Ford Mustang GT will need a trailer hitch installed or a trunk mounted option like the SeaSucker Komodo # 298-BK1910-SV that only carries one bike.
For the hitch mounted option, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Sport, part # 24928. This will provide a trailer hitch receiver for a bike rack on the rear of your vehicle, and installs without drilling or cutting. I've included a video of it being installed on a 2015 Ford Mustang so you can get familiar with the installation process.... view full answer...

There are some tow bars that will fit Roadmaster or Blue Ox base plates using an adapter. But I would have to know the brand and model of the tow bar to be sure.
For example, adapter # RM-032 will allow you to use Roadmaster base plates with Demco Aluminator, Excali-bar and Kwik-Tow and Ready Brute Elite tow bars.
Adapter # RM-025 will allow you to use Roadmaster base plates with Draw-Tite (2480), Reese (74950), Valley, EAZ-Lift and Tow Ready (63180) tow bars.

Auto makers like Ford cannot test their vehicles with all the possible combinations of aftermarket parts available, such as trailer hitches and specialized exhausts. Installation of one of the light-duty Class I hitches offered for the 2015 Ford Mustang Fastback, such as Draw-Tite # 24928, will require that your boyfriend review the linked instructions for this hitch and determine if the exhaust system he's installed will interfere with installation.
