Deezee Tailgate Assist Tailgate : still doing its job. Has lost a little of its zing, so I'll have to see if there's adjustment for that. Installation was easy enough and functioned just as desired (no more tailgate slamming by girlfriend while I'm holding her plants...)
Easy to put on. Makes it so much easier to put tailgate down.

Works awesome it's a great product
Easily the best addition to any truck! The form, fit and function of this produce is superb. I installed on my 2013 Silverado. The components are not close to hitting anything. Everything appears to be Zinc plated so it will withstand water for quite a while, I would like to see stainless for rust prevention but it’s not necessary. The nut-sert is a bit of a pain to get started but once it is is easy to tighten up. It takes about 3-4 seconds for the tailgate to open. For $20 and 15min install!!! Go buy this thing right now!!! You will thank yourself everytime you pop that tailgate latch! $20 bucks!!! DeeZee hit the nail on the head!

The tailgate assist cylinder was a breeze to install. !5 minutes from start to finish. Fits good, looks great and works fantastic.
Once you have one of these you'll never want to have a truck without one! I had just bought a new truck without one and everytime I openned the tailgate I dropped it... problem solved... Easy to install... 10 minutes tops!
Now to install my other products.

I could not get the tailgate-lowering system for a chevy 2006 Silverado 4wd work. It works on a gmc 2008 Sierra just fine.

First, the product is great. Does just what it says it does. I also painted my brackets black to match the truck. It's just one of those cool products that is handy to have installed. Aside from the neat product, etrailer.com has probably the best customer service I have ever dealt with. They are all friendly and the service is unbelievable. I stumbled across them while searching for something on the internet and decided to give them a try and place an order. I'm glad I did and this is my second order. My first order was out of stock and was to be drop shipped straight from the manufacturer. They notified me of this as soon as I placed my order and asked if I wanted to change my order or change my shipping terms. I decided not to change anything and everything worked out great. I was just impressed that they cared enough to contact me to start with! They even follow the tracking information and follow up to make sure you received your delivery. I would definitely do business with etrailer and they will be the first place I look the next time I need something!

A year later and its still a great product! Working just like it did on day one. Would definitely buy again and would definitely buy from etrailer.com! Im still impressed with the product and Im still super impressed with the customer service!
Installed the tailgate assist today. Everything fit perfectly. Had trouble getting the expansion nut to expand on my first try. I figured out what I was doing wrong and worked great on my second try. I probably spent more time gathering the right tools than the actual installation. When I dropped the tailgate, it started to drop quickly and thought I had done something wrong. Then the rate of fall slowed quickly and the tailgate eased into the down position. It will be great when I have an armload of gear for the truck bed. Just unlatch and let it go! Sorry I'm not tech savvy enough to send photos.

I had to add more thread lock compound, as the screw kept loosening. No issues since and the assist is working great.
Very pleased with the unit. It's great allowing that heavy tailgate to lower itself slowly. There was not an exact model for my wife's Cadillac Escalade EXT pickup, so with help from e-trailer was able to get really close to a proper fit unit. I did elongate the upper (fender) plate hole about 3/16" to allow the tailgate to open fully so the weight is held by the tailgate cables and not the cylinder. I'd buy it again or recommend it to anyone for their Cadillac EXT.

I see that our customer service department has sent you a reshipment of this item since the original was not found. We would appreciate your updated feedback of the item as soon as you are able.
This is a great addition just to make handling a tailgate a little bit easier.
Installation is a snap - instructions are very clear, with good directions and pictures. I think I spent more time walking back and forth from my workshop for tools than I did with actual installation.
One minor nit to pick - new upper bolt calls for an 11 mm wrench - never seen an 11mm anything before, so I used a crescent wrench instead. Hardly the end of the world, but a little thing that would have made this product perfect. As it is, it's close enough.

An 11mm wrench is fairly common. If you dont have one, a 7/16 is the SAE equivalent.
Fast shipping & tracking by etrailer. Easy installation and lets the tailgate down in a controlled way. Only tools needed, a 10mm and 13mm wench and two different sizes of allen wrenches. Follow enclosed directions.

Still works great. No problems after 1 year.
Best addition you can add for the price.
My tailgate had not failed completely yet, but after a year it was beginning to drop quickly enough to make a loud thud.
This works so well its amazing and took all of 10 minutes to install.
The version for my 2015 Chevy 3500HD did not require removal of the original cable retaining clip.
It's perfect.

Love it, still working perfect.
Instructions were fantastic! Put this shock on in roughly 10 minutes. Would have been a tad quicker but had to use a step bit to widen the hole on the tailgate. The outside opening was right but there was a piece of metal inside that was in the way....anyway no big deal. Ideally it could drop it a bit slower but otherwise very impressed.

The product has been working perfectly. Im sure over time it will wear out but no complaints here.
Easy install, works great on my 2018 Silverado LTZ. Factory dampener was pretty weak so now the tailgate drops very gently. Factory should include this as original equipment especially now that we have tailgates that open 8 ways, have power controls, and do calculus. Thank you

Working perfect. Hardware is still tight and the dampening force is same as new. Best addition Ive made to the truck.
This is a great product! I bought one for myself and one for my father in-law who has shoulder problems and can't lower his tailgate without slamming. It takes about 10 minutes to install and is worth the money.

This product is still working great. I like how it assist you when opening the tailgate especially if you have your hands full. One suggestion the valve in the gas strut should be re-worked by the engineers to make the gate more slowly. But overall it is a great product.
The DeeZee tailgate assist i purchased is great, I did have an issue with the bolt backing off that holds the tailgate assist onto the tailgate. When I originally installed the Deezee tailgate assist, I applied the locktite (blue bottle) solution but for some reason it backed off a few months later. I reapplied more locktite and it seems to be holding ok now. Very easy install and it certainly helps when lowering the tailgate especially with one hand!
The WeatherTech Mats fit nicely in my GMC 2011 Sierra. Unfortunately my truck does not have the in floor anchor points, so the mat still slip and slide. I have not a chance to use the Erickson Retractable Tiedown Anchors yet. However, they have a snug fit in the truck bed stake pockets. I like the function of retracting. The DeeZeee Tailgate Lowering bracket is not working well. The installation of the Blind Nut is not going well. The washer and bearing of the Blind Nut tool system is allowing the Blind Nut bolt to tighten and compress the Blind Nut into the tailgate. The Blind Nut keeps turning as the Wrench is being turned.
Product just installed.Assist works well for slowing opening of tailgate but doesn't seem to provide much of an assist when closing ...any suggestions

The DZ43102 is meant to gently lower the tailgate when its opened, but wont offer assistance in raising it. Unfortunately, we dont offer a product that would assist in raising the tailgate.
This was exactly what I was looking for.Put one on my 2013 Silverado a year before and when the factory assist on my 2015 started to fail I ordered this to put on.Very happy and works well.Two thumbs up!

My son and I both have the tailgate-Lowering system on our trucks. It is the greatest thing. When I get another truck it will be the first accessory I buy for it. Now it would be nice to have an assist to take the weight off lifting the tail gate.
