Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

There are hitches that we ship wrapped in plastic and they typically arrived in good condition. I am sorry that yours did not and I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

i'd like to say i've enjoyed using this hitch for the past year, but the vehicle i put it on had to retire after I had only used the hitch a few times. the factory hitch rusted from the inside out and looked fine, it was only after i got home from towing a trailer with a Jeep on it that i noticed the factory hitch partially folded under the vehicle. This Draw-Tite hitch is made better than the factory one. the only complaint I could come up with is that it is hard to install by yourself. But, a jack and some wood blocks is good help.

by:

I am disappointed with the hitch that I received, it has a slight warp in it so it does not fit easily. I am having a hard time finding someone to install it since they would need to bend/force it to get it to fit. From everything I had read it should have been an easy install but it has not been. Please let me know what can be done to fix this.

It was a great addition to my 2006 Dodge Durango. After I had it installed, it feels like it came with the truck. Great product.

Very good product so far. Followed the installation deal and most everything went according to plan. Didn't slide on as easily as shown but and small crow bar and a friend made everything work.

  • Determining Towing Capacity for 2005 Dodge Durango
I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2005 Dodge Durango. It states that all 2005 Dodge Durango trucks are intended to tow trailers of up to 2,000 pounds without any added equipment or alterations to the standard model. It goes on to say that your vehicle may be factory equipped for safe towing of trailers over 2,000 pounds if it has the factory tow package. This capacity can get up close to 6,000 pounds, depending on your exact model and what the truck is equipped with. The...

  • Recommended Replacement Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2006 Dodge Durango
We do have trailer hitches available for your 2006 Dodge Durango. Since I'm not entirely sure what is rusted or damaged on the rear of your vehicle I will give you two options. The first is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75162. This hitch attaches to the vehicle crossmember for installation. However, if the crossmember is the part that you say is rotted/perforated away, you would not want to use this hitch. Instead, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer...

  • Does Curt Hitch # 13297 Extend Out Past The Bumper on a 2006 Dodge Durango
We have six different hitches compatible with your 2006 Dodge Durango, including the Curt # 13297 that you referenced. All of the hitches available for your vehicle do extend out a bit past the bumper/fascia. The diagram shows the Draw-Tite placement in relation to your bumper/fascia, however, all of the hitches will be extremely similar in placement. The picture is of the Draw-Tite # 75162 which does give you a length - this picture is taken on the back of a 2009 Chrysler Aspen, so your...

  • Solution for Connecting 7-Way Trailer Connector to Aftermarket Trailer Hitch on 2005 Dodge Durango
The aftermarket Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75292 does not come with a built-in bracket to install the factory 7-way trailer connector. To attach this connector to the aftermarket hitch, I recommend using the Curt No-Drill Bracket, Long # C57202 and the Mounting Bracket and Installation Hardware # 18138. These brackets will allow you to install the 7-Way connector on the new trailer hitch without needed to drill into the vehicle's fascia to install a mounting bracket....

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Ball Mount for 2004 Dodge Durango
Starting with the trailer hitch (if you do not already have one), I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75292. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your 2004 Dodge Durango and will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame for a no-drill installation. This will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening and the hitch features a 6,000 pound towing capacity and 600 pound tongue weight capacity. When used with a weight distribution system, the towing capacity increases...

  • Recommendation for Wiring Harness and 7 Pole Adapter for Towing a Trailer with My 2004 Dodge Durango
I can help you get your 2004 Dodge Durango ready to haul your trailers. Yes, the Curt # C57674 4 pole to 7 pole adapter mated to the Tow Ready # 118390 kit would be a good idea to convert your 4 pole harness to a 7 pole opening while still having use of the original 4 pole. What is neat about this adapter is the LED indicator lights on the side will display proper connections. I have linked a installation video of the custom fit wiring harnesses installed on your vehicle and a video...

Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, item # 75292 Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch , item # 75162 Curt Class III Round Tube Trailer Hitch Receiver, item # 13297 Of the 3 trailer hitches offered I would select the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, item # 75292, because it has the highest towing capacities and is easy to install(see video) on the 2005 Durango. • Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with Brakes Using a 2006 Dodge Durango
I was not able to locate an exact towing capacity for your 2006 Dodge Durango online but I do have a way for you to determine this. What you are going to want to do is open the driver door and look for a white info tag which will display both the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) and the gross combined weight rating (GCWR). If you take the GVWR and subtract that from the GCWR that will then give you your maximum towing capacity. Assuming the gross trailer weight (GTW) is within the maximum...
