When replacing gas shock on your vehicle or RV, you will want to make sure you are buying a replacement with the exact same extended length, compressed length, and pounds of force. This information is usually printed on the shock. Lengths are measured from the center of the ball joint used for mounting. If you are planning on installing gas shocks on something for the first time, identifying the shock you need requires fairly complex initial calculations, so be sure to do your research to avoid purchasing a shock that will not fit your application.

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this JR Products 20 inch long gas shock. Now this is a quick and easy replacement for any worn or broken gas shock that you may have. This will replace a gas shock on multiple applications like your RV or trailer doors, storage compartment doors, truck bed covers, or even fold-down camper beds. It is designed with a nice high-quality black nitride shaft, does include the plastic ends with the locking clips on them to secure it to the mounting ball.
The connection type on this is a 10 millimeter ball socket. And I just want to zoom in just to show you what we're talking about if inaudible 00:00:37. There's your ball socket. This does install easily in minutes. There's no special tools required. What you would do, it has this locking clip over it, so you'll take a flat tip screwdriver, slide it underneath there, pry open that clip.
And that'll allow you to remove your old shock from your ball socket. And then with this new one, you can do the same way. You just pop open that clip. You don't have to remove the clip, just pop it up enough so it releases the pressure. And then you'll take this, push it onto the ball socket, and then push that clip back down.
It'll secure it into place. Now, when you do install this, you do want this inner rod right here facing down. And then they also recommend to replace these gas shocks in pairs. Now the extended length, which will be measured from the center of this ball socket to the center of this one, this is fully extended, is going to be right at 20 inches. If we would compress this all the way down, the compressed length would measure 11.41 inches. And the output force on this gas shock is 40 pounds.
But that should do it for the review on the JR Products 20 inch long gas shock..

As described
Returned and item and sent me the correct item.
Works great, got them fast!
Worked great for the engine cover in my 1994 Mastercraft Prostar 205!
good product, not appropriate for my application, saved as replacement
for another location.
Great Products, speedy delivery!
The selection process was easy to follow. I needed gas struts with a greater lift capacity for our under bed storage due to the addition of a memory foam mattress. I was able to select a strut pair with the proper length and extension from the website. The struts were received quickly and were exactly what I needed. The bed now raises gently and remains elevated.
When my package arrived it was beat up and one of the clips on the end of the shock was missing, not what I would give a good report !!
Item was exactly as advertised, easy installation, fits perfectly on our RV door. Our previous gas shock was worn out & would not hold the door open. This product is sturdy & stable. It fixed the issue.
This strut did not fit precisely due to the thickness of the end connectors. They are thicker than the original strut and since the strut has to fit between the bottom of the door and the threshold in the closed position it would not allow the door to close. I found that by exchanging the end connectors with the original strut I was able to install the strut and close the door. The only problem with this solution is that the new strut with the old connectors is slightly longer than the old strut/connector assembly and now allows the door to open slightly farther than before. Our awning arm just barely clears the door when opening and closing so will have to be very careful from now on when extending and retracting the awning. Our motorhome is a Sunseeker 3010ds model in case this is helpful to others ordering this product.
Product is installed but instructions were a bit vague and difficult to implement(related to the removal of previous gas shock bar).
Exactly what I needed for my Kwik Kamp motorcycle trailer! It's nice to share information in our group when we find parts to use for our discontinued campers.
Thanks, now my tool box won't cut my arm off.
product works well, shipping took a little longer than I expected
Very fast delivery! I've ordered from e-trailer several times and service has always been great!
These work great for toolbox lid
The head that attached to the bottom door jamb was way to huge couldn't close the door I was able to switch the one from the old strut the thread size not the same I had to force it on most likely will pull off I ordered the 30 pound for my fifth wheel door if people ask the 20 pound model is the correct size but I chose the 30 pound my mistake
