Video Transcript for Kelty Wireless Camping Tent Review

Ah yes, camping and the great outdoors. I love getting out of the normal 9 to 5 office hours and just getting out and about during my workday; being in nature. Really enjoying the camping experience and getting away from etrailer for a bit. Today we're gonna get away from etrailer for a bit and set up our Kelty 6 Person Wireless Tent. Before we do anything else I wanna check out the inside because when I'm camping I wanna know how much space I'm gonna have in there and how comfortable it's going to be. So right away, it has a super large door.

Really easy to get through. The one thing I can maybe think of is if you have an air mattress and you wanna set it up, you wanna inflate it and then get it through the door, after it's inflated, this is gonna be really easy to do that. And while we're in here, we've got tons of space. I'm six feet tall, and I can comfortably stand in the middle here, without hitting my head. And I can even move around the outside a little bit, pretty easily.

My wife and I have a tent at home that's very similar to this, but it's a fair bit smaller, and I do not have this much headroom. So for me, that's a huge plus. Now comfortably, I'd say you could fit 3 to 4 people with their belongings in here. If you need to fit six people, you can, it's gonna be a tight squeeze, but for like a family of four where you're stumbling up with your kiddos at night, it's gonna be more than enough space. And if you do want this door open and to stay open, you can roll it up and use this portion here to secure it to this loop on the outside.

That'll hold door open, just like we're doing with our rainfly already, so we can enjoy the great outdoors. And one other thing I wanted to point out with its size is how much actual leg room you have to lay down here. Again, I'm six feet tall and I can more than comfortably lay down like this. And this is the short ways. It's a little bit longer on this side.

So, when you're getting everyone lined up here, as long as you got the space for your arms and everything, I think your legs are gonna be just fine. As far as storage for your belongings go, maybe you've got a phone, a battery pack, something like that. You've got four mesh pockets, one in each corner, as well as these larger pockets. There's gonna be two of these in total, up by the doors. So you can fit plenty of things in here, whether it be sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, anything you just don't wanna be rolling over onto at night. It's gonna fit really well in there. So something I saw that I looked for it right away is this little loop at the top here. My tents at home, I've got one of these and I use it for a little camping fan. I can hook it in there and have it blowing down on us at night. Or some lights to give us some extra visibility. That's a huge, huge thing for me to have that. So I can use those accessories. And it's really nice to see that this tent has one too. This pocket can also have a camp light in here and it'll end up diffusing that light a little bit. So it's a great way to help light up your space. In addition to that loop up top that I mentioned earlier. Now, for me, it's just me, my wife and my cat. I don't think my cat's gonna go camping with us. So I'd probably go with the four person tent. But Brad here's got a big family and I just wanted to know is this a good size you feel like for your familyYeah, so it's me, my wife and I have two daughters and they're nine and seven. So they're relatively short, which I think this works out well, because I'm able to stretch out, lay down, still have room for some of our stuff that we wanna keep inside. And I roll around a lot. So do my kids. So I think there's still plenty of room for them to kind of do their thing. No one's fighting or laying on top of each other during the nighttime. So yeah, it definitely has enough space for a family of four. So I wanted to bring in my cameraman, John, here to actually talk about the tent, because he's actually been out camping with it in the wild, rather than just here at etrailer. So he's been able to live with it and experience some of the different conditions that he's been camping in with it. So tell us a little bit about that John. Sure, we actually went camping two different days with this. One day in Kansas. And then one day in Colorado. It was very hot and it was very, very windy. I would say that was some of the most intense wind that I've dealt with, being out in a camping situation. But this tent held up well. We only had one time that it was a little bit tough for us to get everything up and in place. And then once we had the rain guard in place, no problem whatsoever. The rain guard really did help with the wind, in general. And we got enough wind that it kept it cool for most of the night, whenever we we're worried. So like John mentioned, this stays in place really well. And the rain guard helps with that quite a bit. So not only is this going to give you privacy and help repel water away from the tent and away from the mesh, but it's also going to help keep it in place. It's got these ropes on each corner. Comes with all the stakes you need. We've also got stakes on the front and back with these portions here, that kind of drape over the door. And with the stakes on the tent itself, everything stays in really well. Of course I can shake it around pretty well but it's not budging. It's not shifting. It's not lifting up off the ground. Everything's actually really stable. And comparing this to my tent at home, I actually think it does a lot better. So for maximum protection against rain, wind and just giving you overall privacy, these do close on the rain fly here. So we can unroll it like that and zip it up. And I like how it kind of boughs out and away from the tent. So all of that water that does fall on here is going to be run away from the tent. Away from the mesh. Away from the bottom of where you're sleeping. It's all going to be really well protected. And even though it does cover up all that mesh on the tent itself, we do still have these vents here for airflow in the front and back. And the air can get in from the bottom, of course. Now, if you're not concerned about the weather or you've got a campsite where you've got tons of privacy, you can just open this up all the way here. We've got those same catches with the loops on the inside here. So we can get this all secured. Get a nice amount of wind going through the front and back since we do have two doors on this. And here it is with both of those ends of the rainfly opened and both doors opened. You can see I've got tons of room to walk in and out the other side. So during the day if we wanna keep things a little bit more open, we're gonna be able to go in and out, get our belongings if we need to, or just have this as some nice shaded cover for during the day. This is gonna be a great way to do that. You've got tons of room in here and it's super easy to get in and out. This is six person and it's going to be pretty big. For me personally, if I we're going to pick one for my wife and I to use together, I would honestly go with the four person. I feel like that's the perfect size for two people. It can have your belongings and have more than enough room to move around if need be. And if you're single person camping, maybe just go with the two person; it's gonna give plenty of room for you and your stuff. Each option is going to have that footprint with it. So that's the layer we put under our tent for some extra protection. So if you wanna pick that up, you absolutely can. But I think either way you go, you're gonna end up with a really nice functional tent. And overall, it's going to be super simple to set up. I really like the way the fiberglass rods actually stick into the corners, makes the setup process a lot quicker and easier to do solo. It's gonna be a lot easier to do with an extra set of hands but it is definitely possible with one person. Let's check it out. So we're gonna get started setting up our tent here. It's about 12:03, give or take a minute. So we're gonna see how long it takes us to get this thing set up; while also filming the process for you. But starting out we've got our footprint down. Now this does not come with the tent and it's not required, but it's basically gonna be an extra layer of protection between the bottom of your tent and the ground. So we've got that laid out. It's kind of a rectangle. So we've got it long ways this way and let's start unboxing the tent. I'm gonna just roll the tent out flat. So then we can take our gray poles. These are gonna be the longer ones, and we can start to get them assembled into each other. And there's a little pocket with a sleeve. We'll just feed the end of our gray pole into that. We're going to flex that pole up and do the same thing on this other corner with that pocketed sleeve. And I will do the same process on this pole but we can just hang up this middle hook. All we gotta do from here is just go around doing these other clips. Then we'll have this black pole here, feed that little clip in. And then snap these clips on the middle of the pole there, front and back. Now the rain cover's gonna be super simple. Now once you have that first corner clipped in, this is a lot simpler. It drapes right over those poles really well. At this point ready to get the main portion of the tent stake down here. And now we can move on to these blue ropes. And there's a buckle here with a loop in the strap. So I can feed the tent stake through that and we can use our mallet to get that hammered down into the ground. And the last portion is this loop strap on the front and rear of the tent, for you to stake through it just like we did before. Pull it nice and tight and we can get it secured down in the ground. It's gonna help direct water away from the doors as well as just getting our door covered up. And it's about 12:33 right now. We had a break for water and had a conversation with some coworkers. So overall, 30 minutes to get everything done with some breaks, not too bad. So my final thoughts with this are if you're looking for a tent that'll be more than enough room for you and your family. You're looking for storage space. You're looking for places to hang a light or a fan. And you're looking for it to perform really well in a variety of different weather conditions. Both being stable, being protected from the rain and giving you good privacy. I think this is gonna be a great way to go. And that was our look at the Kelty Wireless 6 Person Tent here at etrailer. Thanks for watching..
