Availability of Underbed System or Replacement Legs for a Valley 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2001 Dodge Ram
Question:
Hi I have what I believe is a valley fifth wheel hitch that mounts to a under bed system. Is there a under bed system I can buy or replacement legs I can buy to convert it to a in bed rail system?

Since Valley went out of business there are no underbed systems of replacement legs available for you to convert it to fit in-bed base rails.
For your 2001 Dodge Ram with a 6 foot bed it is recommended to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch as that will give you the clearance that you need to avoid hitting the cab on your truck when making tight turns. If you are wanting to go with a hitch that is under the bed of your truck then I recommend the B&W Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1394-5W. This will provide you with a gooseneck hitch that allows you to flip the ball over for a clean bed. You will then want to use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W which fits in the gooseneck hole and will allow you to pull a 5th wheel trailer. This combination has a 20,000 lbs weight capacity.
If having to get in and out of your truck to engage and disengage the sliding feature of the 5th wheel hitch doesn't appeal to you then I recommend going with a Demco Hijacker instead. If you install the Above-Bed Base Rails and Universal Install Kit # DM8552009-71 you can then use either the 18,000 lbs # DM8550034 or 21,000 lbs # DM8550035 autosliding 5th wheel hitch. These 5th wheel hitches are great because they will automatically activate the sliding feature when you are making tight turns so that you don't have to leave your cab until you reach your camp site.
I have attached some demonstration videos for you to check out.
