Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the ProGrip ratchet tie down straps. Now, these tie down straps that you use to secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer. The ratcheting mechanism makes it easy to tighten down the strap and maintain tension on the straps. All you have to do is place the strap over or around your load, connect the hooks to secure anchor points, pull out any slack, and then use the ratcheting mechanism to apply tension and tighten the strap to secure your load. It's a really nice design. It's very easy to use. It does come in a four pack.
What makes this system different from other ratchet straps is it actually has a built in beverage opener in each ratchet handle mechanism, so that's kind of a neat fun add on to these ratchet straps. The S hooks are made from steel, they're coated with vinyl to keep them from scratching anything they come into contact with. Each strap measures 10 foot long by one inch wide. Each one has a safe working load limit of 300 pounds with a maximum load or break strength rating of 900 pounds. One of the common questions we get with ratchet mechanisms or ratchet straps is how do you feed the strap into the mechanism and then how do you release the tension. What I wanna do is simply show you how to release the tension first.
All you have to do is use this release lever right here, open the ratchet mechanism almost to a flat position, pull on the hook end, and you can see that allows the strap to slide smoothly through the ratchet mechanism, so that's how you release tension when you're ready to unload your gear.It has the middle position, which is the ratcheting position and then it has a closed position, which is the position you'd want it in as you're heading down the road. Again, to release tension, pull up on the release lever, open it all the way, pull on the hook end. That allows you to release any of the tension. When you get this, you basically get it as I have it laid out here on the table. So, you get your ratcheting mechanisms and you get your strap. When you're ready to assemble, it's really simply.
You want to find the bare end of the strap, and the ratcheting mechanism has a center area here, and it has a slit that goes through there. You take the strap, place it through that opening, and then you bring the strap directly back over that center section, and that's all there is to it. Now you're ready to connect the hooks, and then you can use the ratcheting mechanism to apply tension and tighten the strap down. That's gonna do it for today's look at the ProGrip ratchet tie down straps.
