Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this BULLDOG Collar-Lok channel tongue coupler for a two inch diameter hitch ball, has a 7,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this is a heavy duty coupler. It's ideal for utility, livestock, cargo, and construction trailers. We mentioned it is a collar lock design, so it offers automatic, continuously a tight fit for absolute security. It is designed to fit onto a two inch diameter hitch ball, and it is a hitch, the collar lock design is a hinged ball socket that'll make hook up a snap.
And just to show you what we're talking about, I'm gonna demonstrate this. I happen to pull, here's a two inch diameter hitch ball that we're gonna attach it to. But when you go to attach it, first thing you need to do, it has this pin and clip in the latch. You mentioned it has this high profile latch for ease of use. So to release the latch, you'll pull out this pin and clip just like that.
And then what you'll do is pull up on the latch. And when you do that, you'll notice this collar will slide back. And when you do that, it releases the hinge portion here. This hinge ball socket opens that up, and now you're able to drop it right onto a two inch hitch ball. And then when you go to close it, you just push that hinge portion in, and slide your handle back down.
And that collar lock slides up over there, and locks it into place on the ball. So just like that, you're locked in, ready to go. And then make sure you put your pin and clip back through the latch, so it doesn't unlatch. Gives you a nice visual indication of proper closure, provides additional peace of mind. It is constructed of high strength steel.
It's very durable, and it is designed to fit onto a square or rectangular channel tongue mount. The tongue diameter or size should be three inches wide. It is a weld-on application. And then to release it, all you want to do is pull your pin and clip out, raise up on your handle. And when you pull it all the way down, you'll notice that hinge portion pops out, and you can remove it right from the ball. Simple as that. And then when you're not hooked up, just go ahead and push that back in. (metal clanking) Flip your lock or latch all the way down, that collar lock slides up. Take your pin and clip, push it into place, and you're all ready to go. Again, the ball size this fits on is a two inch diameter, capacity is 7,000 pounds. And the last thing I want to give you is the overall length from the back here to the very front. So if we put a ruler on that, you can see it's gonna be right at about 16 and a quarter inches overall length. But that's gonna do it for the review on this BULLDOG Collar-Lok channel tongue coupler for a two inch diameter hitch ball. (tool thudding on table).

LOVE this Bulldog hitch! I welded it to my new custom built motorcycle trailer and I will never go back to the other kind again. So much easier to get a positive connection. I also like the integrated lock hole in the latch. It's definitely worth the money.

Product arrived in a short time and was just what I was after. With this style of coupler you don't have to do any guess work about knowing if the coupler is properly locked on or not, it's a foolproof solution. I am extending the tongue on my atv/utv trailer and wanted the best coupler I could get.

We have put this hitch to the test and it has held up well. Very happy with the service and the fact that they checked back to how the product was holding up. That says alot for customer satisfaction. Will be here when we need more trailer parts for sure.

Very reliable, rugged performance. No problems with its main purpose: Securing the trailer. But there are a few things that could be improved. For one, Bulldog doesn't offer bolt-on installation on any of its couplers. I'd much prefer to use 1/2-inch Grade 8 bolts rather than permanently weld on the coupler. And it's easy to pinch your fingers on the collar sleeve when closing. And due to the sliding collar design, it's darn near impossible to keep the whole thing painted, because the sliding collar wears off the enamel. Still, it's much easier to line up than a regular yoke/latch coupler, and it's much more rugged.

The bulldog hitch coupler is clearly the most bomber hitch that u can put on your trailer toung. Thanks to etrailer, it is also very affordable. I'm replacing all of my old hitch couplers with bulldogs.

Have not welded on "Bulldog Collar-Loc Coupler (7,000 lbs) on my trailer yet. The reason I bought it was, I bought from "Ft. Knox Locks" the "Bulldog Lock (siding collar" lock that didn't work with my setup. Your product is of very high quality and the Ft Knox's product is also the same "heavy duty" and quality.

I use only bull dog hitches. Still using the hitch though my wife may have broken the top piece. (somehow) local place repaired and added parts to put on a lock.

Just what I was looking for. I ordered this couplers for my feed trailer that came with just a pin hitch. Trailer holds 3 ton. This coupler should handle that wait with no trouble. Very satisfying with the product and etrailer.

Arrived promptly. Well packaged and went on without a hitch. Mounted it on with grade 5 bolts instead of welding it on in case I ever need to replace it or want to put it on a different trailer. Just a tip use 4 in x1/2 bolts with a lock nut and it’s a perfect fit.
