Are you a full-time RVer or like to take your rig to the campground for weeks at a time? Perhaps you're leery of the water quality at RV parks and want to ensure you have clean, safe, and great tasting water for the whole family. The Clearsource Onboard gives you a permanent setup inside your RV's utility bay that's designed to filter your water two separate times.

This 2-stage, indoor system uses a 5.0-micron coconut shell carbon block filter to capture sediment, insecticides, pesticides, chloramines, volatile organic compounds, and other solvents to improve the taste and smell of your water. The second stage features an industry-leading 0.2-micron filter to trap even the most harmful bacteria, such as E.Coli, Legionella, and the Giardia cyst, giving you advanced protection against all the bad stuff. Whether you're drinking a tall glass of water, rinsing off in the shower, or washing dishes after dinner, the Clearsource Onboard will give you the peace of mind you need.

What is a Micron

Furrion

A micron is a unit of measurement equal to 0.0001 cm and is often used to define the size of water contaminants. Some of the most common contaminants are sediment, silt, bacteria, and the Giardia cyst. Micron levels, or pores in water filters, are typically between 0.5 to 5 microns, and in some cases as low as 0.2 microns. A common misconception of water filters is that the higher the micron rating, the better the filter. It's actually the opposite. While a 5.0-micron filter can sift out rust and sediment, a filter with a 0.5-micron rating can filter out insecticides, pesticides, chloramines, and volatile organic compounds. Lower micron filters can also trap heavy metals and the more harmful microscopic water contaminants, such as E. Coli, the Giardia cyst, Legionella, and viruses including Hepatitis A, giving you cleaner, safer, and better tasting water.

Video Transcript for Review of Clearsource RV Water Filter - Water Filter Systems - CS27FR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we gonna take a look at the Clearsource 2-canister Onboard RV water filter system. Now this is an indoor two-stage water filter system that'll purify water from your RV Park hookup. It'll give you a clean water for drinking, showering, cooking, washing dishes and more. It is perfect for full-time RV users or extended state camping. I wanna zoom in and show you the first stage, which is this one right here.

And this is the filter out of it. This is a 5.0 micron coconut shell carbon block filter. This will filter out chemicals and sediment to improve taste and smell, and then next to it right over here is the second stage filter, this is a 0.2 micron filter, which will filter out harmful bacteria, such as E. Coli, Legionellae and other bacteria. The canister they go in, you can see right here.

These are FDA grade oversized canisters. They provide high water flow for stable long lasting water pressure. And what's nice, they include this canister wrench makes it very easy to remove the filters. Basically you can see all you have to do with this, is just slide it up on there and then as you twist this you can loosen it. And when you turn it the other way it'll tighten it up.

So very easy to operate. Now the canisters do flow in one direction only. So your water will come in this way, go through the first filter, go through the second filter and then come out this way. The frame if you noticed that holds the canisters, it's a nice powder coated metal frame, keeps the canister stable. They do use the integrated half inch PEX adapters right over here on each end.

This allows you to connect to your RV's plumbing. And this is a one-time permanent installation inside your RVs utility bay. You notice on the very back of this frame, they have the pre drilled holes for easy mounting. Now the hardware to mount this is not included, you would have to supply that. Now this is IAPMO certified. It is made in the USA. A few dimensions on this. If we measure the width on this. It's gonna be right at 12 inches. The height of it. We go from the bottom, all the way to the top. That's gonna be right at about 12 and a quarter inches. And then the total depth on it, is right about seven and a half inches deep. Now the micron rating on the first filter we mentioned is 5.0, on the second filter is .2, the filter life on this is about up to 2000 gallons per filter. Operating pressure, the total range is 25 PSI up to a 100 PSI, and the ideal range is 40 PSI to 65 PSI. The flow rate on this is a 6.5 gallons a minute at 40 PSI. And the operating temperature range is 35 degrees Fahrenheit up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. I wanna zoom back in just to show you. If we just unscrew this, I wanted to show you how the filters go in. And you can see there's your, you just take your filter, line up the hole in the bottom with the little stud portion right there on the top, and just bring it around, put it up under there, and then just start tightening it down. And once you get it tightened down enough again, just get your canister wrench in there. And again, you don't have to over-tighten this. You just need to snug it up a little bit. And then you'll do the same on this one. So it's very easy to change out your filters when you need to. Take that out the same way, has a nice o-ring up at the top to help seal it. Drop in your filter, make sure it lines up, and then get it to line up that way. And just thread it on. It's got large threads so it threads on pretty easy, and again just snug it up, and then use your wrench to tighten it up and then just like that you're all ready to go. But that should do it for the review on the Clearsource 2-canister Onboard RV water filter system..

Very solidly built and easy to maintain. We have it wall-mounted in a shed with our other well water equipment and we supply the trailer from there.
In our application flow from right to left would have been more convenient than left to right. I was informed reversing the flow by switching the filter bodies would not work. Keep this in mind when planning your installation.

This is about installation only, I haven't had time to actually use the system, but I know it's going to do exact ally what i need it to do. Filter my incoming water. While I usually don't drink water out of the faucet, I do use the water to make coffee or flavored drinks. Installation was easy, unit has some weight so it helps to have someone hold the unit while it's being mounted. Looks great and is out of the way. I was able to put water cutoffs and a bypass valve for when I change out the filters. Thanks etrailer for the fast shipment.
