Today on our 2015 Subaru Forester, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Yakuma RailGrab Roof Rack System. We've got the 48-inch round bars that we're using; part number on that is Y00408. We've got the Yakuma RailGrab Foot Pack System; part number on that: Y00138. As you can see, we've already got the front bar installed on the Forester. We're going to go over with you how to install the rear bar. Now, installing the foot pack is very simple. It's just going to be a matter of sliding the large hoop around the large round opening here right down on our bar.
With that done, we'll take the black cap, press it right on the end there. That's going to help to hold our foot packs on. We can now place our foot pack up here onto the side rails on the Forester. We'll find a fixed point to use for mounting. The fixed point's important.
This is going to help us to ensure that our feet are in line with each other, and that our bars are running parallel. We've already used a fixed point here on the front, so that we know we have our foot packs in the proper position. Now that I've got that one where I wanted, I'm going to come over here to the driver's side and just do that same thing. I'll have to loosen this one up a little bit. .. It doesn't want to go around the bar just yet, so there's an Allen bolt in there that's loosened up.
There we go. All right, we found our fixed point on each side. We're not going to take a quick look, just to be sure we have our bar centered on the vehicle. I guess this isn't an integral step into making it structurally sound or anything, but it certainly looks better if it's equal on both sides. Now, we're going to be able to open the end cap. We've got a silver set screw here.
The silver set screw's going to hold our bar in position by driving a wedge up into it. Once we have that tight enough, that bar's not going to slip around on us. Now we can tighten up the black Allen bolt located in here as well. Tightening this up draws the rear portion of our clamp in. It's going to get a good solid grip onto our side rail there. . You see Nice and secure on this side. We'll just close our cover. Typically, you'll just have a little black cap over here. Those can be easily removed as we've done here to show you. You've got a tumbler opening in there, so you can put the Yakuma Single Key System 1 in each of the 4 foot packs all the way around and secure the bars to your side rails. The part number on that is Y07204. That is going to be for the 4 pack. They'll give you all that you need to get the bars secured to your vehicle. Now, I'm over here on the passenger side. Again, I'm using that same fixed point that we had. Vice versa to that anyway. I'm on the driver's side now. I've used the same fixed point that I've used on my passenger side, tighten down my set screw and just going through that same process to be sure that we have everything in line. It's a really easy quick system to use, the rail grabs are one of the easier out there. It's really that quick; have our roof rack installed on our vehicle and we're ready to hit the road. Now that we've taken a good look at the Yakuma RailGrab Roof Rack System, using part numbers Y00408 and Y00138 on our 2015 Subaru Forester, that will complete today's test fit. .

Pair with Yakima towers, fit kit, and RoundBar SL Adapter to create a complete roof rack.etrailer is excellent...however, not too pleased with Yakima and these cross bars - second set in four years...they make them out of a steel that rusts quickly...better out of stainless or aluminum. Maybe that is their idea of planned obsolescence. I also learned not to install end caps...that accelerated the corrosive process.
Everything from etrailer is timely and of good quality! The Yakima crossbars are no exception - they are indestructible.
I ordered the Yakima roof rack, with the Hullyrollers for the back crossbar and the Mako saddles for the front crossbar to use with my kayak. It arrived just like they told me and I put them on my car the eveningit arrived. Got to finlly use the roof rack on June 22 to go out kayaking and it worked great. Only thing is I did not know about the air reflector piece for the front crossbar. Now I will be ordering it to help with the wind noise.
Great rack, go on fast, easy to install and work well on my VW TDI wagon. Care has to be given and follow the instructions for the install to what type of rails you have. Works great carrying the VW luggage carrier and plan on using it to carry kayaks as well. Just have not decided what kayak rack type to get yet.
The Yakima roof rack system is an Outstanding product. I purchased the product to replace the OEM roof rack because it was too flimsy to carry the tandem bike mount and my bike. The Yakima roof rack is solid and provides me the peace of mind while hauling my bike on the roof of my car. etrailer provided the product for the best price as always.

Still an outstanding product.
I've attachec a few pictures of the Yakima rack on my Audi Q7. It took a few attempts to find the right combination of attachments, but in the end, the pin attachments work best with the access points on the factory flush-mount rails. Great product!!!!!
roof racks showed up in great condition, and showed up as one package.... I should have ordered the J racks from here but I found them cheaper locally so Thule J racks compliment the whole setup and i am just about ready to hit the water :)
The installation of this rack system went very well, all of the instructions were easy to read and use. I have attached some pictures of our installation. The vehicle is a 1994 Honda Accord EX four door sedan
Roof Rack 2008 Saturn Astra The roof rack arrived one day early...The packaging was excellent and the quality of the product more than met my expectations. The instructions made the insulation very easy. It took less than 45 minutes to install the unit complete.
Have been rocking my Yakima rack from etrailer.com for a year now. I am using rack in conjunction with a Tepui tent. Once I added the air deflector, I would say it's the perfect setup. The Yakima gives more clearance over the factory rack, so I was able to get my hands under it to secure the tent hardware. If you're thinking of upgrading your factory rack, I would not hesitate to use etrailer.com
The rack has been so useful since I purchased it. Staff at etrailer.com were exceptionally helpful in getting the best option for my car and answering questions. I recommend this company, for its 110% customer service, excellent prices and timely delivery.
Bought as a pkg for my 2017 Golf R with Round Bars since I had a bunch of Yakima bike racks and a canoe gunwale rack for my old Yakima set up. Installation was easy with good instructions. All measurements from the Yakima site appear to be spot on.
etrailer.com shipped these out quickly and all parts arrived without damage.
Everything arrived as promised and earlier than expected just installed. Looks like it will do everything I need it to which is haul around paddleboards. So far so good!
Great product and very easy to install! I called in to put my order in due to not trusting myself in getting one that fits my car. Jessica W. Was beyond professional and helpful in the process. She went also well above her position and tracked my order and sent additional information. Couldn’t be happier with the product and customer service!
I bought both the roof rack and the cage from etrailer! Put everything on myself...easy peasy!
We got a Yakima Roof Rack system with locks and fairing for a "lime squeeze metallic" (Green...) 2011 Ford Fiesta 5dr Hatchback. Received the package yesterday and set it up within about an hour.
Roof rack on my 2005 Chevy Uplander. Also ordered the Q towers and fairing.
first try was missing what was needed
Etrailer helped. It was great!
Sturdy as all get out but a bit noisy on the freeway, if the flat bars had been an option when we purchased would have gone for those.
Took a few months to get because covid-19 slowed production but worth the wait. It's awsome
Loved the Yakima roof rack system. It's been a year and it is still going strong. Such an easy install and it looks great on my truck. My Yakima Skybox 16 sits perfectly atop the roof rack. My drives to The Sunshine State are all the more pleasurable and comfortable. My cargo area now has plenty of extra space since I load up my skybox 16 which sits perfectly on my Yakima roof rack system. The service from Etrailer was awesome. Thank you guys for your customer service and for selling such great products. I would recommend Etrailer to anyone.
What can one say with Yakima products and how etrailer supports you, (or me), the customer. The Yakima round bar cross members and towers are great. Supports the weight and very little wind noise. Shipping was quick and undamaged.
If I need certain products I come to etrailer first and even after price checking others they can't be beat.
I ordered the Yakima RailGrab Kit with 48" round bars and the Gunwale Canoe Carrier Brackets on the advice of friends who have used a Yakima rack for years. I want to carry a canoe on my Subaru Forester, equipped with factory flush mounted rack, but needed something wider to hold my canoe, which is 38.5" at its center. This system is just the thing. It installs easily and the towers fit my the contours of my factory siderails perfectly. The Gunwale Brackets adjust with a twist-knob to snug up to the canoe for a secure fit. Once they're adjusted to the correct width, loading the canoe is easy-ever-after.
Note: the endcaps are included in the RailGrab package, as are two cam straps, so you don't need to buy these. At $300 for everything, etrailer has a great price, and the order was on my porch in less than a week. Emails to customer service were answered promptly, and a follow-up email to ask about my experience prompted me to write this very enthusiastic review. Thanks!
Excellent quality bars. I've carried everything from ladders to kayaks on these with no issues. I did have to add the wind deflector as these round bars are a little more noisy compared to the aerodynamic cross bar options. Ordering from etrailer is easy as can be. I've bought several items from them over the years and never had a bad experience. Just like Yakima, etrailer is all quality.
I use it on top of a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. A secure grab to the roof rails and good support for a 105 lb. rooftop tent. If the crossbars were square, it would be better for my particular application. But, that was my choice.
Do you have a question about this Roof Rack?
Condition: Badly Dinged
Notes: Bars have minor blemish on one side, strictly cosmetic.

I left the end caps off and the rust issue I had with previous bars is no longer a problem since water is not trapped in the bars.
