This platform-style carrier holds 1 bike by the wheels with a ratcheting hook - no frame contact. Accommodates most types of bikes including fat bikes and e-bikes. Rack folds up against vehicle when not in use. Includes locks for bike and hitch.I didn’t come with assembly instructions and couldn’t find any on the internet, but I figured it out pretty easily. Won’t fit fat tire bikes with big tube suspension forks, hold down lever hits fork, did some playing around and found it’ll fit over the rear tire with some maneuvering (I’ll have to mount the bike reverse) but it came to my address quickly and undamaged and works well.
Hi im happy with my purchase it is Easy to install took me 30min installing and adjusting parts. I like with the thule it has key lock and cord lock to wrap around the frame.i feel secure leaving my bike when ever i go to a restaurant to eat.And also i can open my back trunk with the bike on no hustle . Great product to any size of bike i will surely recommend this product looks amazing and durable
As is typical these days instructions are minimal with only pictures. The manual, such as it is, was missing all of the even pages. You can find the complete manual online. Took a bit longer than it should have to install, but it worked out fine. Seems fairly sturdy. You're not suppose to use for a bike with rims, which mine does, but the retching 'J' hook is tight against the installed rear cargo frame above the rim. Without that I would have had to take the rim off which I didn't want to. It should be mentioned somewhere that the bike should be rimless.
Needed a rack for my 2018 Mazda 6, this car only allows for a class 1 hitch, my eBike is heavy and a typical rack wouldn’t work for such a heavy eBike. This is the only single bike, class 1 suitable, up to 60lb. rack I could find, good thing I did find it, after a test fit it appears that it’s going to work just fine. Assembly was fine, instructions could be better but if you really pay attention to the pictures it will go together easily enough. I would have given it 5 stars had it come with the 3rd lock cylinder, or if an option to add to my “cart” would have been presented prior to checkout. Nonetheless, glad I made the purchase, should work out well. Bonus; I can even get in my trunk with the bike on or off, which is nice.
On time delivery, easy assembly & install. I did a pretrial fit to be sure I had all the adjustments covers, all went well... ready to go and Ride!
I love my bike rack! I chose this one because I can lift it by myself. It is a platform rack and easy for me to load my bike. I have had it for a year now and it is still in great shape and easy to use. Since I have had it, I have been able to go on many adventures with my bike.
The only issue with this rack is that the 1 1/4" hitch mount doesn't fit snugly in the 1 1/4" hitch receiver on my Subaru. The rack wobbles a lot. I had to hammer some shims into the gaps where the hitch mount has excessive play. Hopefully this will solve the issue but if it doesn't, I may have to sell this rack and buy something else.
Great service and information. Love the rack cause of its simplicity n how it is secure in the car hitch. Also rides clos to the back of car.
Just a note about a Pedego boomerang 24”ebike. The cable that wraps the bike to secure it to the rack is not long enough to wrap both frame n front tire to rack. It will only do one or the other so I got a separate 6’ locking cable that will do the trick.
Missing the box with the hardware so had to contact you to send a replacement box. We had hoped to have the hitch on this weekend to take my bike to my relative. I’ve sent pictures of what we did receive to your representative and I’m waiting to hear back The missing parts are the reason for the 2 stars.
Installed on a newer Mazda 3 and Typically used for my 29er (large frame) but occasionally have the road bike on the rack. The road bike fits perfectly into the front tire holder and the rear wheel holder moves easily so switching between the two is no issue. The 29er also fits fine and the rear holder has plenty of extra space for something longer. The fit for the car is just perfect with it being so compact but still able to open the hatch. It is much more sturdy then the Hollywood rack that I had before. The small things that make it four stars: if you have V-brakes or it’s set up for them the foam on the front arm will get a chunk missing out of it, the lock works well but it’s such a challenge to get the key in, and the front wheel holder location isn’t adjustable so the road bike fits perfectly but the larger bike sticks out 6” or so on one side of the car.
Good for Toyota Yaris with e bike, class 1 hitch.
Great rack for ebike The arm rocks back and forth too much so need a strap to hold it

Great Perfect for ebikes because it rides lower than most
NOT Recommended! I am please with etrailer.com and would order from etrailer.com again. With regards to the Thule single bike (FAT TIRE version) rack, I would NOT recommend it. My ebike nearly fell over while driving on the highway. I have the rack mounted on a Toyota Tacoma and the plastic cup which is designed to hold the front tire, does not hold a 4 inch Fat Bike tire very well. It appears wind is catching the front edge of the tire and the wheel turns and then pops out. This happened to me on the highway. I had noticed the issue developing after a previous drive a highway speeds, so fortunately I had placed a couple safety cables onto the bike. The newer version by Thule may be ok, as the front wheel cups on the new version appear on-line to be more substantial. Support from Thule was non-existent (hard to reach). Etrailer.com was helpful. I provided them a photo taken from along side the highway showing the bike hanging over. If you are using this rack I suggest you block the wheel so it can turn and pop out and put an extra safety strap / bungies to ensure the bike stays in place. I wanted to love this rack but I don't like the stress it has caused and the lack of support was disappointing. I'm glad I purchased via etrailer.com as they were helpful when the OEM was not.
Great bike rack very good quality. Highly recommend to family and friends.
Great single bicycle carrier. I had a hatch mounted carrier before this one. A well needed solution to the hatch style carrier. Used it for a "27.5 plus" MTB and also a 29er. Worked fine for both. You may need a longer strap for the rear wheel if transporting a "plus" MTB. You will need a longer strap is transporting a "fat tire" MTB. If you will never carry a 2nd bike, this is a great carrier. If there is a chance you will take 2 bikes, get the 2 bike carrier. Upgrading the single carrier to a dual carrier isn't practical. There have been times that I wanted to ride with a friend and bring their bike. But a 2 bike carrier would be needed. Highly recommended single bike carrier. Bolt that holds carrier to car hitch requires a special wrench (included) deters theft. Carrier folds up easily when not in use.
Carol, I ordered the rack Monday morning and it was delivered Tuesday early afternoon; maybe 28 hours later. I must say the customer service couldn't be better thus far.
have not used the rack yet but the instruction are horrible! Hopefully the rack itself will work just fine it which case I would give it a higher rating. etrailer was excellent to work with.
The Thule Bike Rack T1 (TH9041) comes with a User's Manual that is terrible: other than the warranty page, every step of the instructions consisted of hieroglyphic drawings which you were expected to figure out what they meant. Why is Thule using hieroglyphics in its Manual is beyond me, since most people can read English, the language of it's previous user manuals. Frankly, even English-language user manuals coming out of China do a better job at communicating instructions than this product's manual.
I also had a pet-peeve with the pull-out locking cable. My complaint was that the unit I received appeared to be missing part of the black rubber that covers/protects the pull-out cable precisely at the spot where the user would apply pressure with his/her fingers for wrapping the cable around the bike (pic attached). In time, a review of the pics in the ad revealed that this appears to be the way the rack was designed by Thule. The reason, if there is one, isn't yet obvious to me.
A second question I had was about what appeared to be a third lock in the rack. If locks #1 and #2 are one at [1] the bolt that secures the rack to the hitch and one at [2] the lock that secures the pull-out cable so it can secure the bike to the rack, there is a third lock that is located at the J hook (pic2). There's absolutely nothing on the User's Guide (not even in its hieroglyphic drawings) that refers to this lock - let alone how to use it. It would had been better is the existence and use of this 3rd lock was explained somewhere.
I had a similar hitch-mounted rack before but it accommodated 2 bikes. I needed to replace that rack because it was already showing signs of deterioration, but at the same time I no longer needed a rack for 2 bike, but only one. This rack will allow me to take my bike to the local trail about 15 minutes away, on a rack lighter that my older 2-bike rack. a lighter rack was also important to me so I can spend less energy removing it prior to going thru the car wash.
I ordered an automobile bike rack from etrailer. A couple of weeks passed so I contacted them to learn when I could expect to get the rack. They promptly responded saying the item was back ordered and suggested an alternate product. The different product had a higher price tag. When I contacted etrailer to purchase the alternate product explaining that I'd pay the additional cost, the gent responded that they would change the order but that I was not required to pay the additional cost. Great service! And, I pleased the replacement Thule bike rack.
This is a great durable rack that my wife uses for her fat bike. It is solid, but light enough for her to get it on or off her car. The handle makes it easy to carry from the garage. Having the tray style rack is preferred for carbon fiber frames as it locks down both tires securely versus the rack that secure with the rubber straps around the frame.
The product and company customer service are awesome. However, the instructions that come with the rack for assemble are "woefully" not customerfriendly. There are ONLY drawings (and not very good ones at that) with absolutely no worded instructions. It was a very difficult assembly and installation process. I am sure we USA English speaking residents are used to the instructions for products made in China having poor grammar, misspellings, etc. But this is "horrible." Not the fault of E Trailers but someone should fix this only negative aspect of this purchase hence the 4 stars.
The rack is very nice! Holds my 27.5 MTB nicely!
This rack was easy to put together and only took me 10 minutes. A lot of others complained about the instructions. In my opinion, if you're mechanically inclined, you won't have any issue putting it together.
I can not ask for a better bike rack. I have a fat tire electric bike which is a out 60 lbs. This rack holds it with ease. I feel though that the rear tire chock strap could use about 3 to 5 more inches of length just to give better length of grip around the tire. I have to place a cargo strap over the rear tire to lock it down. Overall a great product.
The instruction booklet was missing a couple of key pages. The wrench provided didn't fit well. Construction looks good. Will be interested in how it performs.
Arrived on stated date. Now will have a tech put it together. Love Thule products. Thanks trailer.
