easy to order. came quickly. fit my '21 chrysler pacifica hybrid no problem. had it installed at my local [shop] for just $xx! using it just for a bike rack!

This is the 2nd Curt hitch purchased from etrailer. I am satisfied with the pricing and quick delivery. The installation of this hitch was more difficult and time consuming, even with the help of my son & his wife, both mechanical engineers. The instructions did not exactly match up with the underbody panels on my Chrysler Pacifica Pinnacle. Fortunately I did not have to do any additional drilling but did have to re-cut a portion of the panel several times to make the hitch line up correctly. Total time spent was about 3 hours. Conversely, I installed a hitch by myself on a Kia Sorrento without a problem. Were it not for confusing installation instructions, I would give the hitch 5 stars. The hitch is installed and looks great. It will be used primarily to carry a bike rack.

No drilling is required for installation but access holes may need to be enlarged. Underbody panels or fascia must be temporarily removed, then trimming may be needed to reattach said panel or fascia. Exhaust must be temporarily lowered for installation. For your hybrid model, you may even have to temporarily remove the emissions canister during install.

I needed to elongate a clearance hole for a small non mounting bolt on the 2020 Pacifica. Took awhile using a Dremel tool. Other then that the installation went well.

2012 Chrysler Pacifica

The hitch is well built and mounts in solid way to the frame. I mounted this to a Chrysler Pacifica along with a wiring harness from etrailer. This was my second time purchasing and self-installing a product from etrailer (the previous was for a Honda Fit) and I have to say it was a lot easier the last time. This installation took my father-in-law and I about 12 hours to complete, and we are both handy with a nice set of tools. It was one of the more complicated DIY jobs I have undertaken, especially considering that the instructions say it should take an hour and a half.
My recommendation is to buy this hitch, but have a pro install it, and make sure you get a flat price for the installation, not an hourly rate, because it will probably take them longer than anticipated as well.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Purchased receiver hitch for my ‘17 Chrysler Pacifica. Directions were very good except for the scale on a picture showing where to cut the heat shield. I viewed the Utube how to and cut it to match the picture ignoring the scale.
Was required to remove an emissions canister and the one M6 bolt that came with the hitch was a bit dodgy of a way to remount the canister. I obtained 2 longer bolts, washers and spacers to remount. Other then those little issues the install went perfectly.
I really liked the hardware kit including spring wire to fish the hitch mounting bolts thru the frame. Other hitches I’ve purchased didn’t include them.

So I ordered the Curt hitch because it needed less cutting of the underbody panel. The installation was a lot harder than the video makes you believe. I assumed that when they skip over certain steps they do it for clarity and brevity. Turned out they didn't want to cover the hard parts. Torquing two out of three passenger side nuts is impossible- the muffler blocks access and a torque wrench can't be properly positioned. The middle nut is hard to tighten at all- nothing fits there. That part could be made easier by removing one more muffler hanger, but that hanger is in the middle of the van, around the second row and is hard to access without a lift. The worst part of the process was reattaching the rear muffler hanger. The installed hitch blocks movement of the muffler, so the hanger needs to be stretched a lot, and the working space there is limited. I probably spent an hour trying to get it on. Needless to say, this step is not on the video.
I knew that I'd need to trim the rear mounting point of the evap canister. What came as a surprise that the front mount also didn't fit, it was right over one of hitch bolts. It had to be trimmed even more. Maybe a model year specific difference?
The hitch itself is made of thick steel and heavy. It is what people called "overengineered", but should be called "underengineered" because they just slapped it together to be as strong as possible without the need. It is thicker than any body or suspension part in the van. I ordered a 1.25" light duty hitch, but that thing looks like it could tow a train. It is visible not only from behind, but form sides and compromises the departure angle. The hitch opening is not flush with the bumper, it sits deeper. Just enough deeper for my bike rack to be to close to the body of the van. I'm taking some blame for not fully researching it, but considering what I see on other vehicles, the hitch should be flush with the bumper.
I think I would better off with Draw-Tite, which requires more trimming, but comes with a proper evap canister relocation kit and longer hitch.

Hitch fits great and looks nice. I hardly notice it. I use it for a bike rack and it's done a great job so far.

  • Which Hitch will Sit Furthest Out from the Bumper on a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica?
Though I can provide the distance from the center of the pin hole to the closest edge of the bumper on the hitches we have installed, I cannot on the one we have not. This is the Curt Class II # C12180, unfortunately. That being said, the measurements for the rest of the hitches that fit a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica are 5 inches for the etrailer.com Class III # e98903 and 6 inches for the Curt Class III # C65CR.

  • Hitch Bike Rack vs. Trunk Bike Rack for 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
Our customers often express concern about bolting a hitch on their vehicles because of comments from the auto dealership. However, I reviewed the online edition of the owner's manual for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and the word hitch appears nine times but NEVER in reference to the vehicle warranty being affected by bolting one on the car. You can check your printed manual in case it differs. Auto dealerships will sometimes imply that bolting on an aftermarket hitch will affect...

  • Should Trailer Hitch for Bike Rack be Installed on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited
While I can't really override what your dealer said in regards to installing a trailer hitch on your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, I can say that you are protected by the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.  I do recommend installing the Curt 2" Trailer Hitch #...

  • Will a Hitch for 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Non-Hybrid Also Fit AWD Models of the Pacifica
Yes. Hitches for a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica that is not a hybrid will fit the AWD models and RWD or FWD models all the same. I recommend using the etrailer # e98903 instead of the Curt # C12180 you were looking at since it is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and will give a much better setup for carrying hitch mounted accessories or towing. Obviously if you've already got a 1-1/4" bike rack you can still use the # C12180, but it's generally worth going up to a 2" receiver when it's available...

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2020 Chrysler Voyager
The best trailer hitch receiver for your 2020 Chrysler Voyager is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13383 because it is a bolt-on installation that will not require drilling into your vehicle's frame to install, is assembled in the USA and has a 2" receiver. This is important because the larger receiver opens up many more opportunities for higher-quality accessories than the smaller 1-1/4" receiver of the other hitch that fits, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12180. The Curt hitch...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica LX
We have just what you need to add a 4-Way trailer connector to your 2017 Chrysler Pacifica LX. You can use wiring harness # 118723. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you. More and more vehicles can be fitted with a T-connector style harness like this which takes the guesswork out of hardwiring in a harness though there are still numerous vehicles that require a hardwire type of installation. But that is not required for your Pacifica so installation...

  • Can I Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid for a Cargo Carrier
I took a look in the owner's manual for your 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and saw where it said that towing a trailer is not permitted. However, it does not say that you cannot install a trailer hitch for a cargo carrier so you should not worry about voiding your warranty. You are also protected under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which simply states that the manufacturer cannot void your warranty just because you installed an aftermarket part on your vehicle. The part would have to be...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
The Curt Class II hitch that fits the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is # C12180. But if you want to use this hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier Curt requires the use of stabilization strap # 18050 per their warranty requirements. To avoid having to use the strap I recommend using Draw-Tite hitch # 36798 which does not have the strap requirement. If you plan on doing some towing the recommended ball mount is # 36071. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball...

  • Curt Hitch that Fits 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
The Curt hitch part # C12180 that you referenced does fit your 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and does not require any additional components to install. With that said since you have a 2 inch hitch bike rack the part # C13383 would be a better option as it is a 2 inch hitch and the hitch you referenced is a 1-1/4 inch. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 2018 Chrysler Pacifica
As long as you have a hitch installed on your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica like the etrailer part # e98903 which is a 2 inch hitch or the part # C12180 which is a 1-1/4 inch, the Hollywood Racks TRS 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR3000 will fit and be a great option. This rack is a nearly impossible option to beat. Normally the platform bike racks like this that only touch the bikes at the tires are very expensive and very heavy. • Trailer Hitch that Doesn't Require Stabilizer Strap for Bike Rack on 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
What you can do is use Curt trailer hitch # C13383, which does not require a stabilization strap, with a reducer sleeve, # HT02, to use 1-1/4 inch accessories. The use of this reducer sleeve will not reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch like other adapters will. This set up will allow you to use the hitch for a bike rack on your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid without needed the stabilization strap.
