Perfect fit for my 2022 Chevrolet Colorado. No adjustments needed. I installed this hitch receiver all by myself taking my time. It took about two hours as I don’t have a lift and had to go from side to side under the truck. I also purchased the Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-Way Blade and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Chevrolet/GMC which took me the longest having to strip and connect all the wires. This was a simple project for a diyer (me).

After a year of use it is still working perfectly and I use it all the time.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado

Long story-short… it fits but arrives damaged and has some rust spots for the safety chain holes. Installed in ~3 hours doing myself - you NEED a breaker bar and torque wrench with 21mm socket (check out [hardware store]). Like other reviews mention/warn on its shipping and handling - the tow bar was severely bent and required me to take a large piece of scrap wood and hammer it straight so it would fit. Also - the trailer plug was shipped inside the box with the tow bar - and the packaging was so bad the plug was rattling around, screws were loose inside and the bracket was missing entirely (luckily I didn’t need the bracket). I was going to return the plug but etrailer was going to charge $xx for shipping… won’t be a customer from them anymore. If you can look past likely needing to rework the bar with a mallet this product will work for you.

It is common for hitches to bend or flex and to receive some scratches during shipment, since the mounting brackets are made from a mild steel that allows the hitch to flex with the vehicle after installation. If the entire hitch was made of rigid steel, there would be a greater chance of the hitch being damaged and experiencing stress cracks. Such cracks could cause the hitch to malfunction. This flexing often times will cause the holes not to align. Because of this we do have a help article I have the link attached below that will walk you through the process of straightening the hitch. As for the rust spots, we recommend using a rust-oleum type of paint to prevent any future corrosion. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to better assist you.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado

The hitch is installed and looks great. Only one negative, I had to enlarge the slots on the spare tire support bracket. Apparently I should have moved the entire hitch rearward a bit but I had already adjusted the bumper and torqued everything down and I didn't want to re-do it.

Excellent customer service, they guided me all the way in order to get the hitch I was looking for. The installation was super easy also. I recommend etrailer to all my family and friends. Thanks again.

I didn't have any trouble with the installation. The hitch is perfect, it bolted right to my truck with no issues. I took this picture after I drove it, and the hitch is all dirty.

The receiver still looks good on my truck.

2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Love Etrailer, beautiful hitch. Fits my truck just like the factory one would, looks good, and has a healthy weight rating. No drilling or welding was nice, it fits in factory holes with factory hardware. The detail of the web site is incredible. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that I felt it could have been packaged a little better. When it arrived, the hitch had ripped through the box and the mounting ears were bent which made it much more tedious to mount than it should have been. But I got it on there and it still ended up looking and working great. I would buy from them again.

I wanted this hitch to put my bicycle rack on my Colorado. Maybe pit my dirt bike carrier on it later. No big towing. Beyond having to build a simple jig to keep the hitch from rolling over during installation, the unit installed well, despite some warnings in earlier posts of width problems. My unit slipped right between the bumper plates and frame rails as it should. Immediately put to work. Thumbs up to etrailer for quick shipping and a good product! Thanks!

by:
2019 Chevrolet Colorado

I have a 2019 Chevy Colorado this is what it looks like after getting rear-ended at around 30 MPH is my guess. The hitch preformed very well in my opinion though damage to the truck was extensive "Needs a new frame". I definitely will purchase another one this is pretty much the best aftermarket hitch available I think.

Absolutely love my new curt trailer hitch! The response time was great! Package and trailer hitch was packed great! Installation instructions were very easy to follow. My only criticism would be the pictures were hard to see. Thanks for a great product!

by:

Super easy to install. High quality hitch overall. Added a B&W adjustable ball hitch and I couldn’t be happier. 10/10 would buy again

by:

My Trailer hitch did not fit on my truck! The extra piece of metal on the passenger side prevented me from moving it in the last bolt position. I took the whole original bumper frame off only to have it not fit. So very frustrating. Shoddy work there. I have a chevy CO 2020. I bolted it on anyways, I hope the bolts hold. now I can't stand on the passenger side bumper to get into the truck bed because its unsupported. It was really hard to put on. Dont listen to them.

It sounds like it is possible that the hitch side bracket is flexed. How far off is the bolt hole from the hole in the frame? Have you tried moving the bracket back into position? We do have an FAQ that could help.

Chevrolet Colorado

Ordered this to put on my Colorado. Came by UPS and the box was pretty beat up and the only protected part was the actual 2" reviever.

When I went to install it seems it was just a 1/4" shy of fitting around the frame. Took it off to measure the distance and one of the flanges was leaned in just enough I didn't notice... I used a rubber mallet to beat it up into place around the frame. My impact didn't reach the bolts on the side so i had to do it by hand and because the product was cockeyed just enough it really made it hell to tighten down.

Looks outstanding and works great on a test pull, I'm not sure if the welder messed this one up or ups during delivery but make sure to use a measure tape to actually see if it fits before you start and it's very simple installation.

Didn't think to take pictures before and after...

Perfect fit and arrived fast! The second person was beneficial to raising the hitch level, and it definitely took longer with hand tools but was manageable. Thoroughly pleased.

by:

The entire shipment arrived quickly, ordered Sunday and it was there Wednesday. Hitch is heavy duty, welds look great I can’t wait to get a trailer on it.

This product was listed as OEM part for a 2016 Chevy Colorado and fit like a glove. Excellent quality and great directions. Thanks E-Trailer!

Package arrived damaged and the product had some scratches and paint chips in the paint. Not a big deal but packaging could be better. Perfect fit on the vehicle but a second set of hands was very helpful. The video was great to watch and was very helpful. Would have gave a 5 star rating if packaging was better.

I'm sorry to see that your hitch has received some scratches on it due to shipping. This does tend to happen and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below for your reference. I have also sent this information over to our Customer Service Department for them to get into contact with you.

Super fast shipping, easy to install, no drilling or hammering to fit. Easy, easy installation even for the not so mechanically inclined.

by:
2019 Chevrolet Colorado

The hitch arrived very quickly, there was some slight damage but it was fixed quickly and easily. I installed the hitch this morning, everything went very smoothly. Installation took me longer than an hour but I'm kind of old and a little slow plus I was working on my back with only hand tools. I really like all the videos that are available, I found ones for my exact year and model truck. I also purchased the wiring kit, but I will install it later. I am very pleased with etrailer and their products.

I like the hitch and I am glad that I installed it, but with the way things were last year, I did not get to use it. Hoping this year will be better.

by:

Receiver was a bolt in as was stated by etrailer. There is a bracket missing on the receiver that the spare tire support bolts to. I will have to configure something to hold the bracket. Other than the bracket it took 30 minutes on a lift with impact tools. Hand tools will take probably another hour.

8/30/2017

I called Curt about your concern with the spare tire bracket. The bracket is not necessary in the support of the spare tire since the cable tightens when the spare tire is raised back into position. You should not have any issues with support of the spare tire without this bracket. It also does not act as a heat shield so there is no problem there.

by:

The top pieces the slide between bummer and frame were bent. Had to hit then with a 2 pound hammer so they fit.

by:

This product works great on my 2016 Chevy Colorado. I would highly recommend removing the bumper first and having a second person assist when installing the receiver. The mounting brackets had to be widened minimally with a mallet. Overall, relatively easy to install. etrailer staff is very friendly and helpful.

After a year of use, I am VERY happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

Chris

It is correct that no 5th wheel hitch makers offer 5th wheel installation kits for a GMC Canyon and the same is true for the Chevy Colorado, and for the same reason, which is bed size and bed rail height. The best pickup for a 5th wheel is always going to be a long bed, and usually at least a 3/4-ton. Both the Canyon and Colorado...
