Wiring your car for flat towing has never been easier. No more testing wires or splicing into your electrical system. No need to painstakingly position multiple diodes beneath your vehicle. No worries about voiding your warranty. With this custom-fit towed vehicle wiring kit from Hopkins, all you have to do is plug the harness into your vehicle's existing wiring, which is located behind your car's tail light assemblies. No cutting, tapping, or splicing is required.
After plugging in the wiring harness, use the included bracket to mount the 4-way flat connector at the front of your towed car. An extension loop (sold separately) is required to connect your towed car to your RV.
Because your vehicle has a combined lighting system - wherein the brake signals and the turn signals are carried on a single wire - a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) may be required if you use a supplemental braking system with your towing setup. A supplemental braking system depresses the brake pedal in your towed car every time you apply the brakes in your RV. So, if your towed car's brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed and the engine is off - as is the case when towing - then you need to install a relay to ensure that the lights on your towed car always act in accordance with the signals sent by your RV via the wiring harness. Without a relay, the brake signal from your towed car will override the turn signal sent by your RV when you slow down to make turns, creating a potential hazard.

I also replaced the flat four way plug with a six pin round.
Called my local trailer and flat tow company in my area and they quoted me $179.00 for the harness alone. I also got a quote for the install which was $350.00 and the total of $529.00. Called Etrailer and purchased the Hopkins harness that was on sale and paid total of less than $82.00. It took me around 2 hours to install with wire loom protection. Etrailer has always had excellent customer service. Big thanks to Brandon for all his help.
Haven’t installed this yet but it looks to be great quality and the plug and play installation was very appealing to me. No cutting or splicing of the factory harness and no more magnetic tail lights.
System works perfectly. Prepare to be patient running the wires between the back lights and to the front of the toad. It is not too difficult, just takes time. I installed it on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler 2-door and have towed it on seven outings covering 2,653 miles with no problems.
I’ve now installed both ‘cut wire’ and the plug and play and the plug and play is by far the easiest way to install. Couldn’t be happier with the ease of install.

Simple installation and excellent quality product! I installed this harness on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler. After one year it is still performing flawlessly. Don’t do like I did on my first tow vehicle and pay someone hundreds to thousands of dollars to do something so easy. Thank you etrailer and Hopkins for easy to follow instructions and videos!

I am a 55 yr old woman and I installed this myself with the assistance of the wonderful folks at etrailer. Thank you John G for all the info and making sure I purchased the correct parts for my jeep.
The shipping label was printed on 02/01/2024 I received it late on 02/10/2024.
When I purchased it the delivery date said by 02/05/2024.
I'm leaving on a long journey on Monday in my motorhome and towing my Jeep Wrangler, I needed this installed before leaving.

The custom Hopkins wiring harness I installed on my 2008 Jeep JK has performed flawlessly. The harness sure beat trying to figure out the wiring and connections myself.
Easy install. I did swap out the 4 pin head for a round six pin and everything seems to work well.

Doesn't get much easier than this. Truely was plug and play. Wish it came with a six pin connector option, but a great product.
Was very pleased with the service and got the right product that I needed.
This harness works great for flat towing a Jeep Wrangler. The installation was straight forward and easy. It's nice to not have to run magnetic lights from the rear of the Wrangler to the tow vehicle anymore. Now, I just plug in to the adapter on the front aftermarket bumper.
The kit was a breeze to install and everything fit just like it stated on the instructions. It's as easy as just plug in and go with my 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU behind my RV. I would highly recommend this product to anyone especially any Jeep owner. etrailer really did their homework on engineering this product for my type of vehicle which made the installation so simple.
My friend who is a mechanic wired it for me. He didn't seem to have any problems. Lights and brakes work great.

This was very easy to install on my Wrangler Unlimited and ties in very well with the existing lights. I do recommend purchasing the RoadMaster Relay kit.
Great product easy install. I found out on passenger side it was easier to drill with hole saw to pass wire trough cover .then made gromit out of rubber chiar/table cap .Sliced up side and noched for wires snapped right in. Product works great I would recommend .
Best towbar like it better than demco towbar and lighter too works great had it one year so far so good
