I needed a tow hitch and bike rack to haul my 60 lb. ebike on the back of my Kia Spectra. This Curt 1 1/4" tow hitch does the job. I had a local garage install the unit since I'm not mechanically inclined. I also purchase a Saris bike rack that is designed to hold 2 ebikes, 60 lbs each. I noticed the bike and rack will wobble or torque from side to side a little bit when I make a sharp turn or drive over pot holes. To help remedy my fears of anything breaking i purchased 2, 61 inch stabilizing straps, one for each end of the bike rack. There is still just a little bit of sway (which I later figured is just inherent in any tow hitch/bike rack) but I know it is limited and no more worries. All told, I'm very happy and satisfied with these products.

Im very pleased with this tow hitch. No problems at all. Glad I bought it. Happy to recommend it to any Kia Spectra owner.

The trailer hitch was installable as directed. It took me approx 1 hr (also expected duration noted in the manual for novice like me).
The longest duration in the process took in removing the rubber guards to lower the exhaust tailpipe.
I did not use a power tool but used a couple of wrenches from set (the original bolts were smaller than the ones in the package for installation). It took longer that way too. I also think it would be quicker if it be newer vehicle without the ton of undercarriage debris to clean first ??
Overall, looks good now, hope it works for the bike rack

Hitch has not provided any problems since I installed it last year. Self installation was fairly straight forward with no issues. I have only carried a small cargo rack and a bike rack using the hitch so far. Needed it for carrying extra stuff while the car it's installed on is being towed by my motor home. I would recommend a Curt hitch to anyone that needs a quality product at a reasonable price.

Best purchase I ever made it saved my car from a rear end crash I put a hitch on it and as weird as it sounds having a hitch on a small 4 cylinder economy car it save my whole rear end, and after the impact it still is straight as the day I got it I carry my 2 mountain bikes every weekend and I love it. And I installed it my self it was super easy to do and trust me if I can install it so can you.

Toyota Prius

Yes, the 11679 hitch arrived today. And yes, I'm happy to report that it's the correct hitch for my car. YAY! Here's why I say that. I have to admit that I originally ordered this hitch from from another online source since it included the ball mount with the hitch as a set (Curt p/n 116793) for $114. BUT, I received the wrong hitch from them TWICE. The first was for a Ford Fusion, and the second was for a Toyota Prius..... too bad my car is a Kia Spectra. And then the third attempt was going to take 1-3 months to arrive, but I wasn't willing to wait that long. I had them refund my money and then I went to where I actually looked for my hitch first - etrailer.com.
And thanks again for the free and extremely fast shipping.

  • How Can I Transport My Mobility Scooter on My 2009 Kia Spectra?
From the information I have on your mother's 2009 Kia Spectra, her vehicle has a maximum tongue weight rating of 200 pounds. With that maximum vehicle rating, even if there was a hitch receiver rated for over 200 pounds, you would still need to abide by that 200-pound maximum capacity of the vehicle. With that being said, unfortunately, the only hitch we carry for her vehicle is the Curt Hitch - 1-1/4" # C11679. In order to make sure that your mother's Spectra has a maximum weight capacity...

  • Tongue Weight Capacity and Stabilization Strap for Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11679
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11679 for a Kia Spectra is rated at 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. You are correct in the description of torque being applied at greater distance, and I don't have any information on where they test that. I believe that additional length from the hitch receiver and torque associated with it is why Curt requires a stabilization strap # 18050 for your hitch when using a bike rack or other non-towing accessory. There is...

  • Will the Swagman Trailhead Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2007 Kia Spectra Sedan
If your 2007 Kia Spectra sedan already has a trailer hitch, measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the distance required to clear the rear of the vehicle. If that distance is less than 11 inches, the Swagman Trailhead, # S63360, will fit. If you need a trailer hitch, use Curt's # C11679.The hitch pin hole is only a few inches back from the rear of the vehicle and the rack should fit without problems. If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes,...

  • Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2009 Kia Spectra
If you are planning on towing with your 2009 Kia Spectra you will want the Curt, part # C11679, as it has been confirmed as a fit. You'll also need a ball mount, # 3593, which includes a pin and clip. This hitch has a 2,000 lb total trailer and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. You will need to stay under this capacity as well as the towing capacity listed in the owner's manual of the vehicle. In the owner's manual will be info on whether or not you can tow with your vehicle. To complete...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2009 Kia Spectra
A fifth wheel trailer is one that can only be towed by a truck as the truck will have a special hitch installed in the bed for towing a larger trailer (see picture). Fifth wheel trailers are almost always camper trailers and I believe you may just be looking for a hitch to tow a smaller, bumper pull trailer with your 2009 Kia Spectra. For a trailer hitch the Curt part # C11679 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and would work great for towing a small camper. For trailer wiring you'd then...
