Video Transcript for Camco Cam Lock Review
Today in our pop-up camper we are going to take a look at and show you to install the Camco CamLoc. This is a straighter off-set key operated lock, it's part number CAM44353. Here's what the Camco CamLoc will look like once it's installed. As you can see it's going to come with two keys to operate it. It's a very versatile little lock. It's really going to work out great on cabinets, RVs, campers, gun locks, cash boxes, wherever we need a replacement tumbler style lock. It operates nice and smoothly, no issues there.
It's going to have a chrome finish so it will be corrosion resistant for us. If you look here on the back side, it's going to come with an off-set cam and also a straight cam, so again very versatile. It uses the larger nut there, I'm just going to screw that down and hold it in place and our cam could be easily changed with our Phillips head screw driver there. Now our Camco seven eighths inch diameter locks going to be a great replacement in a situation like we've got here today. Our customer's door just kind of hangs open, he had put some tape on it to try and hold it closed during transport. Basically, what's happened is he's lost the rear catch, or that little tab that sticks down.
He's also lost his key, so not a good situation in either sense. Replacement, super easy with this. Just going to take a ridge and we want to loosen up, see that nut that's on the back there, let's loosen that up. Un-thread it and we could just push that right out. Real easy, real simple.
Now, this one happened to have a little handle on it, if yours has that we could probably reuse it. We'll get our new lock out of the package now, it's going to come with two keys, it's also going to have two different blades here for the back. One that is off-set and one that's straight. You'll just want to use whichever one of those that's going to give you the tightest, most secure fit. To remove it, let's take that Phillips screw out of the back. We'll set that screw, as well as that washer aside, we will be reusing that.
Let me check out our little handle that's on there, yeah that will slide on there, not give us any trouble. This will get placed right back through and then around here in the back side we'll put on our nut. Let's see if that off-set catch will work for us in this situation. Put it to where that off-sets toward the inside and then again just line up the squares. Thread in our little screw. Let's see. As you can see doing it that way we are going to have a much more secure fit. With that installed nice and securely that's going to complete today's installation of the Camco CamLoc part number CAM44353. .

The specs of the part on your website says that the offset lever was an inch and an eighth OD. The three locks I received have offset levers that are about a half inch longer than that. I made them work by grinding that much off of them rather than to mess with a return. Only took about an hour.

I purchased this enclosed trailer lock system to use on my tool storage shed after being broken into. This thing is great. It has secured my shed and the way it mounts, they'd have to tear the shed down in order to get into it. The parts arrived on time, they were complete and I've been using it for a year. I live in rainy country and there are no signs of rust or aging at all. Great part and great value.

Didn’t fit exactly how I wanted to. A little loose after I tightened it all up compared to my old ones. Don’t like how where the key enters the lock is always open. Can cause dirt and grime to get inmkre easily than the locks that shut where the key goes if the key is not in it. Good price, came with different types of latches which helped cause I needed the other one tomake it fit

These cam lock work fine to replace my existing locks and manual cams. I had to use the old locking arms though to get the best fit. All the locks did use the same key.

- RV Lock That Includes Offset CamIt sounds like you're looking for replacement offset cams for some broken ones on your RV's locks. We do not sell offset cams on their own but we do have lock kits like # CAM44353 that is also 7/8-inch and that includes both straight and offset type cams, however this lock is not offered keyed-alike as with the Way Interglobal part # 295-000003. You may be able to source just the offset cams at a local locksmith.

What you are describing sounds similar to # CAM44353 which could work for you. The old locks will have to be removed of course. I am glad you were able to get these to work for your application! I have double checked our measurements for this item and found that they measure out to be 1.63 inches from the key core center to the end of the offset lever. I have gotten this information updated to our site, in order for the diagram to be available to future customers.
