Does 2" Adapter on Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack Reduce the Durability and Lifespan

Question:

I have only owned 2” hitch racks. Does the fact that this one also works in a 1.25” receiver translate into reduced durability and life span? I am assuming this is also why the rack is not RV-rated.

In a sense, but not necessarily. The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # TH903202 is backed by a limited lifetime warranty so as long as it's used within the parameters of the weight capacities and what it's been tested and approved to work on you shouldn't be seeing any issues. The 2" adapter plays a part in the durability of the rack on an RV but not for normal use.

When it comes to the RV rating that's kind of a new animal that bike rack manufacturers are trying to tackle. Since there is more movement at the back of an RV it causes more aggressive wear and tear on the rack than what you'll see on a standard passenger vehicle.

If your bikes don't have front fenders then a great alternative is the Swagman Escapee RV Bike Rack # S39SR which has a weight rating of 60 lbs per bike and has a bolt that can be used instead of the folding pin and clip when this is installed on an RV. Swagman also has the Ramp Kit # S59SR you can pick up to make loading and unloading your bikes much easier.
