LED Trailer Lighting Kit and Load Resistors to Prevent Hyperflashing

Question:

Hi, 2012 Taurus with your C56093 wiring harness for four wire trailer. I want to convert to LED - I understand I should do both side and rear lights at the same time? Will your LED kits work OK with the C56093 as they draw so little current? Do you have an LED kit with two side and two tail lamps for my application? Thanks

We do offer complete LED-type trailer lighting kits such as Optronics # TLL9RK. This DOT-approved kit includes everything you need for a trailer under 80-inches in width. It's included 4-pole harness is 25-feet long.

LEDs use so little power that they can sometimes confuse a wiring harness. The simple fix to this issue is to use load resistors. These add resistance to the system and fool the harness into thinking it is sensing the resistive load typical of a standard incandescent bulb.

Load resistors should be installed at each light. Use kit # DI34ZR which is a set of two that includes the quick-splice connectors.
