Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2012 Honda Accord Sedan
Question:
2012 Accord 4dr sedan, 4cyl. EX-L 1000 lb tolling capacity. Please recommend tran cooler for long distance/hilly terrain, max weight. Do not want to mount to existing radiator, want to mount to existing metal radiator mounting frame. In winter car warms very slowly, so also want a in-line thermostatically controlled valve. Need kits that match fillings and line/hose I,D, of car. Thanks!

The largest cooler you can fit in front of the radiator or AC condenser is the best recommendation for your Honda Accord and transmission. You'll want a cooler with the highest class rating possible. I have included a link to all of the plate-fin coolers that are a fit for your vehicle. You will need to measure to be sure that the cooler will fit in the area provided on your vehicle. If you find you have room, I would recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13612. This is the smallest cooler that I would recommend for your vehicle, at 11 inches wide by 6-3/8 inches tall by 1-1/4 inches deep.
As for installation, the kit includes the complete mounting kit, the OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps and Insta-dapt radiator adapter. I spoke with my contact at Derale and he said the Insta-dapt radiator adapter will work with your Accord.
To mount the transmission cooler you can use the Universal Bendable Mounting Kit # D13002.
For a fluid control thermostat I recommend Derale Fluid Control Thermostat with 3/8" NPT Ports # D25791.
I attached an install video and some helpful FAQ articles for you to check out.
