Today we're going to be taking a look at the Custer Emergency Triangle Flare Kit. It's going to be 3 flares. It's going to come in a nice storage compartment. It's going to be part number EMT3. Here in our emergency situation, it's very quick and easy to set it the flares as needed. With all of them set up and with our flashers on, we're going to be highly visible to other drivers out on the road. The bright orange and the reflective material shows up well.
It's going to be easy to see even in low-light conditions. We're going to take a quick look inside the little storage box here. You can see how all 3 flares are nicely folded up, compact. They're not going to take up much room. That way you can keep them in your truck or vehicle always close at hand when you need them. To set one up, all you have to do is fold out these two parts here, interlock this top portion, rotate the triangle. The heavy base is going to keep it from rocking this way.
It's got these little feet on each end of the emergency flare that's going to keep it from rocking back and forth that direction. The base right here has a weight on the inside of it to ensure that it doesn't move around once you have it in the correct place or the particular place that you want to have it set. Also, here on the bottom, it's got these nice rubber feet. Again, that's just going to allow it to get a nice grip on whatever surface you have it set on. On both sides of the emergency triangle, you're going to have a reflector going all the way around. These are Department of Transportation compliant. Again, this is going to be a set of 3. We're going to go over a few measurements here.
Measuring this direction, the base is going to give us a measurement of right around 18". Overall height from the ground to the very top of the emergency triangle is going to be right at 17". The box back here, the storage box, that's going to measure about 18-1/2 by 5" by 5". That's going to complete today's review of the Custer Emergency Warning Triangles, part number EMT3. .

We bought these after blowing a tire on our travel trailer along the interstate, but since getting them have not have to use them (which is a good thing, I guess). My husband retired from being a diesel mechanic and he says these are equal to the ones most truckers use, good heavy duty and the stands are large enough to keep them from being blown over by the wind from the passing traffic.
My F150 had an OEM 4 pin trailer plug and hitch.
The 118242 - 7 pin connector with wiring harness is the ticket. The hardest part of the install was dropping the spare tire. The plugs connect directly to the factory plugs and the harness length is the correct length.
The 3035-P brake controller connector harness was just as easy. Plugs right in to the OEM plug next to the ECM connector and the other end into the brake controller.
The PK12711U-26 - 7 pin bracket and hardware kit fastens directly the OEM bracket that is on the hitch. My truck had an OEM 4 pin trailer towing set up with the hitch. The OEM hitch had the bracket welded on it to attach the 7 pin mounting bracket to it.
These kits make this install very easy and professional looking.
If I have one complaint, the hardware kit to attach the 7 pin connector bracket is set up to fasten the bracket directly to the bumper with 2 - self tapping screws provided in the kit. The kit also includes 4 #12 machine screws with toothed washer nuts to attached the 7 pin connector to the bracket. This is fine if your truck hitch doesn't have an attaching bracket welded to it. The kit should included in it 6 #12 machine screws and nuts along with the 2 self tapping screws. Since my OEM hitch actually had a bracket welded to it to attach the 7 pin bracket to it, I had to use two other #12 screws and nuts to attach the 7 pin bracket to the OEM bracket on the hitch. Not a big deal, just a thought.
It took me about 2 hours, start to finish to install the 7 pin connector, trailer controller, and add the two relays in the OEM relay/fuse box under the hood.
I highly recommend these kits.

Just what I thought they would be. I have a compartment by my spare tire that is made for these. I wonder if other cars have one also? They come in a red plastic case. Just understand these things are fairly heavy (aprox 20 or 25 lbs.), while flares are just about 1 lb., but with flares you could be responsible for road damage etc....and flares can be a little intimidating to light for many people.
I just can't say how impressed I am with etrailer LIGHTNING like shipping (3 days from Missouri to Atlanta area) and excellant communication. I recieved no less than 4 emails from them! I will be back to buy roof racks and probably other cool items they have on their Website. Thanks again etrailer!
The staff was very kind, knowledgeable, and courteous. I had 2 items in my original order. One of the items were not in stock. This is my second set reflectors. The cap on the base that holds the lead grains cracked. I plan to reinforce the caps.
Very heavy duty, nicely packaged for going into a trunk or storage compartment. Thankfully have not needed to use them.
Good solid warning triangles. etrailer seems to deal only with products that are well made and will last a long time. This is why I am a repeat customer.
Case could be a little stronger but the triangles themselves are great.
I have used these Triangles in the past, but bought another truck recently. I now own 3 sets of triangles, 1 set per truck. Good heave construction avoiding tipping in high wind or gusts from oncoming trucks/busses etc. Great product
Heavy duty, nice triangles. Need them for my safety inspection, they work great nice heavy base makes them very sturdy.
Heavy which is good. They don’t hold up well when you run them over. So don’t do that.
