UWS Slim Line Series offers full-size features for smaller truck beds by using the limited space in front of the wheel well. The toolbox sits along the truck bed 4" above the rails, fitting snugly behind the cab. The insulated, beveled, single lid opens to a full 90 degrees with the help of two super-duty lift cylinders, which raise the lid and hold it open as you load and unload your gear. The divided tool tray provides additional storage for smaller items, ensuring that they are readily available.

Today were going to review part number UWS00278. This is the UWS truck bed toolbox. It is the narrow crossover style and it is the slim line. This crossover saddle style toolbox will hang from the truck bed rails behind the cab. Its made from an aluminum construction. It has fully welded seams which will guarantee not to rust.
It does use two stainless steel paddle latches that you just pull up on and it will release the lid to open. It does have a stainless steel lock on the driver side that includes two keys. Basically, if you just turn the key a quarter of a turn, itll lock the latches from opening and protect your contents of your toolbox. Another nice feature, its probably going to be a little hard to see but theres a connecting rod that connects the two latches so you just need to open one and youll open the both of them. On the inside, that connecting rod is exposed and to keep it from being exposed or getting damaged, they put a connecting rod enclosure which will prevent anything in here from hitting that rod and bending it or jamming it.
Its a nice feature also. The lid is a beveled lid. The edges are beveled. It features a patented foam filled lid which will provide insulation and protection from the elements. It is also a structural foam which will reinforce the shape and strength of the lid.
On the inside is a dust barrier that goes around the whole inside of the lid so that when you close it, that dust barrier will help protect the contents inside your toolbox from the outside elements. On each end is a heavy-duty gas cylinder, which will help lift the lid and hold it open a full 90 degrees. As you can see, if you start to open this, pretty much the cylinder will push it up the rest of the way. This lid is attached to the toolbox by a full-length piano hinge, which is a nice feature. It will give a nice structural rigidity to the lid so that when you open and close it on one end, itll do it equally.
It does contain a divided tray. Its an aluminum tray that you can put small parts in. Itll slide back and forth on the inside. It does also come with the J bolt installation hardware, which is included. This part is made in the USA. Ill give you a few dimensions on this. The overall length on this box is 60 inches. The width is 12 inches and the total height is 9 inches. Now when you do close this lid, that will add about an inch to those dimensions. The interior capacity is a 3.2 cubic feet of usable space. This box is built with a .063 aluminum tread plate construction and this is where it sits on the truck bed rails. Actually, it will sit about 4 inches above the truck bed rails. This part does come with a one-year warranty. That should do it for our review of part number UWS00278.

Yes, small enough to clear out my back seat area. And some jumper cables, and some camping gear, and miscellaneous items. It arrived well packaged. It took me about 10-15 minutes to install - heck, it took me just as long to unpack it. Not damaged. My truck is a short bed and I need as much space as necessary - camping stuff or a mountain bike or a kayak or two, you know, the usual “weekend warrior” stuff.
Seems like a great product. Heavier sheet metal than others I looked at. Lid and latches seem solid.
Gotta love etrailer. Unit arrived earlier than expected and packaged well with no damage. Service was awesome.
Awesome UWS toolbox and excellent service from etrailer.com. The toolbox fits my F150 perfectly, and I had to install new Back Rack mounts. The toolbox is large enough to hold all the hitches, compression straps, tow straps, jumper cables, and bungee nets that were piled high behind our seats. It arrived in perfect condition, and it locks easily. It also opens with only one handle. The toolbox is the perfect size so I still have access to the area underneath for plastic tubs, or the front end of kayaks. Score a really great one for etrailer.com and UWS.
Incredibly well packaged. Look at UWS website for vid. Of how meticulous they are. Watch other videos for installation. Matter of minutes. Very well constructed. Only gripe I have is e trailer video showing measurements shows 12in.front to back (depth). In reality 4 in.up from the bottom, around the entire box sets in one inch thus leaving only 10 inches of space,not 12 for the bottom 4 inchesofthebox. Cohld havebeenamoreaccuratemeasurement. I cannotseethe lid from my rear view mirror which I like. About a foot of space under the box for cargo. A definite plus in a short bed. Best on line price was from e trailer. Arrived in 6 days direct from manufacturer. Very pleased overall, no more stuff on the floor of my cab.
I’m a forester and it holds everything I need everyday. Small and compact and works like a charm. Keeps plenty of room available in a 5 foot bed.

I searched online for a narrow cross over box and found something at a couple of sites, but etrailer had exactly what I wanted, offered the best box and at a competitive price. Check out was easy and they upgraded my shipping to 3 days for free. It arrived just as they projected. The box fit my truck perfectly and I am completely satisfied. This Slim Line Series - 6.3 cu ft works very good with the side boxes on both sides of the truck. Have access to open from standing on the side of the pickup truck with the side boxes installed. Makes a nice combination for a pickup truck Installed on a 2022 F-150 6'5" bed.
I have a short box Ram 2500. I also pull a 5th wheel camper. A regular sized box would interfere with the hitch. This box works perfectly. It is not super heavy duty, but a good value for the price.
This tool box was a little tricky to install. I had a professional mechanic help me. It is now properly installed and looks great on my truck. I was so happy to discover that a slimline toolbox was indeed available. My crew cab Tacoma only as has a five-foot bed. A larger tool box would have left me with only about 3.5 feet of bed. This slimline box allowed me to retain four feet of bed, which fits my needs. Very fine box. Good workmanship. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to others who need a slimline design.
Toolbox arrived in good condition and fit exactly how I hoped it would.
Waited 3 weeks for tool box and payed $40 for special handling by UPS. Tool box was poorly packed in plain cardboard box and had two significant dents in it. etrailer offered for me to ship the box back for credit or give me a $60 refund for damage. I guess that means they are waiving the $40 for 'special handling' and taking a $20 hit themselves - wow. I kept the box and pounded out dents with rubber hammer best I could.
Not too satisfying...Beware
It definitely fits the truck better. The only thing I don't like are the hydraulics - they are WAAAY too stiff - it takes a herculean effort to close the lid.

Box is has been good and fits the needs I had. The the slim box, leaves more bad for short beds. It did show up with a small ding when delivered, but it was on the back side so I didn’t worry about it.
