How To Choose the Correct JR Products Gas Shock

I ordered two 20 pound gas springs and theyre too weak to hold the door open. The door is aluminum, horizontally mounted, 7foot long and 2foot wide, with the hinge at the top. The force needed to hold the door open, 90 degrees is 13 pounds as measured with a spring scale in the center on the outer edge. What pressure springs do I need?

There are many factors that go into selecting the correct gas shock, the easiest would be to simply match the new shock with the existing using any labels printed on the body. If none are present or you are adding a new one then you can use a formula found online to find the correct force and length to use. The Gas Shock part # 372-5300-40 for example has a 40 lb force and measures 20" extended. I have attached a full list of options below.
