Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring - RO34FR

  • Diode Kit
  • Splices into Vehicle Wiring
  • Universal
  • Roadmaster

Smart diodes allow a motorhome that is towing a car to use that car's rear lights if the car has variable voltage incandescent lights. Unlike regular wiring diodes, smart diodes activate only the intended circuit - brake lights or tail lights.

Features:

  • Smart diodes allow a motorhome to power a towed car's lights
  • Works with variable voltage incandescent tail lights
  • Requires wiring and wiring supplies (sold separately)
  • Quantity: 2 diodes
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Smart diodes allow a motorhome that is towing a car to use the vehicle's rear lights, provided it uses variable voltage tail lights. Variable voltage tail lights use the same wire to power the brake lights and tail lights. They do this by using a 12-volt signal for brakes and a 9-volt signal for tail lights.

If a regular wiring diode is used with variable voltage tail lights, then the bulb will light up as though the vehicle is braking whenever the tail lights are on. That is, you can't tell the difference between the brake lights and running lights. Smart Diodes correctly modulate the voltage to activate only the intended circuit. The result is vehicle lighting that looks and functions as intended.

etrailer is my go to for all trailer / towing equipment, I have and always recommended your company to friends and family with needs in tow / trailer and RV items. You always provide five star service. That said.
I finally got time to install the smart diode set on my F150. I still have the same operation I had before with the 4 standard diode setup. Each light has Two blubs each having Two elements, the taillights illuminate the taller element in both and the turn and brake illuminate the shorter element in both blubs from the truck systems. From the RV systems only the lower blub is illuminated for taillight, turn, and brake. There are only 4 wires total at the connector: ground, turn, brake, and taillight. After the connector 3 go to the upper blub and jumper to the lower blub. One goes directly to the lower blub. Any ideas on how to get both bulbs functioning will be greatly appreciated.

  • Is Using The Hy-Power Roadmaster Diodes Better or Worse Than The Smart Diodes on 2021 Chevy Colorado
First the biggest difference is the cost of the Hy-Power Diodes # RM-794 being more price conscious than the Roadmaster Smart Diodes # RO34FR. The Hy-Power diodes will also allow you to tie into the 2 separate functions on the incandescent bulb where the smart diodes only have one output and regulates power going into the single function of the incandescent bulb. So if this filament inside the bulb were to fail neither light would work where as with the Hy-Power if the brake/turn filament...

  • Parts Needed To Flat Tow a 2023 Ford Bronco Base Model Behind a Forest River FR3 RV Motorhome
First you will need either the Base Plate # RM79RR for the factory plastic bumper or the Base Plate # RM92ZR if you have the Ford Modular front bumper. I recommend using the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676 as the arm bodies have an aluminum construction to help resist corrosion. It also has built in LED lights which make it much easier to connect or disconnect in the dark. You may need a High-Low adapter like the 4" # RM-048-4 to keep the bars within 3" of...

Switching Neutral Tow On 1.Switch your vehicle to accessory mode by pressing the push button ignition switch without pressing any pedals. 2.Press the 2H button on the four-wheel drive mode control. 3.Fully press and hold the brake pedal and shift the transmission to neutral (N). 4.Using the...

  • Smart Diodes and Wire For Flat Towing Vehicle Behind Motorhome
We do indeed offer smart diodes in two models, if the vehicle has incandescent lamps, use # RO34FR or part # RO54FR for vehicles with LED lamps. All the 7 to 6-way umbilicals we offer like # RM-146 use 16 gauge wire, however the # RM-146 meets the rest of your parameters, it's manufactured in the USA and has metal plugs on the ends. Unfortunately we don't offer bonded 4 wire in 14 gauge, although we do offer it in 16 gauge as part # 16-4B-1, which is sold by the foot.
