Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Honda CR-V, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima JetStream roof rack system. This is going to be consisting of part numbers Y00425, these are the JetStream crossbars. Part number Y00148, these are the SkyLine Towers, and they kind of snap into place with our landing pads. And the landing pads are going to be part number Y00245. This is specifically for the Honda CR-V.It attaches to two pre-attachment points on the actual flush mounted side rails of your CR-V, and these bars are designed to work with a wide variety of accessories. This helps you put anything you don't want inside the vehicle, outside, or just to free up a little bit more space if you need to.
It can work with bike racks, cargo baskets, or cargo boxes, and the general shape of the bars is going to be an aerodynamic shape. That's going to help cut down wind noise and drag while you drive.Moving our end cap here, this also works with T-Track accessories, but unlike the others, you actually just push down the strip at the top here so the T-Track accessory just slides in there that way. A lot of the other styles out there, you'll have to remove the strip, cut it to length, and kind of go through a hassle to get this installed, and this eliminates that for you.At the ends here, we do have these plastic locks that can be taken out and removed, and replaced with the Yakima SKS lock system, so you can secure this to your vehicle and also make inaudible 00:01:28 with your accessories that you're hauling. And, once everything is finished with your trip, these just can pop out of place by opening the ends and we have these plastic pieces that fit on top here, so you don't have to remove the mounts, and they're ready to go for next time. Now that we've shown you how this looks here, let's go ahead and show you how it actually installs. We have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here.
We'll go through the process of installing it onto our vehicle. We have the bar and the towers applied on one side, so our next step is we're going to go to the tower here as well as the fit kit for our actual bar, and install that on the other side.Starting with our plastic piece here that just pushes in place on top of our tower until you hear a light click. Then we'll take our metal piece here, which attaches to this screw on the inside. Then you tighten that down with the included tool. You're going to hear two or three audible clicks once this is done, like so.
Then we can slide this into the bottom of the bar. Then our final step is putting in our end cap.Now we can move on to our actual mounting point here. We'll take the padded portion and these points here will fit into the holes in the bottom. Just kind of match up. Then just push them into place like so.
Then we'll take the screws and the flat washers and install them onto our fixed mounting points onto our flush mount side rails. Find our points, and find the proper configuration, too, that works best for your vehicle. We'll get these finger tightened first. Then we use the tightening tool and finish them off.Now we can take our bar and set it into place as well, making sure that they're open all the way. We'll set them into our cradles. Our landing pads, I should say. And then we'll get the crossbar overhang figured out as well. You're going to want to make sure that that's even on both sides. Have to loosen it up just a little bit. And try not to do that. There we go. All right, that looks good. Our final step is to tighten down the bolt in the center here. This is going to tighten up the tower to our bar. That's done. Close this up, and that'll lock it to the landing pad, and repeat this on the driver's side as well.Next, I'm going to give you a couple quick measurements here that'll help you out in regards to the height that it's going to add to your vehicle. We're going to start in the center of the roof and measure to the bottom and the top of the bar. From the center to the bottom, it's going to be about five inches. From the center to the top, it's going to be about five and seven eighths inches, so that's adding quite a bit to the top of your roof, so keep that in mind when you have your bike racks and your cargo baskets fully loaded when you're pulling it into your garage. And this roof rack system does have 165 pounds of carrying capacity once installed, but you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual and go by its recommendations, and go by the smaller of the two numbers. And there you have it for the Yakima JetStream roof rack system on our 2017 Honda CR-V.

Custom-fit Landing Pads attach to the fixed mounting points in your vehicle's flush, factory side rails. The pads create mounting points for Yakima Skyline or Control towers.I have these installed on a 2022 Honda Pilot. I could not get them to fit on my raised roof rails with the included rubber gaskets. I have mounted them without the gasket but this leaves a gap between the rail and the landing pad. This seems secure but does not have a finished look. I will be trying to see how to get the gaskets to fit.
In the confusing world of roof racks, the etrailor site had a locator tool that made it easy to identify the correct landing pads and towers for my vehicle.
I had cross bars and landing pads on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I bought these to put on my wife’s new Grand Cherokee L. They were extremely easy to install and now I can easily move the roof rails between the two vehicles. They are a great product as is most of Yakima’s products. I highly recommend them.
I love the ease of removing my crossbars at the end of the season with these landing pads. Highly recommend these.
great service
Exactly what we needed to use our old Yakima bars and kayak sharks with our new Ford Explorer. Our old car, a Ford Expedition, used the same round Yakima bars and kayak sharks but had a different roof rack. Instead of paying $800+ to get a whole new kayak rack system... the adapters we got from etrailer helped us used all the old equipment :)
I like the strength of the Yakima brand and it looks great. It does seem a bit more complicated than might be necessary. I know they have to fit to many different cars but the matching of components is confusing and the installation less than intuitive. The end result is great and etrailers is awesome in every way!
Excellent customer service! I felt like I had a personal shopper in the care Sherry S. offered!
I have a Buick Envision and it seemed as if it would be difficult to get the correct rack, but it turned out to be easy. I entered my vehicle info and was directed to the Yakima Skyline with flush rails. It was easy to install and they look great. I will be able to take my canoe out with no problem! Joe
Yakima Landing pads are vehicle specific. Good quality mounts are supplied with good stainless steel fasteners. Required as a base for the towers.
Yakima racks are always a good choice. Etrailer made it easy for me to know all the parts I needed and it was so easy to install!
