Optronics BUL23 Series DOT LED Back Up Light Diagram

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

PL-2 Wiring Connection

Optronics PL-2 Connection

This light has an industry-standard PL-2 connection as pictured above. The light accepts a 2-prong plug (A45CB -sold separately). The plug connects to 2 of the points on the PL-2 connection for power and ground. And the plug covers the unused third point on the connection to seal it against dirt and moisture.

Recessed-Mount Light

Recessed mount light

Recessed-mount trailer lights install underneath a housing or a grommet (A45GB - sold separately). These lights will extend into the mounting surface and require that a hole be cut into your trailer.

  • Replacement Backup Light for Peterson 426E on Motorhome
    The Peterson 426E is a grommet mount lamp which is 4 inches in diameter. We don't offer that particular lamp, but it cross referenced to several lamps offered by Optronics. Here's what's available: • # BU45CB is a in incandescent lamp that could be used as a reverse light. Compatible with 12V systems • # BUL06CB is a 6-diode LED lamp. 12V compatible • # BUL11CB is a 10-diode LED. 12V compatible • # M826C-7 is a 7-diode LED. 12V compatible • # BUL53CB is a 36-diode LED. 14V compatible •...

  • Can I use a Halogen Spotlight as a Reverse Light to See Better Behind my Horse Trailer
These will certainly provide enough light. My concern would be that they provide too much light and would considered rear-facing headlights. There are DOT restrictions about how bright rear-ward facing lights can be so as drivers behind you are not blinded. The Custer Halogen Light you were looking at does not comply with this regulation. I would suggest instead, using brighter reverse lights. We have several backup LED lights that will be brighter than standard incandescent lights, but...

  • Installation of Extra Reverse Lights on 2006 Ford F-250
The amp draw is 4.5 amps per light or 9 amps for 2 lights on the Optronics 55-Watt Halogen, Multi-Directional, Area Utility Light # QH16CTS. With that much amperage draw I would not recommend to connect them to your factory wiring harness. It could cause overloading problems and damage your vehicles wiring harness. If you want to install the 55-watt lights on your 2006 Ford F-250 you will need to use the Draw-Tite Wiring Kit # 118151. This kit will allow you to run a separate 12 gauge...

  • How to Mount Optronics LED Backup Light # BUL23CB on a Trailer
The Optronics backup light # BUL23CB, is a flush mount light. You would drill a hole 4-5/16 inches in diameter in the surface you wanted to mount the light to. You would then wire in the pig tail harness, # A49PB, to the trailer wiring. Then mount the light in the grommet, # A45GB, attach the wiring to the light and push it into the hole.

  • What Is The Amperage Draw On The Optronics 55-Watt Halogen Utility Light # QH16CTS
The amp draw is 4.5 amps per light on the Optronics 55-Watt Halogen, Multi-Directional, Area Utility Light # QH16CTS. If used on your 2004 Chevy Silverado you will need to use the Draw-Tite Wiring Kit # 118151. This kit will allow you to run a separate 12 gauge wire with a 10 amp in-line fuse to the positive side of the vehicles battery. This will keep the lights from drawing power on your factory wiring harness which could cause problems. You will also want to be careful when installing...

  • Comparing Lumen Output Optronics Round LED Reverse Lights
The Optronics DOT LED Backup Light # BUL23CB don't have a lumen rating from the manufacturer. Based strictly on conversions it will be somewhere between 300 and 400 lumens based on the voltage and amperage. When using the same conversions the GloLight LED Backup Light # BUL101CB will be brighter at right around 500 lumens. The ONE LED Backup Light # BUL003CB will be the least bright at somewhere around 300 lumens. I've attached videos that compare the light in a dark room to assist...
