Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Bulldog collar lock, two and 5/16 ball coupler with the round tongue mount has a 12,500 pound weight capacity. Now this is a heavy duty coupler. It's ideal for utility, livestock, cargo and construction trailers. You can see it is a round tubular tongue mount design. It is a well done application.
Now, the tongue mount on this, if I give you a few measurements, the overall diameter or outer diameter on this, it's gonna be right at two and a quarter inches. The inner portion diameter, one and three quarter inches. It is a steel tubing, which is very strong and durable. And this is a collar lock design. So it will offer automatic, continuously tight fit for absolute security.
Basically what you would do is pull this pin out. If you unlatch this safety pin and pull that out, it'll let you slide this collar back down and then the spring will pop this open. It has a hinge ball socket here. It makes hook up a snap. You just put it onto your two and 5/16 diameter ball, close it in, and then let the locks, or the collar slide right up and it locks it into place.
And then for extra security, you just drop the pin through there, lock latch it, and you're all ready to go. And what's nice is when you look at it, it'll give you a visual indication of proper closure, which provides additional peace of mind. The pin style fastening is what'll secure the connection. Few specs on this. The overall length from this end to this end, if we measure it, is gonna be right at 13 and a quarter inches.
And again, the weight capacity, which will be stamped right on the top here is 12,500 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Bulldog collar lock, two and 5/16 inch ball coupler with the round tongue mount and a 12,500 pound weight capacity.

Good product, good price.
Found what I was looking for, thanks again .
This is exactly what I wanted. I have use a smaller version of this on another trailer I built in 1980 it still works great. So I knew what I wanted when I began looking for a heavier duty one. I wish I already had it mounted so I could upload a picture of it in use. I say that because I make it removable, I have been using the other one I have on both my trailers but that means I have to make two trips rather than having a buddy pull one of them. But doing it this way makes it hard for someone to steal my trailers. I always have good luck buying from www.etrailer.com

I still feel the same they are great hitches.
Products are as advertised. Metal and castings are good quality. Units handled prep and welding nicely.
Only two minor points of annoyance.
One of the spring retainers arrived broken at the clip end. A spot of delicate mig welding re-assembled it.
The paint on all four units was thick enough to inhibit both the lock pin holes and the ball cup pivot actions. A bit of rat tail file work and some oil rectified both.

Parts went on our Rose Parade float, for towing in case of drive failure. Regularly used to train crews in application. Have not been needed during parade as yet. With luck theyll die in place, of old age. :
I haven't had the chance to get it welded on yet, so I fill focus on the order/shipping. First, I have been a satisfied E-Trailer customer since 2007. They have always had the best price/shipping and delivered on time or ahead of schedule. That is until now. I placed the order for this June 16th and due to the manufacturers back order it was delayed 5 times until the first week of August.
Now to my gripes. 1) It would have been helpful if the webpage showed current stock/shipping estimate BEFORE I ordered.
2) The price changed in the 6 weeks before shipping however, I don't understand why the prices I commited to weren't honored at time of fulfillment. It was NOT my fault it took 6 weeks to ship, why did I get charged the new higher prices? It seems at the very least the original pricing should have been honored in an effort to make up for the long delay.
The hitch looks well made..... have not yet installed on the trailer.
The people of etrailer were very helpful....provided quick and easy service
Worked perfect for a Heston hay baler
Fast and easy. Great product.
Five star service from etrailer, and maybe a two or three-star product from Bulldog. Aside from the rust and the fact that the collar is so stiff that it can't be operated by hand, the fabrication on the steel attachment plate is poor. The holes for the tongue jack are punched out, twice in some cases, resulting in an enlarged hole, but there are no threads for the tongue jack so you'll have to fumble around and use nuts underneath. The vertical angles on the steel are wrong, so it will splay out at the bottom and won't fit tightly to the A-frame and you will need to shim it out. The interior of the casting is full of weld spatter that will chafe the tow ball. I bought the less-expensive Ram sleeve-lock coupler under a Curt label and the fabrication is much better, having none of the problems the BullDog did. etrailer kindly sent me an RMA to return the BullDog.
The best coupler we have used for our construction business. I have been using these for 14 years now without any problems. We replace them every 5 years at about 160,000 miles when we purchase new trailers. I currently need three now but they have been out of stock for several months. Still waiting for new stock to arrive so I can order. I feel safe with this type coupler and my employees also like the security it provides.
Don’t buy this!!! It literally does not work. You can’t open the coupling because it was built incorrectly. There isn’t enough room to slide the coupling back. Of course I didn’t realize this until I had mounted it on my trailer. etrailer customer service is about to get an earful!
The Bulldog coupler is SO MUCH easier to hitch up and disengage than my previous coupler which required several back and forth movements of my tow vehicle to engage/disengage the hitch ball.
Receiver worked perfect with 3” square tube
This is how I received my merchandise I was lucky the part was still
In side the box
Heavy duty, clean - no bulk to deal with and can step on the tongue easily to climb up, etc. Perfect for up to 7K# trailer. When it is latched, it is latched and in the truck and away you go! Great Bulldog product.
