Video Transcript for WeatherTech Rear Mud Flap Installation - 2012 Ram 1500

Hello, everybody. Clayton here at etrailer.com Here at etrailer, we install, test and review a lot of different products to help you as a customer make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today we're going to be working on a 2012 Ram 1500. We're going to be taking a look at, and I'll be showing you how to install the WeatherTech no-drill mud flaps for the rear. Adding mud flaps to the back of your truck is gonna be an awesome upgrade. Especially in this case, our customer has really wide tires.

So they're going to poke out from our actual wheel well, as you see, so anything we can do to protect our paint is gonna be really nice. And another added benefit is this is gonna help protect any trailer that we're towing behind us. So it's not only going to save our paint on our truck, it's also gonna save our trailer. The mud flaps are going to be digitally cut to fit our vehicle. As you can see, they fit the body really nicely and sit nice and snug, and they're very secure.

They are going to be constructed out of a high quality thermoplastic resin. So they are nice and durable as you can see. They're not going to fade over time. They're going to look really nice but also hold up to all weather conditions as well. So now we'll go ahead and drive through our little test course here.

Now there is some mud. We hit our mud here, as you can see. Now the mud flap isn't going to protect anything above the wheel well, due to how far the tires poke out. But as you can see there's a little bit of dry gravel water there. And you can notice that there's not more mud being added by that dry gravel water.

So it's doing its intended job. After our little test course, you can tell we did get quite a bit of mud back here and that's simply because our tire protrudes from the wheel-well quite a bit. I would suggest checking out the Mud Skins mud flaps, here at etrailer. Those are going to be a little bit more adjustable. You can set those out quite a bit more to make it better suited for your tire. However, if you are running a stock size tire this is going to do just fine because as you can see down here there is quite a bit of mud on the inside of the mud flap. And like I said, it's just because our tire is poking out of our wheel well, that we got so much mud. So as far as installation getting these installed it's something that you can definitely do at home. There's no drilling or anything like that. You know a lot of times when you're installing mud flaps you don't want to drill into your fenders. Cause that's just going to open up the opportunity for more corrosion. So this is going to be really nice. It uses factory hardware. So like I said, you're not going to have to worry about added rust or anything like that. And it's going to protect our paint which is essentially why we want these. With that being said, let's take a look at the installation now. To begin our installation we're going to be working at the rear of our vehicle here, right inside of our wheel well. We have two eight millimeter fasteners that we need to remove. We have one here and one down here at the corner. We just want to clean off our surface right here. We're just going to use soapy water but you can also use alcohol or anything like that, that you have at home. We get a nice clean mating surface. We'll do all the same steps we're doing here on the other side. And now grab our mud flat. We're just going to set this in here we're gonna get our hardware started. We will be reusing our factory hardware. You don't have to tighten these down very much. Just good and snug will do. You do want to make sure that you have this outer edge aligned with the outer edge of the fender. We'll repeat that exact same process on the driver's side. That's gonna do it for our look at and our installation of the WeatherTech no-drill mud flaps for the rear on our 2012 Ram 1500..

Good fit but could be a little wider still get spray on trailer

Worked as described. Could be a few inches longer

by:

Mud flaps were very easy to install, but they only hang down about 6 inches. They will help minimize any rock chips on the truck, but not as well for the trailer's I pull.

by:

Took less than 5 minutes per side. Fit great, no cutting or drilling.

I am very disappointed with the Weather Tech mudflaps, not because it took forever for them to be delivered (though it did -I was not told by e-trailer that they weren't in stock the day I ordered them), but by the fact when they were finally delivered, they were missing instructions (front mudflaps) and parts (rear mudflap was missing the center screw to the lock; the lock was found loose in the bag. I had to go to home depot to try and find the errant screw - i was not about to send them back and wait some more).
I have a lot of weather tech products on all 4 of our cars as well as full front and rear mats in the truck, and have never had a problem like this before. Both irritating, disappointing and requiring an additional cost of money and time to rectify).
The etrailer packing was excellent, and once i collected all the necessary parts / instructions and figured out how to re-assemble the loose lock, the installation proceeded in an orderly manner though taking longer than anticipated based upon the etrailer video. The quality of the actual flaps looks to be excellent and they look good on the truck. If there had been some visible quality control initially upon opening the packages, I would have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately that is not how it played out.

Did not fit well on the 2022 Dodge Ram 3500. The rear flaps did not quite fit the OEM fender flares on the vehicle. Too tight - not enough clearance to sit nicely against the flares. There was also no hole for the trim fastener so had to drill a 1/4" hole for little plastic fastener - not a big deal. Hoping the front ones fit better, but they were worse. Same story - the "digital fit" flaps did not fit the OEM fender flares. Tried a heat gun to hopefully warm the flap and maybe get them to fit together better, but couldn't quite get it. I'll need to get some longer fasteners, otherwise one bolt and the little plastic tab are all thats holding it on. Maybe if the weather warms a bit...? Def not as advertised.

by:

Just like the description says...easy install, no drill, digital fit. Looks like they came with the truck. Highly recommend.

by:

Look great! Look OEM. Wish all the hardware was black. And in the front the two screws you pull out both sides, trash go get something a little longer and more girth. etrailer was great the arrived earlier then expected.

by:

Fantastic product. Very easy installation. High quality. Very fast delivery! Etrailer is the best as always!

by:

holes did not line up with pre existing holes on car
for installation. Very hard
to install. will NOT buy weathertec again

by:

These mud flaps are great! Good Instructions and install went quickly. They look really good and should perform well, protecting the rocker panels and the side steps from mud and stones. Very pricey but good quality. Front Pair.

by:

Took a little effort to get it to match up with the plastic wheel well fender flares but once I did I have not had any issues. Looks somewhat subtle but is pretty effective at stopping thrown debris onto the paint.

by:

Delivered timely and installed easily. Great product.

by:

I was apprehensive about buying these as the weather tech company said they would not fit. My vehicle has power running boards and 22” wheels..I researched forums and took a chance. They fit…no problem. See attached photos and video.
Thanks

by:

For someone who is "old school" and reluctant to install plastic onto a machine, I'm impressed with the ease of installation and durability so far. I've put about 7500 miles on them without an issue. And thanks to Etrailer for carrying great products and providing great info to consumers. You folks have a great Business model!

by:

This is a good investment. First, etrailer is a great place to get what you need for supplies! The weathertech mud flaps are a great addition to a raised F-250 with larger tires that pulls. This will provide the rest of the protection I need as well as cut down on debris that the tires throw up at other cars/trucks. Very easy to install and if I want to remove them then I have all the pieces necessary except for the push grommets which I can get anywhere. I think I will leave them on for a while....not bad looking either.

by:

Great service item was shipped and received quickly. Mud flaps were easy to install.

by:

Great product, easy to install, I didn't find the instructions, but was easy to figure out. I would recommend this product

by:

I ordered Weather Tech mud flaps for my GMC Sierra 1500. The front flaps were easy to install by using existing fasteners installed on the truck by GMC. The rear flaps were slightly more challenging requiring the placement of clamps (integral to the flaps) on the rear fender. The entire installation of all flaps required about 45 minutes. they look great and they will protect my fenders from being damaged by road debris.

by:

Seems like a solid product. Made in the USA. The instructions were a bit off. So I jumped on the etrailer YouTube account, found the install video. Issue solved. I will say I'm more impressed with etrailer than weathertech. However, nice fit and finish. I would recommend this product.

by:

I ordered a set of weathertech no drill mud flaps for my new 2022 Colorado and they fit great and easy to install. Well after a couple of weeks I put on GM flares so I had to order another set for flares. Same thing excellent fit and easy install. Quick shipping and good service.

by:

Fit my 2020 Honda Ridgeline perfect! Easy to install with easy to follow instructions. Match oem black plastic great. Really complete the look of truck. Very happy customer.

  • Fit of WeatherTech Mud Flaps on Ram Truck with Running Boards
Here's the lowdown on the fit, which I received directly from WeatherTech. The # WT110026-120026 will fit your truck if it has the factory add-on fender flares and running boards that DO NOT come within 2 inches of the wheel well. If they do come within 2 inches, the front mud flap will not fit, and you'd need to go with the rear # WT120026 flaps only. If you do not have the fender flares, and the running boards DO NOT come within 2 inches of the wheel wells, use part # WT110024-120024....

  • Mud Flap Recommendation for a 2015 Ram 2500
The Weathertech Mud Flaps part # WT120024 that you referenced are only confirmed to fit the models of the 2015 Ram 2500s that don't have the fender flares. Based on the picture you submitted these would not work for you.

  • Recommended Mud Flaps For 2015 Ram 1500 With Fender To Fender Running Boards
If you have running boards on your 2015 Ram that are within 2 inches of the front fender well, we do not have any mud flaps that will work for you. Since there are no running boards behind the rear fender well of your vehicle we do have rear mud flaps that will work. If your running boards do not come within 2 inches of the front fender well, the mud flaps for the front and rear for your 1500 are part # WT110024-120024. If you have factory add-on fender flares the mud flaps I recommend...

  • Mud Flaps for 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup With Factory Fender Flares and Running Boards
My contact at WeatherTech advised that you can use their 4-piece mud flap set # WT110026-120026 on your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup with factory fender flares and running boards as long as you have at minimum 2-inches of space between the front edge of the running boards and the rear edge of the front wheel wells. The mud flaps you referenced, part # WT120024, only fit trucks without the fender flares.

  • Dimensions of Mud Flaps for 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 Short Bed
The mud flaps you reference, # WT120024, are a confirmed fit for your 2010 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 Series Non-Dually without flare fenders. I went out to the warehouse and pulled these mud flaps. What I did was measure the custom contour (where the flap fits the bottom of the fender) to the bottom of the flap. That measurement is 7". See the installation instructions and the image with these measurements that I made for you at right.

  • Will WeatherTech Mud Flaps Fit 2015 Ram 2500 With Running Boards
The WeatherTech Mud Flaps, part # WT110026-120026 are designed to fit your 2015 Ram 2500 if it has the factory add-on flares. These are a no-drill installation and use the existing holes and hardware on your truck. I have attached a photo that shows what the mud flaps will look like on the front and rear when installed. The running boards on your truck should not interfere with the mud flaps. If you do not have the factory add-on flares, the front mud flaps are part # WT110045. These...

  • Recommended Front And Rear Mud Flaps For 2015 Ram 3500
I called my contact at Weather Tech and they told me that is you have any step bars within 2 inches of the wheel well opening there is not fit for mud flaps. If you do have more than 2 inches from any step bars then the mud flaps that are designed to fit your 2015 Ram 3500 are part # WT110045-120024. If the step bar is within 2 inches on either the front or the back wheel well, you can order the mud flaps separately. You would need part # WT110045 for the front or part # WT120024 for...
