Today we're going to take a look at the Curt custom fifth wheel installation kit for the Ram trucks.Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2019 Ram 1500 trucks and on a custom fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, putting your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application.Now, this is a complete kit. That'll include the custom mounting brackets, the base rails, and all the hardware needed for installation. The brackets, these custom mounting brackets. These are designed to mount beneath your truck bed, and they provide attachment points for these fifth wheel base rails. These brackets provide a custom fit by mounting to existing holes that are in your vehicle's frame already, so it minimizes the amount of drilling that's required.
And it'll cut the installation time in half when compared with universal bracket kits.The base rails, which is this one, and this one right here, these are included. They sit in the truck bed and they attach to these mounting brackets and then allows the installation of your fifth wheel trailer hitch to your vehicle. These base rails in this kit are a gloss finish, and the rails are compatible with the Curt, Draw-Tite, hidden hitch, Reese and Husky fifth wheel hitches. Includes everything you need for installation.Fits 2022 RAM 1500 4x4 Ecodiesel w/off-road package and 33-gallon tank. You do have to unbolt the back of the fuel tank skid plate to get one of the front brackets on, but that's no biggie. Had to grind down the sides of one of the nuts that fit in the middle of the cross braces (could have avoided that if they'd just rotate the handle-nut 30 degrees) and measurement to the end of the bed were not quite right (needed to be 1/4" further back), but with a little futzing it does fit. Unlike the Reese kit: It was impossible to get that to fit because the frame is curved where the front bracket mounts and yet the bracket is straight (you can attach either the front or rear bolt, but not both!).
Have not installed rail kit yet but so far communication from time of order (Monday evening) until it hit my door (Friday) and after has just been incredible. From now on etrailer will definitely be my first stop to shop.
