Video Transcript for Review of Diamond Lights - Load Resistors - DI34ZR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the 50 watt load resister kit for the LED turn signals. It is for a quantity of two resistors. Now these load resistors will prevent hyperflashing on your turn signals with LED bulbs. It's designed to work with most import and domestic vehicles. You can see they are a nice compact design.

They'll fit into tight spaces. These are compatible with 12 volt DC systems. They will surface mount behind your vehicle headlights and the connection plugs are included. The quick connect plugs, which will let you easily connect to your power source. A few specs again, it's two load resistors.

Wattage is 50 watts, electrical resistance is six ohms, and last thing I want to do is just give you dimensions on the resistor. The length on it, right at two inches long. The width, including the mounting brackets, it's right at one and a quarter inches wide. And the overall height of it is right at 11 16ths of an inch tall. But that should do it for the review on the 50 watt load resistor kit for the LED turn signals..

This product fixed my trailer LED light issues while connected to my 2020 Silverado HD. I used 1 of these on each circuit to place proper load on circuit so that the truck would recognize the trailer was connected and allow the lights to function properly.

Installed LED lights on a 2010 RAM Truck and the turn signals were hyper flashing. Sent for the Load Resistor Kit and the problem was solved, easy install and support was great - did not need much support, only one question and they got back to me quickly. Great product, thank you.

The LED tail lights work as expected and easy to install. I didn't need the resistors but will keep them for possible
future needs.

by:

They didn't solve my problem my trailer lights still flash and in fact I had ti remove them because they made the problem more pronounced.

Good transaction, will use again.

Converted recently to LED lights on my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500. Although the manufacturer assured me the LED replacement lights were simple plug-n-play & thus did not need resistors to prevent hyper-flash… WRONG, rear signals did not play well w/ others. Jesse M identified the correct resistor set, shipping was fast & the frustrating hyper-flash eliminated immediately. Thanks Jesse!

Great Service

This is the second set I ordered. I replaced all my lights on my Toyota with LED's and the hyper flash issue came to light. I knew a resistor would work but didn't know exactly what to get. I called and as usual, etrailer was extremely helpful. The customer service lady suggested what to purchase and I did. The resister set arrived early which was wonderful, however in packaging they pretty much weaken the wiring as they fold them over to get them in the clam shell. Both resisters look pretty frail and I fear the wires will break eventually. I went ahead and installed them and unfortunately they only fixed my hazard lights, turn signals still hyper flash. I ordered a second set to put one at each corner. The packaging was the exact same. GGGGRRR. I have not installed these yet but I hope they fix my problem and the wires do not break. The set is affordable but my only complaint about etrailer is the shipping. I have had instances where it's cheaper to keep product then to return it.

by:

It was easy to install the resistor with quick connect clips, I wish there was some instructions with the packaging. I didn't know if it matters what side of resistor was connected to positive. I decided to just install them and fixed my hyper flashing the new led tail lights.

by:

LED Rules!

by:

Quick processing & shipment. Product was also packaged well.

by:

Took care of the hyper problem.

by:

Easy to hookup. Was on time.

  • How to Fix Rapid Turn Signal Flashing When Converting Incandescent Lights to LEDs
What you are dealing with is called hyperflashing. You will want to use the Load Resistor Kit for LED Turn Signals item # DI34ZR to fix it. LED lights don't draw as much power as incandescent lights so there are issues with fast flashing until a resistor is added. The resistor increases the amperage draw to resemble incandescent lights. The resistors will install directly behind the turn signals. I don't know what you mean by four way flasher but you'll need one of these per turn signal...

  • Will Adding LED Tail Lights to a Trailer Cause Hyper Flashing on a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 or Trailer
No, the LED trailer lights should not affect the turn signal functions at all on the vehicle or tow package wiring. In the unlikely event of hyper flashing on the trailer you would add a load resistor to each affected circuit to create more load on the system. For a 2-pack of load resistors use # DI34ZR.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights and Trailer Connector Installed on 2004 Toyota Sienna
Typically, a load resistor like # DI34ZR isn't used unless the tow vehicle has a bulb out sensor. Because LED trailer lamps draw but a fraction of power used by incandescent bulbs, the bulb out sensor thinks there's a bulb burned out in the system and makes the turn signals hyperflash. I don't think this is the situation in your case. You'll need to do some basic troubleshooting, beginning with the trailer connector on your vehicle. Unplug the trailer and use a circuit tester like part...

  • Left Turn Signal of 2016 Ford F-250 Stops Working When Using Ford LED Trailer Hitch Cover
It sounds like your 2016 Ford F-250 senses the load of Ford LED Hitch Cover # CR-007F but since the power draw is so low it thinks there is an issue. The only solution to this we've seen is to install load resistors, like # DI34ZR, to simulate more power draw. Another possibility is you could have a short on your 4-way trailer connector. Make sure it's clean and free of any corrosion. You can also test each function of the 4-way connector with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to make...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller Not Seeing Connection with In-Bed Connector
Since the brake controller can see the connection to your trailer at your bumper 7-way, the first thing I would check is if your brake controller is getting power to your bed 7-way. Use an incandescent tester like # PTW2993 and connect to the brake controller pin (5 o'clock position). When you connect it, does your brake controller recognize connection? Does the incandescent light get brighter as you slowly increase the manual override on your brake controller? If it doesn't function,...

  • Will the Load Resistor Kit Solve The Bulb Out Error On a 2018 Ram 3500 Flat Bed
It does sound like the Load Resistor Kit # DI34ZR will fix your bulb out issue on your 2018 Ram 3500 with a flat bed. Each resistor mounts in line just before the led tail light. This adds resistance to the wiring which will give the illusion the LED bulb is pulling more power similar to a incandescent light bulb. If your brake lights are separate from the turn signal you may need additional resistors for the separate brake lights as well if they are also causing a bulb out error. As far...

  • Do LED Trailer Lights Work with 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 Tow Package Wiring
I have not heard of there being any issues with using trailer LED lights with a 2004 Chevy Silverado. It is an issue on some German vehicles and theoretically could be an issue on any vehicle. But as far as specifically hearing about issues with your generation Chevy truck I have not heard anything. Most LED light problems are a result of the LED lights drawing so little power that the tow vehicle doesn't recognize them. The fix for this is to install load resistors, such as # DI34ZR,...

  • 2013 Ford Escape Shows Bulb Out when Trailer with LED Lights is Connected
The bulb out error or hyper flashing can occur any time LED lights are used in place of incandescent lights. Usually this issue is found on vehicles but has been know to occur on trailers as well. You will need to make the tow package wiring on the vehicle think there is more draw from the lights. To do this I recommend using load resistors on the affected circuits. If the trailer lights use the 3-prong plug like # ST70RB you can use # ALEDRST1B. Or you could install resistors such as...

It's included 4-pole harness is 25-feet long. LEDs use so little power that they can sometimes confuse a wiring harness. The simple fix to this issue is to use load resistors. These add resistance to the system and fool the harness into thinking it is sensing the resistive load typical of a standard incandescent bulb. Load...

  • Load Resistors Needed When Installing Aftermarket LED Bulbs In GMC Sierra To Prevent Hyperflashing
Per Putco, you would need 1 load resistor inline with the wiring harness feeding LED bulb for a turn signal. I believe your Sierra has two bulbs per side, one for the running lamp, one for the brake/turn signal. You only need to install Load Resistors on the circuits feeding the turn signals. I recommend the Diamond # DI34ZR resistors. Their finned aluminum body will be very effective at shedding excess heat. I have provided a diagram showing how the resistors should be wired.

  • Why Wont a Cam Am Trailer for a Spyder Work with a Honda Goldwing
Motorcycles typically have separate turn signals and brake light circuits. The Spyder might have combined brake lights and turn signals which could explain why the trailer made by the same company that makes the Spyder works with it and not the Honda. It could also be that there isn't enough load from the LED lights for the wiring harness on the Honda to recognize that something is drawing power. In this case you would need to add load resistors, # DI34ZR, on each affected circuit. They...

It may not work the same for other applications like on your Land Rover.
