Yakima CoreBars - 60" Long - Qty 2:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Hey guys. Today we have a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder and we're going to do a test fit on the Yakima CoreBar crossbar roof rack system. Now, this roof rack system is going to mount to the raised side rails on your Pathfinder and it's going to allow you to get your favorite accessories, whether you've got a bike rack, a kayak carrier, or even a rooftop cargo box up on your roof and get those proper gear on your roof so you don't have to take up any space inside your vehicle. Now, this roof rack's made up of two different parts. Up top, we're going to have our Yakima CoreBar cross bars. These are going to be made out of steel with a vinyl coating on top to help protect it from rust and corrosion. If I take off the end cap, you're going to see the steel right here on the center, and like I said, that vinyl is just covering all around it and along with this end cap, it's going to protect it from rusting over time. Now, we have the 60 inch ones on top but if you want a longer crossbar, to maybe have some more crossbar overhang, you can opt for the longer bar, just see etrailer.com, and one thing you don't want to make sure of is that your crossbar opening does not extend past your side view mirrors, as long as you're within that range then you can go ahead and get the bigger size.Down below we're going to have the Yakima TimberLine towers connecting our CoreBar crossbars down to our raised side rails. You can see that it has this bracket that comes over the top of our CoreBar and clamps down on top of it to keep it in place.
If I take the end cap off, we'll take a look at the inside real quick. We see we have both of our tightening bolts to tighten down our TimberLine tower to our raised side rail, and to tighten down our tower to our CoreBar crossbar.Under here, we're going to have our rubber coated steel strap coming under our raised side rail and locks into there. Once we tighten that down, it's going to pull on the back side to tighten itself down onto the raised side rail. It's got a secure fit, as you can see. Then you just put your end cap on when you're all done installing it.You see we do have these plastic locks right here.
We can replace those with Yakima Lock Cores, which are sold separately here at eTrailer and that could just give you a more secure feeling for your roof rack, so no one can just come up and remove it unless they have the key. Now, the CoreBar roof rack system is going to be more heavy duty. As I said, it's got a steel construction to it, so it's going to have a much higher weight capacity when compared to the standard JetStream roof rack system. It's going to come in at 220 pounds, but do double check with your Pathfinder's owners manual to make sure that your roof can handle that weight. Now I'll give you some clearance measurements. First, from the top of our roof to the bottom of our CoreBar, that's going to be three inches, which is plenty of space to get any clamp on accessories or strap on accessories under your crossbar without risking damaging the finish on top of your vehicle. Now, if we go from the top of our roof to the top of our crossbar, that's going to be three and three quarters inches. That's something to keep in mind because that's how much you've added to the top of your roof, so in your low inaudible 00:02:46 situations, you want to keep that in mind, how much you've added to it.Also, if your Pathfinder does have a sunroof, this one does not, but if you do have one, it is going to be able to be used when the roof rack is installed, just be sure you close it before you put any accessories on your roof rack. Now that we've gone over some of the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed.
You see we have the front one installed, the rear one's going to install the exact same way. I'll show you how to do that. We have a partially assembled on this side. We'll go ahead and do the other side. Now, first we're going to grab our TimberLine tower. We have this plastic piece right here we need to snap into place, it's going to fit just like that, just push down until you hear it snap into place like so.Now, you want to make sure that you get this piece that's going to wrap around our CoreBar on the right way.
So how we're going to do that is we're going to come over to the edge of our CoreBar, we need to fit it on there like so and we also want to make sure that the open part of our strap faces the outside, so it's going to go on like this. So we're going to bring it off and it's going to fit onto that screw that's in there. So we'll just sit it on top for now, then what we actually have to do once we get it sat on top is push the strap all the way through, then on the inside there's going to be a bolt, so we'll just take our tightening tool and begin to thread it onto this little bracket right here. Now, we don't want to go too tight right away, we just need it a little bit snug. It's still a bit loose but it's threaded on there so now what we're going to do, spring it and slide it onto our CoreBar crossbar and then we're going to take our tightening tool and tighten it down all the way until you hear the audible clicks from our tightening tool. Once you hear those clicks, you know it's tight enough. Grab your end cap for your CoreBar, throw it on there and now we can put it on our roof. Now, if you have any height restriction, it's not a big deal just to go ahead and open up your rear door and you just take a step up, you want to make sure you have a grip before you go and step up there. And now when we put it in place, we want to make sure we try to get that strap under our raised side rail. There you go, like so, and then we'll bring this TimberLine tower over, get this strap under. Now just kind of get it roughly where you think it should go but then grab your tape measure and we'll go ahead and measure our crossbar spread. Now, when measuring your crossbar spread, there's no set measurement when it comes to the raised side rails but you just want to make sure it's over 24 inches. I like to usually base it off whatever accessory I'm hauling. Because we don't have anything to put on, we're just going to go with a nice round number, we'll go from center crossbar to center crossbar, scoot it back a bit, there we go, and then just make sure it's the same measurement on both sides. Now we can begin tightening down our TimberLine towers. Now, you see we have two different bolts. We have one right here and there's one on the inside. We need to worry about this one right now. So we need to bring our strap, get it set in place and we'll take our included tightening tool, begin to tighten it down. And, again, this tool's going to let you know when you have it all the way secure. Just like that, so then you'll remove it.Now we're going to tighten down the second bolt. What that's going to do is tighten down our TimberLine tower to our Yakima CoreBar so it doesn't move at all. Before you do that, you want to make sure you have an even crossbar overhang, meaning from the distance from the TimberLine tower to the outside of the bar, you want to make sure that's even on both sides. We've already done that, so we'll go ahead and tighten this down. There, I heard that click so now we'll grab our end cap, put it on and then once you've repeated this process on both sides, you're ready to load up your favorite Yakima accessories and then hit the road. Now, with all that being said, that's going to do it for our test fit of the Yakima CoreBar crossbar roof rack system on our 2018 Nissan Pathfinder.

These crossbars combine the strength of steel with an aerodynamic shape to create a heavy-duty yet quiet roof rack for your vehicle. Full-length bars maximize cargo carrying capacity and work with most clamp-on accessories.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Five-star seller. High quality products, fast shipping. Thank you for a pleasant buying experience.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
We purchased the Yakima Skyline Towers roof rack with the Jet Stream crossbars. Took about 2 hours to install on the naked roof of our Flex. I drilled through the roof strip for the mounting bolts and they fit tighter than the factory rails. Very happy with our choice.
Item was as described and shipping was fast. Overall very satisfied with trailer. Will definitely order my stuff from them
Was skeptical at first because I needed the posts as well for my 2011 Honda Element. The Honda crossbars were not adequately weight rated and is why I opted for Yakima. Couldn't be happier with my choice as this assembly has served me well throughout the year.
Perfect. Perfect. Easy to install and high quality. Confident in this product. Excellent instructions. Used with towers of course! Towers and crossbars have demonstrated to be strong and durable with several trips with kayaks.
I ordered the wrong set up for my car, but the excellent customer service specialist set me up and expedited my roof rack that fit perfectly. I highly recommend calling and speaking with the knowledgeable staff about your needs. I'm super happy with the experience overall!
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
I have not bought car roof racks for decades--back when there were those very useful rain gutters. So I was shocked with the high prices. But what you get today is much more carefully engineered with a complicated construction. This Yakima version even comes with a manual 3.5 mm hex driver which turns out to be a torque wrench too. You use it 16 times, torquing to its limit, in installing the two cross rails on the four towers. Years ago you installed the towers where you wanted them on the rain gutters and adjusted the cross rails by sight. No more. You must go on line to Yakima. You must get the precisely engineered dimensions for your exact vehicle. You even adjust the towers for the roof slope and any toe-in of the roof line. Pay attention to the precise instructions. The result is very solid. I wish that I had more space between the cross rails. There is room for another 6 or 8 inches given where the door openings on my 2019 Toyota Highlander are spaced. But then the rear base clips would be different and that logistics would add yet more to the price. I am confident that I can secure a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood on the cross rails. And I will find my vehicle in the mall parking lot easier with those good looking rails. While I am happy with the end product, I wish the vendors had given more explanation of the fixed dimensions of today's installations. That would have helped make my on-line shopping less frustrating. Part of the problem is that Yakima and Thule do not provide cross rails for my LE Highlander's existing tower bases. And I could not get 60 inch cross rails on any of the versions that fit my LE's bases.
The roof rack has been awesome! It has been really handy to be able to attach our bike rack attachment, kayak bars or traveling cargo carrier. My only complaint is that the end caps fell off somewhere along one of our many adventures and looks a bit disheveled. Other than the appearance it has been very versatile and we love it!
I want to thank the staff at eTrailer for their outstanding support. After my roof rack order got off to a shaky start the customer service staff stepped in and made it right; 100% RIGHT. I cannot thank them, and eTrailer, enough. Regarding the roof rack itself, I have now installed it and can vouch that the installation was a breeze. All parts fit and the instructions were correct. For the record, this is not my first purchase from eTrailer (I've bought hitch items from them before) and it won't be my last. They have ALWAYS given great service, their web site works, their products and descriptions are good, etc., etc. Thank you!
Roof rack parts were ordered correctly and shipped quickly.
Well you asked for it so;
I ordered this as part of my roof rack for a 2021 Nissan rogue. The complete roof rack set was unavailable le as one bracket was on back order and said would ship in under a month so I ordered everything else in the meantime. Little did I know it would take a over a year to get one stupid bracket and yes, I'm still waiting. I can't even return the items I bought because it's way past the 90 day policy even though they're brand new still in the box collecting dust. etrailer, this has been the worst experience I've had yet with you guys. Oh still waiting for my one bracket to complete my roof rack
I waited several weeks for roof rack to arrive after ordering online. I am accustomed to Thule racks, but could not find any towers/bases to fit the 2019 Santa Fe. Once here, the Yakima rack mounted with ease and I look forward to hauling kayaks or basket on the roof.
Thank you etrailer.
The instructions were different for another set of bars. Was a pain to get right...all the measurements on Yakima were off...I figured it out on my own...should have got Thule or nicer bars ..end caps were not good either...flawed fit... otherwise will do just not happy with the product perse or instructions...delivery good...will see how they do.
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
I did a lot of research before purchasing my roof rack. I came across this website and liked the prices, and after much thought, decided to get the Yakima CoreBar crossbars. I received my roof rack within a couple days of ordering! It's extremely sturdy and doesn't make hardly any wind noise. I love it and it looks great on my car, couldn't be happier with my purchase!!
