I learned so much just from buying and installing this product! So far, it is handling my driving well, luckily it clears my driveway, and holds my brand new bike solidly! I'm not worried about the quality, as it is GREAT! The fact that it was specially designed for my exact vehicle relieved a lot of apprehensive feelings about installation - which was a pain for my car, but definitely worth it!! For my car's first hitch, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

2017 Hyundai Elantra

Amazing arrival time after ordering- within 3 days. Video was very helpful for novice installers - my daughter and me. We installed the Curt Class 1 trailer hitch on a 2017 Hyundai Elantra SE in our driveway without any issues. I have purchased 6 trailer hitches and 3 bike racks from etrailer in the past - always a great experience!

by:
2017 Hyundai Elantra

The trailer hitch arrived very quickly during the COVID shut down. There was no damage to the box and the hitch inside was in excellent shape. My garage mechanic installed it for me and he was very pleased with the fit of the hitch under the car and how solid it was. I also ordered a bike rack which arrived the following day. My daughter and I installed it (mostly my daughter). I have used it to transport one bike and two bikes and there is no sway or any sense that I was carrying anything. I am very, very pleased. Thank you. Debra

Nice hitch and easy install. etrailer delivered fast and it was packaged well without damage. All instructions and hardware included . There is also a great video install on the site

2018 Hyundai Elantra

This is an excellent product and was really easy to install would recommend the only thing I didn’t buy was the wiring harness to go with trailer and it looks like they have those to and I will purchase one from them

by:

So far so good, it was a breeze to install. Probably took me about 45 min to complete the install. Holds my bike rack securely! Love the free shipping just took a few days.
Thank you!!

This one had the extra strength of attaching to the pull ring on the car body which i liked. The die grinder as a needed tool concerned me, thought i was going to have to grind the holes to fit but didn't have to. Getting the exhaust system rubber grommet off the hook instructions was a little over simplified 'put a 5/8 wrench between rubber and hook and pry bar between and SIMPLY pull bar toward wrench' and watch wrench slip off. 1/2 wrench did't work but vice grips did. Mounting brackets are a tight fit on the body extensions, just putting them up and looking at it looked like it was 5/8 to short but pressure flexed it and it slipped on, no grinding. Holes did't want to line up and prying in one hole to help line up another one flattened a thread a little and could not get it going. Original bolts are self threaders was able to slide bracket down and use old bolt to reshape threads, made for a good tight fit.

Nice hitch.

The entire process from researching on the website, to ordering, installation help videos, and company follow up was outstanding. I purchased a second hitch for my wife's car with the same results. The entire process, and the product and support is top notch. Thanks.

Both of our hitches one on a Nissan Leaf, the other a Hyundai Elantra are in use and performing excellently. As long as we continue to bike, I would install this hitch from etrailer on any car we purchase.

by:

The hitch arrived promptly, and upon first inspection, it was quality. The installation was fairly straight forward, and even though this was my first time putting a hitch on a car, it was done in a matter of an hour. I have been using the hitch for a bike rack for the past year, about twice a month and love it! The only thing I did not consider is that I lost quite a bit of ground clearance as the hitch is quite low, so it drags on some steeper driveways. If I had to do it again, I would go with the other hitch that required more cutting, but raises up the hitch several inches.

2018 Hyundai Elantra

Fastening this hitch onto the tail end of a 2018 Hyundai Elantra frame created a popping noise every time we turned right or left over uneven ground. It wasn't the main reason for trading the vehicle, but it added to it.

It sounds as if the noise that was heard was the exhaust rattling against the hitch. The exhaust system at the rear of the car is attached to the vehicle using rubber isolators and easily bendable exhaust hangers. Because of this, the actual position of the exhaust system can vary a bit from vehicle to vehicle. When the hitch is installed, its position will not vary from vehicle to vehicle. The large tolerances in the exhaust system is what can allow the rattle to occur. In other words, its not the fault of the hitch or its design. A bit more space between the hitch and the exhaust will need to be created. This is a common occurrence that is easily remedied by slightly bending the exhaust hanger. For future readers, heres a link to a help article that addresses how to easily fix the rattle.

This hitch is great. The directions were clear and everything bolted right on like it was supposed to. We pulled a trailer with this hitch on our Hyundai from CT to South Carolina and back with no issues. I will probably purchase one for our other care too.

by:

Worked with Carmel, she made ordering my hitch and accy's easy and quick.

Speaking of quick she told me that she would place the order and that it should go out within 4 working days. I received my complete order within 3 days. Now that was fast.

If you need a hitch get it from etrailer, one stop shopping!

box was in pretty good shape the hitch was in good shape not damage but had issue with
u bolt wouldn't fit thru slots in hitch for tow hook had to open up slots to accept u bolt other than that it fit good

2017 Hyundai Elantra

Since this has not been installed yet I can't give a answer on the fit but all my measurements are good. This is well built hitch. I would recommend this companies products to a friend.

by:

This hitch assembly went on super easy. No issues, and I was able to use it right away.

by:

Hitch and bike rack was quickly delivered and product is as described. Very easy install on my 2018 Elantra!

by:
2017 Hyundai Elantra

Very easy to install. One tongue was bended (maybe during shipping). Thanks to the great customer service, we could easily fix it by bending it back.

by:

easy installation and fast shipping i got the normal free shipping and the product arrived in 2 days.

by:

Does the job. A small amount of rust started forming pretty much immediately, which was concerning. It’s just something that needs minor maintenance periodically. It’ll be fine, won’t progress anywhere near the point of failure for the decade I drive that car. So I’m not too worried.

by:
Hyundai Elantra

My car (2017 elantra) was a breeze to install. I'm not fibbing when I say it was less than 1/2 hr. from time a grabbed the 1st wrench. Ezi-Pezi.

by:

Install was super easy and everything is still in great shape after a year of use. Totally worth it. No regrets.

by:

Website is great very informative let me know exactly which one fits my car totally enjoyed the video showing it the product came exactly as it said hit the car perfectly no problems very very satisfied would definitely recommend friends and neighbors

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Towing Jet Ski Trailer with a 2017 Hyundai Elantra
I recommend going with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11424 for your 2017 Hyundai Elantra as long as it's a Sedan (excluding the Sport edition). I like the Curt hitches because they tend to have a thicker powder coat which helps to protect them longer. If you have a different model of the Elantra please let me know and I can make a different recommendation from the linked selection. To complete a towing setup you also need wiring and a ball mount setup. I recommend picking up the Curt...
