Installation was easy, the hitch looks nice and is definitely a quality piece. The whole experience was positive and as long as prices stay competitive I'll make my future purchases with etrailer.

Weve been using the hitch every weekend, except for the winter months. No problems, still happy.

It’s unused in a box. I missed the return window and was told I could only get a partial return and pay for my own shipping so I never bothered !

2003 Mazda Miata

kind of a tight spot to put holes into frame on my '03 miata, but it was a pretty easy install. didn't need to remove exhaust. seems to work well with my yakima bike rack.

by:

Nice hitch install is challenging due to needing to drill fo1//2” holes paper templates with marks for the enter of those holes would be much easier and more accurate than the current method of holding the hitch up with my leg while trying to cnterpunching the holes I gave up and made my own templates.

by:

Installation a little trickySolid product. Fair assessment of installation difficulty. A quick internet search will find people that had problems drilling the top two holes for the hitch. A small right angle adapter or a flexible drill bit extension will get the holes drilled.

Whenever I had questions about anticipated arrival (the hitch was on back order) the employee I spoke with was very helpful and informative. I couldn’t ask for better service.

Awesome hitch, couple holes are tricky to drill out but it works great on my 99 miata pulling a couple kayaks.

See what our Experts say about this CURT Trailer Hitch

  • Is Trimming or Modification Required to Install Curt Trailer Hitch 11749, 1998 to 2005 Mazda Miata
The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch, # 11749, should not require any rear fascia trimming or modification. The instructions do not list any steps for trimming, modification, and there are no notes regarding the receiver touching the rear fascia. I have included a link to the installation details for reference. I f you needed to trim the fascia, you can use a sharp utility knife (like a box cutter), score the area that needs to be trimmed, and in many cases, wiggling the piece back and forth...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2001 Mazda Miata
Both of the Curt trailer hitches, # C11755V, and # C11749 will fit your 2001 Mazda Miata. I actually recommend # C11755V because it comes with a ball mount and will be more hidden when not in use. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring you can use # 119178KIT. Curt trailer hitch # C11028 will not fit a 2001 Miata.

  • Can Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack Be Used on a 2003 Mazda Miata
The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C11749 and the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR is a perfect combination for your 2003 Mazda Miata! We don't have the hitch mount bike racks fitguided because these are essentially universal fits - the only time a hitch rack won't fit is when it comes to bumper clearance but most of the time this isn't a factor, and since the Destination has 9-1/4" of clearance when folded up I don't see this being an issue at all for you.

  • Can 2001 Mazda Miata Be Safely Jacker Up at the Back Using Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver
You only want to jack your 2011 Mazda Miata up by the frame - I don't recommend jacking it up by the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11749. As long as your aftermarket exhaust isn't in the center of the bumper or sit higher than the OEM exhaust you should be good to go!

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2003 Mazda Miata Convertible
We do! For your application you first need to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11749 on your 2003 Mazda Miata Convertible. Once installed this allows us to use a hitch mounted bike rack. If you don't already have a bike rack then I recommend the following for different styles: - Hanging Style - Kuat Beta # B202-114 - Platform Style - Hollywood Racks Destination # HLY94FR Both racks are lightweight for their style and they are rated for use with a Class I hitch receiver like...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2000 Mazda Miata and a Bike Rack
The trailer hitch in question that installs at an angle on your 2000 Mazda Miata is # C11755V. It is not meant to install in any other way other than what is stated in the instructions. But there is a hitch with the receiver that is horizontal and it is # C11749. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum...
