Can I Use My CoreBar Crossbars # Y00421 with Raised Rails on a 2017 Honda CR-V?

Question:

I have a 2017 Honda CRV. I recently had raised side rails installed by Honda. I have a Yakima roof rack with barbeds made for a roof without side rails. I was wondering if I could simply purchase the SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Fixed Mounting Points, Flush Rails, and Track Systems - Qty 4 - Y00148 and the crossbars I have from my previous roof rack will be compatible? I have the Y00421. Thanks,

While we do have a crossbar option for you, using the SkyLine Towers # Y53TR along with the Yakima CoreBar crossbars # Y00421 will not work on your raised rails on your 2017 Honda CR-V. This is because the CoreBars # Y00421 along with the # Y00148 and the fit kit # Y00245 only fit vehicles with factory flush rails on the vehicle.

With that being said, we cannot confirm what feet/fit kits can attach to your installed rails on your CR-V. Even if we could, Yakima does not make a compatible crossbar setup with raised factory rails, so you wouldn't be able to utilize your current CoreBars.

Although, there is a great option for you. The safest bet is to SeaSukcer Monkey Bars # 298-SX6000B. The Monkey Bars come with vacuum cups that attach directly to the roof of your CR-V without using feet/fit kits to mount to your raised rails. It comes with an impressive 150-pound maximum weight capacity and is compatible with most clamp-on accessories. The only thing to keep in mind is to make sure you have enough height on the Monkey Bars to clear the raised rails. From the roof to the bottom of the crossbar of the SeaSucker crossbar is about 3 inches. I recommend making sure that this gives you the proper height you need to clear your raised rails.

For theft-deterrence of the Monkey Bars, the best way is to use the etrailer cable lock # e98891 with the SeaSucker Window Lock Anchor # 298-BA0010.

I went ahead and attached some useful demo videos for you to check out.
