Today we're going to be taking a look at a panel lock slam latch. A slam latch is ideal for doors, drawers, truck and trailer bodies, construction equipment, farm equipment, and all aircraft applications. Slam latches are very versatile and can be used for a variety of different reasons. The latch is going to offer easy operation as well as nice secure closure. It's going to have the square shaped spring, it helps ensure easy operation and that the spring is going to have the latch function like it's designed to. That spring is a square design, which fits perfectly over the square pin to ensure that the unit functions really nicely.
It's a nice design. It's going to be constructed of a passivated stainless steel construction. Nice, strong and durable, it's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. On this end we're going to have a rubber cover on the handle. It's secured with adhesives, so that's going to prevent the grip from slipping off.
The handle also provides an easy grip design for the unit. Few measurements to go over with you real quick starting with the dimensions of the body. Edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement of an inch and 1/2 going this direction. Measuring this way, it's going to be about an inch and a quarter. Then from the bottom of that body to top of the body is about 5/8 of an inch tall and about one inch tall in overall height, from the mounting surface to the top of the handle. When it comes to the dimensions of the pin, edge to edge it measures about 2 and 7/8 of an inch long.
It's a square design measuring 3/8 of an inch by 3/8 of an inch. The extension, that's how far the pin extends out from the body on this side, it's going to be about 9/16 of an inch. The mount holes on this unit going side to side this direction, those are separated on center by 7/8 of an inch. Going this direction our mount holes separated on center by about 3/4 of an inch. Mounting hardware's not included.

- Availability of 1-1/2" Stainless Steel Slam Latch The Paneloc 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" Slam Latch # F707-104Z that you referenced does come in a stainless steel option but this particular model is a zinc plated steel. For the stainless steel model of this same latch you will need part # F707-204P. This will be completely resistant to any rust or corrosion over time.
