What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Now, today, we're gonna be checking out some dry bags from Coghlan. The good thing about these is when you're out camping, you never know what you're going to run into, gonna keep all your gear nice and dry, but also, take up as little space as possible, either to save room in the tent, or if you're just gonna leave these bags outside, if it rains randomly, like it looked like it could do today, gonna make sure everything stays nice and dry. And these bags are really great for that just because of how they close up. They roll several times, so, the water just isn't gonna get in there, let's check them out. The two bags we're gonna be looking at today are gonna be the green 25 liter one, and then the light blue 55 liter one.

They're going to have the same material and the same seams built into them. These are fully taped seams, so that's another thing that helps protect against the water. Then the nylon outside is gonna be water resistant, so if it does rain on there, the water is go roll right off there and not cause any issues and get inside. I went ahead and emptied the 25 liter bag just so I can show you how much you actually hold in there, and show you how to wrap it all up. So this is what it looks like when it's empty, same material on the inside.

You don't have to worry about anything messing up your clothes, so we're gonna see how much we can fit. We got a pair of pants there, some jeans, so that's two pairs of pants. Now we've got some shirts, all of these are large shirts, one, two, three, four large shirts, and two pairs of pants. There's still some room to spare, you see, it's not filled all the way up to the top, but that's okay 'cause we want some room to roll it up. So this is the cool part about these bags, you're gonna put both seams together, leave these clips on the outside, and then you just tightly roll that down.

So it gets about right there, then we'll bring it around, and clip it in. So not only does this make a nice handle, but you've rolled the seams three or four times, so the water's not gonna be able to get in there. You'd have to go all the way through that and that's not how water works. For both loaded, you essentially can double up the size of that 25 they're on in you're 55, and still have room to spare. But remember, you wanna leave space to roll it up so it's got that nice and tight here seal at the top, so then if water gets to it, it's not going to get inside.

Speaking of water, I think we wanna test that out, so we're gonna go over to the hose and spray them down. We took a break from the campsite, we're gonna spray it off with the hose and see how it holds up to the water. I keep saying how great that nylon is, let's put it to the test. You can see, I sprayed it down pretty good. The water beaded up on the outside, it's rolling down and off there. You can probably shake most of it off before you open the bag, or just wipe it off, wipes off really easily. Now let's open it up and see how it looks on the inside. Well, that's a good sign right there, you can see that's a little wet spot, and then completely dry at the top where we rolled it up, completely dry on the inside. Now let's check out the 55 liter one just to make sure it's the same. And get some of that water off the top. Again, you can see the dry spot where you rolled it up, it means that water didn't even get close, and the inside is dry. Back at the campsite, just wanted to compare it to a normal backpack that's supposed to be water tight. You can see, the point of failure is always gonna be the zippers. We can't get those any closer together, so there's an opening spot, water will easily get in there, same for the pockets. So that's just something to point out of, this is why it's superior to the zipper-based backpack, because water is going to get in through those zippers. Here, you saw how we rolled it up, you saw how there's even air there at the top, that's how tight it is up in there. And then the dry spots when we unrolled it, you saw the water didn't get close to the clothes on the inside. So, even though you can throw this on your back with the straps, this one's going to be easy to lug around with you, even the smaller 25 liter one, it's gonna be good to have it on you 'cause you know that the elements just aren't gonna get to your stuff on the inside. Another thing to note is weight. So they're going to be much wider than a normal backpack, just because the backpack is going to add some stuff to it. This is just the dry bag, so the bag weighs virtually nothing. So you're really just having the weight of the clothes when you're carrying them. So if you have a couple of these, it's gonna be far lighter than a bunch of backpacks, or some bags. Another good thing about these bags is how it holds that air at the top. Now that's going to be good for if you're not necessarily going camping, but maybe you're going kayaking, you can put this in your storage. And if it flips over and falls out, it'll float for a little bit on the water, so you can grab it, it doesn't sink right away. And you don't, again, don't have to worry about the water getting on the inside. So that's gonna be really helpful for those kayak trips, maybe a float trip, it's gonna just keep your stuff safe. Overall, whether you go with the 25 liter one, or the 55 liter one, they're gonna be a great option for camping. I know I was impressed working with it today, I had not used one of these before, but seeing how it rolls up that seam and it keeps that water out of there, it's definitely the way to go. I won't ever have to worry about my clothes getting soaked or anything when out camping again. Well, thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helped..
