Yakima JetStream Crossbars - 50" Long - Black - Qty 2:Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Today on our 2016 Kia Sorento we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System consisting of part numbers Y00425, these are the Yakima Jet Stream Crossbars, 50" long, as well as part number Y00145, these are the Ridge Line Towers for the Yakima Crossbars, and finally part number Y06013, this is the Ridge Clip Fit Kit for the Kia Sorento. The Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle. It can carry bike racks, cargo baskets, cargo boxes, and ski and snowboard carriers. It has a weight capacity of 165 pounds between the two bars, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that weight. If we remove our end cap here you can see that we can use T-track accessories by pushing down this center strip and sliding them into place. Also this center strip, combined with the aerodynamic shape of our bar will cut down wind noise and drag while we're driving. The end caps do have these knock-outs where you can replace them with Yakima SKS Lock Cores, so you can make whatever accessories you're carrying as well as your roof rack keyed alike and secured to your roof.
This grips around your flush mount side rails as you can see here, and uses fixed mounts so you don't have to worry about measuring or anything like that when you install them. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have most of our parts here. We have our tower, the end caps, the fit kit portions for the towers, as well as the actual Ridge Clip Fit Kit here with the two clamps for each side. And of course we have our tightening tool here. We have it partially assembled on our bar here.
We'll go ahead and flip this upside down, and complete putting this tower on the other end of our bar. Before we actually install our tower onto our bar I'd like to point out this channel here in the center. Now normally you would have this rubber strip sitting down in place where you would ct it to length between the two towers, but for today's demonstration purposes we went ahead and just removed it. Our first step is to remove the end cap here for our tower. Just push on both sides like so. Next we want to loosen up the screws here and here about four or so turns until they open up.
So we'll take our tightening tool and do that. To give us a better idea of what we're looking for we want to make sure that the end of this screw here is flush with this edge here. With this top one you want to loosen up about eight turns or so, and that's so underneath you can get to the screw to tighten down the top portion here. Next we'll take our plastic bracket here from our jet stream bar kit, and we'll take this metal piece here, and you want to line it up with the screw in the center there. We'll come back underneath and start to tighten that down all the way til you hear three audible clicks from our tightening tool. Now we can slide this end into the channel of our jet stream bar.
Next we'll install our pad from our fit kit, and that just snaps into place onto our tower. Next we'll install our end caps, and then we can set this onto the flush rails of our vehicle. When we set our bars down you're going to see the two holes here and here. We want to line it up with the rear hole, because at the front we installed it into our front most hole. I would like to emphasize that the towers aren't tightened down to the bars at all at this point. This enables us to adjust them as needed, because you want the bars to sit on top like this. We'll get this set straight on both sides and then we can measure from the end out for our crossbar over hang to make sure it's even on both sides, and then we can start installing the clamps that will go into place around the actual flush side rails. Next we can install our front clamp. We know it's the front clamp because it just has the one notch on the side that'll hang in this notch here on our tower. So we'll lift that up, push it up and through, and set it back down. You can also see there's a cut out for the bolt to tighten it down. Next we'll install our clamp that goes around the backside of the flush mount, and you'll notice it has a notch here to fit in the rear hole that we pointed out earlier on the actual flush mount rail. There we go. This also has two notches it'll hang on in the back. As you line this notch up with the rear hole in our flush mount rail make sure it makes contact. There we go. Now we can tighten these down with our included tool. As I tighten this down I'm actually going to push the back plate into that hole just to make sure it stays where it needs to. As you can see the edge here is actually gripping around our flush mount here while holding it together. Again you're going to hear these three audible clicks, just so you don't over-tighten this on your roof rack. There we go. And we'll repeat this for the other side as well. Our final step in tightening down is going to be this screw here, which will tighten down the tower to your bar. Again you'll hear those clicks. We'll do this on both sides as well. Our final step, we're going to go ahead and put our end caps back into place. You'll see it has these two hooks here that'll go into these two points on our towers. Then we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. There you have it for the Yakima Jet Stream Roof Rack System on our 2016 Kia Sorento.

Knowledgeable sales rep.Help me through the process on purchasing my roof rack Recommended to anyone quality parts
Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
For a 2015 Mazda 3, 4 door sedan.
I used the 50" jetstream bars with the skyline towers and the #22 Landing Pads.
Went together easy, great quality, very solid feeling! And, easy to remove and install when needed.
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Fit our Subaru Forester perfectly. Install was a breeze.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Still look and work great after a year. Fantastic investment and they didn't reduce my fuel economy. They don't produce a lot of wind noise either.
The design of the connection seems a little sketchy to me. Hopefully I'm wrong and the design engineers have it figured out. etrailer's selection process, delivery ann installation help both online and on the phone was excellent

Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
I chose Yakima because I had one in the past and they were always reliable. Thule was my next choice but didn’t like the look of 53’ crossbars on my car. I really appreciated the easy to follow instruction that made installation a breeze. The kit came complete with everything I needed to install right out of the box. I purchased the 2 Hightower bike racks to go with the roof rack system and plan to safely secure both bikes for our trips. It was a bit heavier than I anticipated (combined with the bike carriers) which will hurt my MPG but having easy access to disassemble the bike carriers when not in use made it a no brained. Additionally, I love the look of the system on my car.
I waited several weeks for roof rack to arrive after ordering online. I am accustomed to Thule racks, but could not find any towers/bases to fit the 2019 Santa Fe. Once here, the Yakima rack mounted with ease and I look forward to hauling kayaks or basket on the roof.
Thank you etrailer.
Great bars and easy installation on my 2012 Prius C
The yakima jetstream crossbar looks beautiful. Quality is great. Took my vehicle for a test drive, and i didnt hear anything loose or broken from the bars. Very satisfied with the product and the instructions were great. It was my first time installing a roof rack too.
Lightweight and actually quite quiet with no attachments on them. With my bike racks there is a fair amount of noise but it doesn't come from just these. Mine is on a 2011 BMW 335.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. I love that there's a rubber piece in the top rail that doesn't need to be cut, which makes it a very flush and smooth fit. I also love the modularity and the weight that it can handle, especially for the stuff i plan on carrying.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. They provided a nice, flush finish and hold the racks down tight.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
not installed yet but everything was delivered on time and in good condition
Super solid rack and the only one that fits the Jeep Cherokee without rails well and looks good too. Easy to install and worth the price
