Ordered this part and was left in silence for 4 days. I called etrailer and was told the part had not shipped yet. I asked if there were a better or similar part. The representative helped me find a better part for comparable price. I was instructed to cancel the original part due to it not shipping yet and they would send out the new one. An hour later I received an email that the cancelled part had shipped, and I could no longer cancel the item, instead when it showed up to me I could send it back for $[XX] shipping that I pay.! day later the wrong part and the right part show up together and the shipping box is demolished and has bent ears at securing points. Parts this size andd weight should not be sent this way, poor planning on etrailer side.

The Good:
* The hitch is beefy, made
from heavy gauge steel with good looking welds.
* Straight-forward installation.

The Bad:
* The rearward mounting flanges were splayed out bit, so I had to both bend them back in a bit with a come-along as well as clearance the rivet holes.
* The hitch labels were already peeling upon delivery. I had to carefully peel them off fully, remove and clean the old adhesive residue, and re-glue with industrial rubber cement.
* The shipping box from etrailer.com was inadequate and not up to the task. The box was only single-corrugated, and there was no packing material like foam or cardboard dunnage to keep the hitch and accessories from tumbling about in the box. During shipping all the staples ripped free, and the shipper's OS&D department crudely taped the box up with two whole strips of tape, but then during the final leg of delivery they ripped and it arrived open. The result is the hitch arrived scratched and scuffed.

Final thoughts:
The hitch seems well-built and heavy duty. But it does hang a bit lower than I would prefer. Drilling the two rear-most holes took a while, and I had to stop to sharpen the bit a number of times, the steel is very hard. The forward holes were already present, but had to be enlarged. With the fuel tank installed it is tricky but can be done.
The etrailer.com ordering process was easy and turn-around was fast, but the packaging was terrible. If I was not in a rush I would have sent the hitch back due to the scratches. I spent $300+ so I expected the paint to look nice and to protect from rust.

by:

Definitely a nice piece of hardware, it bolted right up.

by:

I received the hitch yesterday and just got it mounted. I couldn't be happier with it, is about as stout and well built hitch as I've ever seen, thank you.

Am still glad that I went with the curt, I will be getting the same for the next f-350,450 or 550 that I get

by:

great fit on 2011 single wheel cab & chaasis F350. Super heavy duty and well made with a thick powder coat finish. Much more robust than other hitches I have used or seen. I have bought two other "Curt" hitches since this one and have been just as impressed. 5+ stars

by:

My 2019 f450 chassis cab had an end of frame fuel tank that had to be lowered to gain access to tighten the forward hitch bolts. Two of six mounting holes had to be drilled. Marking the hole location was easy as the other four boltz held the hitch in position for marking.

A floor jack is useful in raising and lowering the jack and tank.

Strongly suggest starting project with as little fuel in tank as possible.

Im very happy with the hitch and how well it fits. It is very beefy and i dont expect any issues from it in service.

by:

Excellent hitch. Fit was perfect.

2001 Ford F-550 Cab and Chassis

Just installed this the other day on a 2001 Ford F-550 cab and chassis. There were factory holes already for the two front bolts so I only had to drill the two in the back. Make sure you have a nice, new drill bit as drilling up from the bottom on the frame can be a bit of a task and a sharp bit will lessen that burden.

The size of this receiver is impressive, looks very sturdy and MADE IN THE USA!

Put this on my Sterling AcTerra
Mounting
went well. Air bag made me mount it a little farther back but it ain’t going anywhere. Also didn’t have to move my taillights then.

Ram 3500

So much stronger than the original hitch on a Mega cab 3500 DRW. You could see the original hitch bend with a heavy load attached. This new one is very strong and easy to install. Very happy with the upgrade. Worried it would sit too low to the ground but has not been an issue

by:

2006 FordF-350, 450, and 550 Cab and Chassis

It was good it bolted in just fine. the biggest thing was the stickers that towing capacity information is No good. Brand new I could just peel it off.
I would still buy again but a tag that would last for years would be better.

Ford

So this hitch you must drill new holes to mount, which I was aware of. Instructions describe that the 2 larger holes on the back must line up with 2 factory installed rivits, they did NOT line up with the rivits. After a phone call to Curt they knew of the issue. There is a certain combo Ford built of these trucks that the rivits were not in the pattern this hitch is made for. I had to drop the fuel tank, cut off 2 of the factory rivits and them clamp the receiver on and drill the new holes. Curt is aware of this issue, but the trucks built were this issue were a low production runs with a different fuel tank size. Receiver is great and seems well built, but kinda a pain to install

by:

Looks good, excellent fit, very happy with this product. Best thing about it? etrailer customer service. Olivia did a terrific job. Found me the right product, took care of all the little details, and shipped the hitch out fast. Lots of companies have forgotten how important good customer service is, apparently etrailer remembers. Thanks Olivia!

by:
2008FordF-350, 450, and 550 Cab and Chassis

Hitch was easy to install and very beefy. I bought it to replace the stock hitch on a truck that frequently launches boats in salt water, so the stock hitch had rusted severely. This one seems to have a better finish, and is not exhibiting any rust after a year of use.

by:

It’s a good product but I knew that when I bought it. What made me write the review is the customer service with etrailer I can get a hitch or truck accessories anywhere I choose to shop here time and time again for quality of service not the hitch. This time around I had a bit of a problem and every person I spoke with was helpful and knowledgeable and they got it taken care of almost instantly. I think I spoke with 4 representatives total with this company 2 three email and 2 over the phone. Emails are professional polite and most importantly informative. Phone calls are just the same I can clearly understand everyone I spoke to. I don’t usually go out of my way to write reviews but they always impress me.

by:

We've purchased two of these to replace worn out receivers in our fleet.

by:

Very happy with overall product this is our 4th curt hitch

by:

Trailer hitch was shipped and arrived quicker than I expected. The package was a little beat up, but the hitch was perfectly intact with all components as ordered. It appears to be a perfect fit and should be easy to install. It will replace my old lighter duty hitch so I can pull heavier trailers.

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2002 Ford F-350 with Knapheide Utility Body
Usually they put utility bodies like the one on your 2002 Ford F-350 on the cab and chassis versions of the truck (rather than the standard models that would come with a regular bed). You would need to look at the hitches for the cab and chassis models linked to the right. These hitches fit a frame width of 34 inches. This is measured from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other frame rail. If your measurement is 34 inches then you would look at the cab and chassis hitches...

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # C15810 is a confirmed fit for a 2006 F-350 Super Duty. The fuel tank location you gave is normally for a Cab and Chassis model according to my contact at Curt, so you will need the # C15845 instead if your vehicle frame is 34 inches wide outside to outside.

  • High Capacity Trailer Hitch for a 1995 Ford F-150 XLT with Regular Step Bumper
The 2 Curt hitches you referenced are not a fit for a 1995 Ford F-150. Hitch # C15845 is for Super/Heavy duty cab and chassis models, not regular pickups, and # C15810 is for F-250 and F-350 models. For your F-150 with the regular step bumper you can use Curt hitch # C15300 or # 14001. I have linked some videos showing how these hitches install.

  • Amount of Drop Provided By Curt Class V Hitch, part # C15845
According to my Curt representative, the drop of the # C15845 hitch is right at 6 inches between the top of the receiver tube and the bottom of the truck frame. We do indeed have a reducer sleeve available, part # C45405. For more drop, a weld-on hitch like # 41990-16 might be your best bet. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver tube, but offers an impressive 16,000 lb towing/1600 lb tongue weight capacity. The distance from the top of the mounting bracket to the top of the receiver tube would...

  • Hitch Availability for a 2001 Ford E450 Shuttle Bus
I have a Class V hitch that would fit your 2001 E450 Chassis, part # 41945. However, due to the large overhang of your vehicle because of the shuttle bus portion of the vehicle it is kind of hard for me to say for certain. The best recommendation I can make would be for you to check out the install video and instructions and compare them to the rear frame of your vehicle to see if they would be compatible.

  • Would the Curt Hitch part # C15845 Fit a 2000 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis and Clear Fuel Tank
Since your truck's frame is 34 inches from outside to outside it was definitely a cab and chassis truck at the beginning of it's life which is what the Curt hitch part # C15845 was designed to fit. From the top of the receiver crosstube of this hitch to where it would mount on the bottom of the truck frame this hitch measures 6 inches. See attached picture. With that info you should be able to determine if the hitch would clear the fuel tank.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 2001 Ford F-250 Stake Pocket Truck
If there is no trailer wiring at all at the rear of your 2001 Ford F-350 with a stake bed you are going to have to hardwire in a 4-way and then a 7-way adapter after. If there is a 4-way connector currently or you find the square connector that the part # 20031 attaches to you could go that route as well. For a hardwire 4-way you would need the part # 18252. Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way. If...

  • Will I Be Able To Keep My Spare With The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2000 Ford F-350 Super Duty?
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15810 that is custom fit for your 2000 Ford F-350 Super Duty will allow for a spare tire with 19" wheel to still fit under the truck in the factory location. If you have a 20" or larger wheel used with your spare it will not fit with this receiver. The Curt Receiver # C15845 is for a cab and chassis F-350 and will not fit your frame correctly.

If you have a cab and chassis truck with a 34 inch wide trailer frame (measured from outside to outside) then the # C15845 would line up enough to allow you to drill holes and install it. The top of the hitch opening will measure 6 inches from mounting surface of your vehicle. If your vehicle frame isn't 34 inches a better solution would be the multi-fit hitch part # 41990 that has a 16k capacity and either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or # 4916 for 16 inch drop.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2012 Ford E-350 with Service Body
Since your 2012 Ford E-350 has a service body your best option for a hitch is with a weld-on unit like the Buyers Products Class 5 # 3371801050L.
