11" Wide x 6-3/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep, radiator-style heat exchanger improves the performance and overall functioning of your vehicle's transmission. Includes hose-barb adapters to fit the 1/2" NPT inlets.

Features:

  • Prolongs life of transmission
  • Improves overall performance
  • Prevents heat-related failures
  • Has furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 1-1/4" wide turbulator plates for more efficient cooling
  • Includes complete mounting kit, OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps, Insta-dapt radiator adapter and hose-barb fittings
  • Recommended for mid-size cars, trucks and SUVs

Specs:

  • Inlets: 1/2" NPT
  • Fittings: 1/2" NPT x 3/8" hose barb
  • Overall dimensions: 11" wide x 6-3/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep
  • Distance between inlets: 8-7/8"
  • Mounting dimensions: 6-3/4" wide x 5-1/2" tall
  • 1-Year warranty

Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

Kit had almost everything needed to install on my 09 Subaru Forester. The only extra thing I bought was another four foot length of hose.

I made brackets out of metal I had on hand for a more secure mounting, and I installed the cooler with the ports facing the drivers side. I wanted to avoid sharp bends in the hoses so I made loops in both hoses to connect to the existing lines in my car. I also slid pieces of old garden hose over the new hoses at points where it was close to metal parts to avoid chafing of the hoses. The hose supplied with the kit was the correct diameter for my car and the hoses slid onto the existing fittings.

I took my time with the install. I had to move the horn so I could position the cooler on the drivers side in front of the radiator and AC condenser. Routing of the hoses to the existing connections required some planning (and an extra hose) but everything else is very simple.

Very nice kit!

Quick service and delivery, packed good, no damage. Would buy from again when the need arises.

Installing the D13612 cooler on a Bolens HT20 tractor to help keep the hydraulic/hydrostat temperature down to normal operating range. Not finished yet with the installation.

great product and shipping and packaging is excellent

by:

I had this installed and after 1 month it started to leak from the fins. I ordered another, had it installed and it has worked with no problems. etrailer took the defective cooler back no problem and gave me a full refund. Excellent customer service

by:

Exactly as described, looks and feels well made. Mounting and. hookup was straightforward and reasonably simple. Working perfectly so far. Love all the videos of products! This helps so much. Keep up the great job.

My vehicle originally did not have a transmission cooler. After warming up, my transmission temperature would typically be 100 degrees higher than the ambient air temperature, whether moving or stopped. Towing the largest enclosed U-Haul trailer (6'x12') would raise the temperature to about 120 degrees above ambient.

After adding this cooler, the transmission stays about 70 degrees higher than the ambient air temperature on the highway, and 80-85 degrees above ambient while parked or driving in slow traffic. I haven't towed that same U-Haul trailer since adding the cooler, but towing a much larger (8.5'x20') enclosed trailer raises the temperature to about 110 degrees above ambient.

If you can find a spot the cooler will physically fit, it should work for your vehicle. You may have to get creative to solidly mount it. I used an angle grinder to remove part of a factory brace. When doing work in this area of your vehicle, be careful not to puncture the AC condenser! If you do, like I did, you will have to replace it. Some AutoZone locations will rent a vacuum pump and manifold gauge set. Doing your own repair means the total repair cost is only the sum of the new AC condenser and refrigerant.

The inlet/outlet NPT fittings on this cooler need to be tighter than you think. I was worried about stripping the threads, and didn't tighten them enough at first. I ended up removing my bumper cover multiple times to tighten them until they stopped leaking. I found the best way to detect a leak was to zip-tie a folded paper towel below the fitting. If it turned red, there was a leak. For my application, I would have preferred built-in 3/8" hose barb inlets instead of the 1/2" NPT fittings.

The product is great, the only issue I had was that it did not have the correct connectors for the Jeep Wrangler, but I was able to get some quickly. It's kept my Jeep's Trans fluid temp nice and cool, even when pulling my 3k pound travel trailer.. GREAT!

by:

Easy to install and has worked great on my '06 4Runner v6. A little extra piece of mind for the mountains. This size just barely fits on the passenger side of the radiator - there is a central, vertical support bar behind the grill that prevents a wider cooler from fitting.

by:

Great product, it was as described online, and arrived on time, would definitely purchase again!

by:

The first cooler leaked within 1 month of installation but I returned it for a full refund, got another, and the second one has worked perfectly for the last year. etrailer has customer service second to none!

by:

I can not install the transmission cooler BECAUSE the other parts ordered has not arrived.

by:

2006 GMC 1500
This product is solidly
designed and the installation kit well thought out. The connection hose was heavier and better quality than what the auto parts store could provide. I will be adding additional clamps to the connections so there are two on each just as a precaution against leakage. The single clamps are working well for my test period. I fabricated brackets for mine but using the plastic pins would work just as well. It is a huge improvement over the factory cooler. I would recommend it to anyone that is towing near or at truck capacity.

by:

This Transmission cooler really works well. It keeps my transmission much cooler while towing heavy trailers. I connected it in series with the factory coolers for a lower operating temperature. If towing or hauling heavy loads I recommend this plate cooler. Also plates remove more heat than tubes.

i recived my Derale Series
9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets - Class I -Extra Efficient - D13611 and i really like it its well built and it look to be heavy duty and am looking forward to installing it.thanks again for a great item.

by:

I have been happy with the Derale transmission cooler. Installation was simple enough and one year later it is still working fine

by:

Installation was relatively easy- quality product.

by:

This oil cooler has really helped improve the oil pressure in my GEN III Hemi by reducing the oil temperate approximately 20 degrees cooler than before we installed it. Excellent product by Derale and service by etrailer.com.

by:

The cooler was easy to install, the instruction were easy to follow. I did check the oil temp after pulling a 4000 ft grade pulling a camp trailer with an electronic temp probe and there was a 50 deg temp drop thru the cooler.

by:

Pretty easy to install. Worked great. Prior to adding this transmission cooler my transmission temps would routinely go over 200F so before I installed the cooler I had my transmission serviced. Thankfully no issues or burnt ATF. After installation the temps never went over 190F even towing in the south Louisiana heat. Great product and I'd buy again if needed.

by:

Packaging was damaged but no damage to cooler due to solid construction. Had done online searches for installation tips and suggestions. All very beneficial. However, this cooler is larger than many I saw online and I had to find an alternate installation location. I was able to find a suitable location in front of radiator and minor modification (drilled two additional mounting holes in mount bracket and trimmed one corner for clearance.) Overall has shown lower transmission operating temps. Have not towed since installation and hope that lower temps carry over to towing a load. I give this product, shipping, and customer service a thumbs up.

by:

This was easy to mount in front of the radiator, and connections were correct to run as 2nd trans cooler for Armada, towing 6500lbs. Immediate change to about 15-20 degrees on long uphill climbs. Just need to inform the tranny guys that it takes more fluid whenever you get a change.

by:

My original transmission cooler sprung a leak on my 1990 dodge pickup and a direct replacement couldn't be found. Etrailer had a cooler that would fit and do the job. Would highly recommend them to solve your problems and supply what's needed.

by:

Installed on a 2005 Chevy Suburban 5.3 V8 and took about 2 hours from start to finish. Installation was simple and was able to mount on the A frame in front of the radiator. Installation instructions was clear and was helpful with determine the supply and return lines. Fittings matched up perfect with no need to change out. I had to purchase another 4' of hose but the cooler was a lot simpler to install than I had expected.

by:

Works great to cool the air going into my Air Compressor tank.

by:

Good product, but don't make the mistake I made like drilling a hole in the air conditioner condenser. Should have put a piece of metal or something in case my drill went through too fast. Well, live and learn. Bob

  • Transmission Cooler and Radiator Adapter Fitting for 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
The Derale # D13612 will work just fine for your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. The cooler includes the hose, hose clamps and necessary hardware for installation, but you'll also need the # D13035 adapter fitting. The cooler would install inline with the return line from the radiator to the transmission as shown in the provided video which will walk you through the installation process. The video shows a slightly different cooler being used, but the procedure would be just about identical with...

To install the Derale 9000 Transmission Cooler part # D13612 in your 2002 Chevy Z71 5.3L Silverado all you would need additionally is the snap in adapter part # D13035. I attached a set of installation instructions for this transmission cooler for you to check out as well as an install video that shows a similar cooler being installed in a similar vehicle.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2012 Honda Accord Sedan
The largest cooler you can fit in front of the radiator or AC condenser is the best recommendation for your Honda Accord and transmission. You'll want a cooler with the highest class rating possible. I have included a link to all of the plate-fin coolers that are a fit for your vehicle. You will need to measure to be sure that the cooler will fit in the area provided on your vehicle. If you find you have room, I would recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit #...

  • Is a Transmission Cooler Recommended for a 2007 Toyota Sienna Towing a 1,500 lb Camper
Adding a transmission cooler would be a good idea, especially if you will be towing during the summer. Overheating is one of the main causes of transmission failure and towing a trailer puts more stress on the engine and transmission. Transmission fluid cannot be over cooled, so it is best to install the largest and most efficient cooler that will fit. A cooler that I would recommend for your 2007 Toyota Sienna is the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, # D13612. This cooler...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 with 5.3 Liter
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so you can use any one that fits in the available space under the hood of your 2008 GMC Sierra. The most popular cooler for your truck is # D13503. But you can use # D13612 is you want. It will not provide as much cooling as # D13503. To avoid having to cut and flare lines I also recommend using fitting # D13035. The factory lines from the transmission to the radiator are likely lower on the radiator but following the lines from the transmission...

  • Comparing Different Types of Transmission Coolers for a 2006 Subaru Outback Wagon
The reason you do not see any cooling capacity figures for a transmission cooler is because there are just too many variables at hand to give any sort of accurate estimates. These variables have to do with ambient temperature, mounting location, etc. That said, there is a way to compare the coolers and that is by their construction; tube-and-fin (least efficient), plate-and-fin (moderately efficient), stacked-plate (most effective). The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2003 Acura MDX
I would suggest the largest plate and fin transmission cooler that will fit on your vehicle to provide the most cooling.Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle. You cannot cool the transmission fluid too much so there is no worry of installing a cooler that is too large. The only precaution with a very large cooler is to let the engine warm a bit on bitterly cold days before taking...

  • Difference Between Derale Transmission Cooler # D33602 and # D13612
The difference between the Derale Coolers part # D33602 and # D13612 is a very minor size difference and one comes with install hardware. Essentially the part # D33602 is a little over an inch taller so it has slightly more cooling power. Since the cooling power wouldn't be noticeable different I'd go with the kit that includes the mounting hardware # D13612 .

  • Recommended Derale Transmission Cooler for 1997 GMC Safari
Both the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13613 and # D13612 will work for your application but I recommend going with the slightly larger # D13613. The 8-7/8 inch height on this unit (compared to 6-3/8 inches on the # D13612) will provide more space for the fluid to travel and thus allow for more efficient cooling on your GMC Safari. The included radiator adapter will fit most vehicles with 5/16 inch transmission lines but it's possible that you may need to cut or...

The Derale Transmission Cooler # D13612 will install after the radiator of your 2010 Ford F-150. You'll need to find the return line which will be the cooler of the transmission lines when the engine is warmed up. If you have 5/8 inches-18 transmission line fittings you would use the Transmission Cooler Fitting, # D13025. • Can a Transmission Cooler Be Mounted with the Hose Fittings Facing Down
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, # D13612, can be mounted in any orientation that you need including having the hose fittings down. This transmission cooler is not a low pressure drop cooler with the cold fluid bypass. The line pressure from the transmission will push all of the fluid through the cooler regardless of how it is mounted. My recommendation on mounting this transmission cooler is finding a location that maximizes air flow through the cooler. Ideally, this...
